Clinging to the stuffed animal as if it was dear as life, Renard stood there looking around. Renard heard Jean's words in his head, telling him to calm down. He didn't like it when Luke disappeared, it made him become afraid that he'd lose him. After all, people do lose things. A few silent seconds seemed to pause before Luke stated to fade back in, Renard had noticed it quickly and looked a small bit less upset.
"Okay I...I think I got it." Luke said, his voice was muffled and raspy to Renard as the spirit faded for a moment but reappeared.
Luke had stabilized the link, and immediately he sat down on the ground. Trying to fix it quickly and now keeping it up and running was enough to make him wish he could sleep. Since he was dead, he couldn't really sleep now could he? Renard went over to Luke and sat down next to the man.
"You okay?" Renard asked, Luke turned his attention to Renard.
"I'm alright. Could you tell Miss. Grey that everything's okay? I just couldn't keep two links open at the same time, so really it's not her fault." Luke answered, Fernard nodded his head and looked to Jean.
"He said it's not your fault. He just couldn't keep two links open at the same time."

Even outside of Renard's mind, Jean could feel his distress and felt terribly guilty for having disturbed something apparently delicate. Her green eyes scanned the toy and the kid's face repeatedly, looking for some sign that the other man had reappeared to Renard's eyes... as she couldn't see or hear him outside his mind as she was now.
Jean let out a small sigh of relief as she hear the child talk again to a spot where she couldn't see anyone. "Oh, I see," the redhead said as she digested the situation. So, she'd never be able to talk directly to this man, mind to mind, to ask the questions she wouldn't want the kid hearing, like who he was and why he was taking advantage of Renard. That was disappointing, but she knew there were infinite solutions to a problem. Eventually, she'll figure it out, that whole host thing.
She gave a small nod, but her smile didn't reach her eyes this time. There was too much in her mind already. "I'm glad I didn't cause any permanent damage and I'm sorry I caused you two problems. Could you tell him that for me?" Jean asked, now back to her friendly self.
Jean sat on the bench, feeling like she needed a break from all the thinking she had done that day between the Phoenix problem and this. "Hmm... Do you know what a mutant is, Renard?" She asked as casually as possible, but in a low voice, scanning the boy's face for information.

"He can hear what we're saying, it's just only I can hear Luke." Renard told Jean to show her that she didn't need to ask him to tell Luke anything, that he'd hear it himself.
Luke wasn't watching Jean as closely as he was before the whole mind thing went on. Since she did apologize for what had happened, she most likely wasn't a threat. So for now Luke was relaxing slowly, though he was trying to get over the feeling of reappearing and disappearing.
Renard shook his head to Jean's question. He had heard the word before but didn't recall the definition of it.

Jean nodded. A slight blush covered the teacher's pale cheeks. It had been so long since she had felt stupid for making a silly mistake like that. But, then again, she had no way of knowing. The moment passed and she soon regained control over herself. "I'm glad you're OK, Luke." She said then, to nowhere in particular, as she didn't know where it-he was. "It's nice to meet you too."
The response came as a surprise as well and she smiled sweetly, feeling protective for that boy that had been harassed by his teachers and probably school mates also. "It means that you can do things people normally can't, like talking inside other people's head or seeing someone no one else can." For a moment, Jean wondered how to explain that he wasn't crazy like they said but if he found someone else talking to no one it would most likely be someone out of a mental institution than a mutant. "Most people or mutants can't see people no one else can unless there's something wrong with their minds, but you're not crazy, Renard. You're just special." She wanted to stress that part.
"There are all kinds of mutants and their gifts are as different as you can imagine. Some are luckier than others... but you shouldn't talk about this openly." Jean advised, her warm voice turning serious at the end.

"Thanks, nice to meet ya too." Luke replied.
"He said thanks and nice to meet you too." Renard repeated so Jean would know.
Though the boy soon titled his head once more when Jean explained what a mutant was. It still sounded like she was saying he was nuts in one way or another. The boy had gotten to used to being called that.
"No one believes me, so there's no reason to talk about it." Renard answered as he sat there. "Teachers used to ask what was wrong and I told them nothing was wrong, just talking to Luke. Then they'd get all confused eventually resulting to the nuts thing. They called my mom on several occasions for some reason, Luke wasn't doing anything."

A small smile danced on Jean's lips as she heard Luke's reply being delivered by Renard. Her curiosity sparked again. There was so much she'd like to ask that... man? But that was hardly the time.
"Maybe you shouldn't tell other people that you've been talking to him at all. You see, people thinking you're crazy is the least troublesome option. Now if they discovered that your mutant powers have just awaken —and you're about the right age for that—, then that would be something to worry about." Jean tried to explain calm and kindly. "You see, most people are afraid of what they can't understand or of those who are more intelligent or somehow powerful than them... and they somehow react with hatred and violence when they're faced with something that scares them." She had spoken slowly, so there was enough time for the boy to absorb it all.
"Do you understand what I'm saying, Renard?" She asked gently.

"Oh." Renard replied as he sat there.
She did speak truth, Luke was certain of that. After all, that was a phrase he knew when he was still....well not like this. Maybe he shouldn't have stayed with Renard upon the mind link first being formed? Renard would've been spared all of this trouble if he hadn't.
"I get it." Renard add after a few minutes.

