Jacob couldn't help laughing a little, wondering if she was telling the truth or not since it seemed like a joke but her surprise seemed to say otherwise. "Well, not often you meet someone with a similar background whichever way you say it. And think it's been a while since I met someone who might be from London." He said, giving her a kind smile. This certainly was interesting since he hadn't heard someone having such a weird background but that never meant it was possible for people to have similar pasts. Sometimes there were people who had a past that mirror others without people realizing it and that was something quite interesting to hear. And sometimes people weren't so keen to speak of their pasts. "We can't always choose who our families are Liz, and it's one thing I just try to put behind me. I'm sure you can relate to that too." Jacob stated to her, his voice this time a little more serious and basically telling her it was no worry.
Though he was glad to hear that it wasn't causing her too many problems, if any, that his wings were out. But it still was quite surprising to hear a regular human wanting to be a mutant yet couldn't gain such abilities while there were mutants he knew wanted to be normal. It was rather strange to see things in reverse this time around. "But thanks for the compliment, I have no doubts your pretty good yourself as a human. Even ordinary humans are known to have exceptional talents of their own." Jacob said with a smile though it faded slightly as he looked away a bit at her comment of doing so much good. And how far Dalton could be from that, especially when it came to Jacob. He did more evil and harm than good, being something of an anti-hero more than a true hero. He saw it as a bit overrated to call anyone a "hero" since some were always in it just for the fame and glory. And well, he just found it hard to truly turn to something of complete heroism after what he had seen in his life the last few years.
"Wish I could say all my intentions were good Liz, truth is my actions could be better." Jacob explained to her, giving her a partial truth without really revealing everything. It might unknowingly give her a big clue to why SHIELD had interest in Jacob but at the same time there was truth behind his statement. This young man wasn't always good in his intentions and even when he did sometimes he seemed to cause more harm then good to begin with.

Dalton certainly didn't have an English accent, so it was strange to think that this girl who sounded like she was from LA was telling the truth, but sometimes life is so complicated there isn't such a thing as a simple truth for some people. She gave him a friendly half smile. "Well, I was born in LA but I moved to England when I was twelve and lived there until I became of age. I've been living in both places on and off since then, so you could say I'm from neither, really." She said in a kind tone. It wasn't like her to talk about herself except in bizarre circumstances. Working undercover to spy on a guy that seemed pretty normal despite the huge wings in his back was a rather unusual occurrence in her life, so if a complete stranger she wasn't going to move in with knew a bit about her life, so what? It was no catastrophe, and if sharing helped her get the work done all the better, though she had to admit talking about her life to that man didn't make her uncomfortable as usual. Perhaps because her mind processed her undercover jobs like a role-play or an acting. It wasn't really her but a made up someone else who was talking and she could make all the bad things in that person's life go away by imagining them differently if she wanted. But Dalton had been taught that the best way to hide things is among half-truths. A quiet nasal chuckle and a side smile were her first answer. "You have no idea." Was the explanation that followed. Yes, she would have rather chosen a mother who didn't hate her and who wasn't suicidal, that much was for sure.
The short time Dalton had spent talking to Jacob was enough for her to realize he seemed like a good guy who wouldn't be saying what she was perceiving as talking down to her on purpose, so she put on her best unworried, happy face and tried not to think of what she'd really answer to anyone telling her that 'she was OK for a human' after she had busted her butt for years to prove everyone in the Army first and now at SHIELD that she was as good as any mutant with or without powers. "I think most humans resent mutants because they envy their ability to do amazing things but are too proud to admit that, so they just hate them. It's the basic psychology of a playground bully applied to masses." Dalton theorized, because she hadn't heard of any research backing up her theory. If anything, that theory would prove her better than that, braver, if it turned out to be true. She did envy mutants, but at least she could admit it and stand on their side instead or attacking them because they had what she couldn't.
Liz gave him an understanding smile. "Ditto that." She said with a hint of irony, but the nice kind. "Look, if you know someone absolutely perfect, someone who's good through and through and doesn't have selfish moments of weakness or self-destructive tendencies or has never lied to people to gain something from it, please do introduce me to him. I'm sure the entire world will want to hang him for making them look bad." The tone was that of a joke, but she meant every word and got serious once again after saying that. "Nobody is perfect. I might save kittens from being burned by a drunk man and still hurt other people... or be a model policeman and still burn cats alive." She shrugged. "Everyone struggles, Jacob."

"Hey I still count it pretty close in my book, been a while regardless. Good to meet someone who's been in London and isn't judging you for what you are." Jacob told her, smiling a bit as he still found it interesting she was from England at some point in her life since Jacob himself hadn't really met another for some time now. Though Jacob had long since lost his own English accent, having come to have a normal every day kind of voice, but there were times he'd have it back once in a while without thinking about it but it was only on occasions. And should anyone ask about why he did it usually the winged man shrugged and explained the randomness of his accent coming back, though there were times he did it intentionally for no real reason. It was weird but he usually didn't care what others thought anymore.
"That's what most people have come to theorize nowadays Liz, but that doesn't make things any easier for both sides. I can't tell you the number of mutants I come across who'd rather have no powers at all and just be normal, many might be surprised you can't even count those numbers on your fingers." Jacob told her, having tried not to talk down to her at all but really had been complimenting her really. "Sometimes I wonder why either side complains honestly. Everyone has great potential, mean look at the original Avengers, most of them are human and can do great things without the need for natural occurring powers and teams like the X-men have been doing great without having to be normal. Think it's a double edged sword to say the least." Jacob stated, having come to think both sides were not only at fault but didn't realize just how much in common they truly had. It was sad really since someone didn't have to have extraordinary powers just to be great or to be a somebody.
Though he let out a faint chuckle he still didn't seem quite as happy as before, "No I don't know anyone like that but that's not quite what I meant Liz. Honestly, wish I could tell you but it's a rather complicated topic." Jacob now was trying to avoid directly shifting to accidently revealing what he truly meant and what he was, knowing this could compromise the Dark Avengers if he ended up revealing too much. But it was at that moment he felt his phone go off making him look down slightly and take it from his pocket, seeing a text that he quickly hid and slipped his phone back into his pocket in a kind of rush. "Though I'm afraid I'm having to cut out conversation short Liz, seems I'm needed elsewhere for the moment. But it has been nice getting to know you."
