I thought this would be useful to use if anyone was curious about our teams that we have. A lot of the popular ones have been the X-Men and the Avengers, but maybe a bit more information would help bring out some potential character ideas for the site?
The Avengers:
They were first created as a project under SHIELD management in order to bring heroes together when the world needed them most. They targeted several important heroes that were mostly loners at the time and brought them together, Nick Fury himself approached Ironman, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor and others in order to see if they would be potential heroes for the group. At first it seemed things turned sour towards the team as they could not handle so many different personalities in one group. But over time with threats like Loki came in they put their differences aside and worked together as a team. The Avengers have grown wide and far since their first few years of being together and some of the family members have settled down to start families and have the next generation of heroes in line. The current teams are lead by a shared leadership of Ironman and Captain America. Stark has offered a place in his Stark Industries for the Avengers to live, so as you can imagine a building full of super heroes can get rather busy at times.
The X-Men
First lead by Charles Xavier and now Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. The X-men's dream is to bring peace and harmony between the mutants and the other humans out there. Jean Grey's School for Higher Learning is a place named after a fallen member on the X-Men known as the Phoenix who perished while trying to protect so many. It seems that the faction has had a lot of issues lately like the recent death of Charles Xavier. However the team seems to be coping well and maybe holding more secrets. Currently it seems that a large number of new students have been enrolled in the school sot hey can help learn to control their 'gifts.'
The Brotherhood:
It was once thought the Brotherhood had long since disappeared after a clash between the X-Men destroyed Magneto and is rise to power. Though it seems Magneto has made a come back as he has gathered new members. A lot of the older members of the brotherhood like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch fled in order to seek redemption and start a way of heroism instead of a villainous one. Magneto is looking for more members and is constantly recruiting mutants who dislike the humans. He currently resides on his African island on Genosha where the Brotherhood have their base.
The Dark Avengers
Just like the Brotherhood, the Dark Avengers have resurfaced again. Originally the Dark Avengers were lead by Normal Osborn as he stole the Ironman Patriot Armor away from Tony Stark and began to find copies of other members of the Avengers. The Dark Avengers were a team of mutants and super heroes who felt under appreciated from the current teams that were hogging all the glory. Osborn approached the likes of Daken (Who'd be Dark Wolverine), Ares the god of war, Trickshot (Barney Barton) and various others to the team to see if he could persuade them on joining. With the jealousy that was building in the team, that quickly turned to another path as the Dark Avengers went on to the villainous side and began to attack the Avengers. It seems that they have sprung up again with a new team of characters, only this time the team leader position is up for grabs. So far only one member has returned to the team that can still remember the old days of the Dark Avengers.
SHIELD Agents
Run by Nick Fury himself he has gathered a group of agents that have been trained in many styles of fighting and martial arts. They are highly skilled in a variety of other combat uses as well that serve as a potential threat. The SHIELD agents keep a close eye on the Avengers to make sure that they aren't doing anything rash since they are close allies. The SHIELD agents reside in the Hellicarrier that watches over most of the world by land and sea.
The Future Foundation
The original Fantastic Four consisted of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, and the Human Torch decided to turn over a new leaf. The Fantastic Four soon changed their names over to the future foundation since they no longer consisted of four members. Although their current leader still remainds as Mr. Fantastic. Their home resides in the Baxter Building in New York. They have been potential allies towards the X-Men, SHIELD agents and as well to the Avengers. Normally they're stopping their own kinds of villains such as Doctor Doom, and keeping New York City away from dangerous threats.
Weapon X
A not as well known team as to the Brotherhood and the Dark Avengers, the Weapon X team members prefer privacy and stealth more than anything. Most of the weapon X members have been manipulated and tested on through a various amount of experiments in order to gain impressive powers or upgrades. Though that doesn't seem to matter to some of the scientists there if it is harmful or not. In their world it's survival of the fittest, and many did not have a choice to join the Weapon X group and are trying to break free. Some have no choice but to stay, on the other hand. Some of the famous members of Weapon X in the past have been: Deadpool, Wolverine, or Sabertooth. This team's leader is currently up for grabs.