The redhead nodded. "Remember when I said I was a high school teacher?" It was a rhetoric question. She was sure he couldn't have forgotten so fast. "Well, I'm a teacher at a school where everyone is like you- like us, and have a special gift that sets them apart from the rest." Jean wouldn't usually be telling that to just anyone, but she considered a kid harassed by his very own teachers had the right to know there were better things out there, or he'd grow up resenting the world.

Renard nodded his head to Jean's question. He remembered, she hadn't mentioned it too long ago to where the boy might've forgotten it. She was just making sure so that was why Renard had responded, that and he was being polite. Though what she said next made him confused a little bit.
There was a school just for people like them? Not a crazy place no, that's not what Jean was saying and Renard understood that. How did he never hear about it before? Maybe he did and just didn't make the connection right now. It was possible.
"I've never heard of it." Renard said as he sat there.

This time it was Jean who nodded. "It's a well kept secret," she explained. "We don't want a mob of haters coming to organize a lynching." After a short pause, Jean added. "I just thought that you should know that people aren't rude and mean everywhere. Even to people like us..." For a moment, she was silent, lost in thought.
"You have to learn as much as you can about yourself and your powers, try to find a way to control them. For instance, learning to keep that link going no matter what would be a good place to start. You begin with a tiny thing that disturbs it and work your way around it." Jean was clearly on teacher mode. "But the less you talk about this with people, the better. You could end up in serious, life-threatening situations if people found out. Believe me. You'd rather they called you crazy." She had heard of kids being beaten up or even killed for being mutants, especially those with the less graceful mutations, that were hard to live with but not very useful, like having green scaly skin.

"Okay." Renard said.
He was hoping that the school would be one his mother knew about. Maybe he could ask to get transferred there. But seeing as how Jean said that they kept it secret, then it was best not to ask his mother. Besides, would his mother even be able to afford to send him off somewhere else? Probably not, after all he did have two sisters that were older than him; by a few minutes.
"We have been, when no one's home. The link isn't all that Luke can do." Renard said.

Jean smiled pleased with this kid's attitude despite him not being her student. In fact, he wasn't anything to her, a complete stranger, but he seemed so lonely despite his mysterious friend. And she had a soft spot for anything that could awaken her maternal instincts, not having had any real kids of her own.
She was about to praise him when she heard him say Luke could do other things besides that. "What else can he do?" The question left her lips without even being supervised by her brain, which was odd in her, but this kid had all her curiosity and part of her interest already.
Note to self: ask about what he can do, besides seeing Luke, Jean told herself. Not that she'd forget something like that with an eidetic memory anyway.

"Things can move without touching them, though they're normally like the sizes of a book to maybe a tire from a small car. I think how heavy the item is depends on if he can move it." Renard explained. "He can also make this really big creature appear out of nothing. Plus, sometimes I can do what he can. We're working on that part, Luke doesn't want anything to go wrong by me using it too much."
"I have my reasons for that." Luke said as he sat there, Renard looked to Luke and smiled.
"I know." Renard returned his gaze to Jean as he waited to see her reaction.
Luke didn't want to hurt Renard by allowing the boy access to his own powers. After all, Luke barely knew what he was doing. What he did know was due to hours and days of tinkering and messing around with the abilities he did have. Trying to figure out what worked and what didn't.

Again, Jean looked surprised and pleased at the same time. "That's called Telekinesis, the ability to move objects with your mind. I can do that too." She informed, an idea brewing in the back of her mind as it had been for a few minutes now, despite her ignoring it.
Just to prove her words, Jean made ((if I may)) the stuffed bunny's ears move, slowly bending forward one at a time, several times. Then she stopped to see the kid's reaction. She didn't want to freak him out, after all.
She assumed Renard was talking to Luke when the boy replied to nothing she had said or could hear. "Do you think...?" Jean bit her lower lip and doubted. There was no way to make it sound as harmless as it really was on her side, right? "I was thinking perhaps I could help with the training." She paraphrased lowering her eyes, a worried expression on her face. It was always better than using her free time to read at the mansion, more productive, but it also sounded like she could be trying to trick him to reap his organs or something and didn't want to appear a creepy old lady.
You look only thirty, she had to remind herself. Dear Thor, she felt so old lately!

Renard listened to what it was called that Luke could do when he moved objects. Turning his gaze to the rabbit's ears, he watched them move slowly. Instead of freaked out, Renard smiled and looked less nervous. Luke was surprised as he sat there, though he didn't say anything about it. It was nice to see someone around with powers similar to his own. Heck, it was nice to just know other people had em and he actually meet them.
"So what's it called when you can make things appear out of nothing?" Renard asked, curious to know what it was that Luke could do.
With the offer to train him in the conversation now, Renard looked to Luke unsure. Should they? They just meet Jean and while she could do something that Luke could, was it best? Luke was already pondering the situation when Renard turned his gaze to him.
It would be good if someone was helping. That way I could get better at this along with Renard. Luke thought in his head. However....
"Ask her where would this training take place for me Renard. After all, it can't be in a place where people will see." Luke said, Renard nodded and turned his gaze to Jean.
"Where would we train though?" Renard asked. "Luke said it'll have to be where no one will find us."
