All plots MUST be appoved

So, I've a question. *raises hand* How would you define plot? Because there are major plots that involve several characters and can affect the entire site like you said, and then, there's smaller plots that involve a single or a reduced group of characters and would probably not make a difference in the overall major plot of the site, much less alter the reality the characters are living in.

I mean if, say, one of my characters had a personal crisis that made her want to make a personal decision as a result (Like Jean deciding to take up a team after learning of Hope in Alaska), should I consider that a plot (minus the part where I already said she'd be taking up a team and had someone say yes) or would it be just a personal crisis?

No idea who Seru is, but I know there's always a player that's 'too creative' for their own good and come up with the craziest things, so I think I understand what you meant.

For a moment, I thought it was some sort of device to make sure everyone was playing in character and minimizing people playing canons OOC or getting too much spotlight time with an original. But what made more sense was it being just a way to make sure nobody took the site's general plot down an unexpected road without the admin's consent.

Whoa. Yes, that would be some major plotting that any sensible RPer would ask for permission before even starting to give shape to the thought. I had one of those too. It was a HP forum and the girl wanted to have wings and then get possessed by a demon who had been in her family for generations and then get pregnant while possessed (she was 15) and give birth two weeks later to a girl because it was all oh-so-magical and then she wanted her character to commit suicide because of all the things she did under the demon's influence made her girlfriend want to break up with her. Ugh, sounds even worse eight years later. I'm sorry you guys had to deal with someone like Seru. Those are a royal pain...

Well, I'll make sure to ask for your heads up if I ever feel creative enough to want to start a not-minor plot line. One little thing though. This thread's title says appoved instead of approved. 

Yeah we made it clear to them that we weren't going to give the other person who wanted to play Jean the Phoenix Force also. So that way we could avoid more godmoding. I had looked up some of the characters that Seru played on another site and it looks like he had used Exodus, Nate, Jean and those are all very powerful players that we had already taken-minus Jean that is.

That sounds so stressing to be dealing with when all you wanted was have fun running your site. I'm sorry you guys had to go through that. It's always so frustrating when that kind of stuff happens. I'm glad you didn't let this guy ruin what you've got going on here, because it's really nice.

I've had my share of drama as an admin, too and I know how much pain this kind of people can bring you IRL with their online actions. The first episode was on 2002 when I had coded an entire forum myself and then had one of the moderators (a friend's BFF) hack into it and tell everyone it was HER site (my characters had been banned) and that I had quit and what not. I had to find a way back into my own site and kick her out. I was on vacation at the time, so I had to do that from a rented PC on top of everything else.

Then on 2007 I had another episode. At that time I was close friends IRL with most of the players even though they were from different states and we were planning to go on vacation together (each would bring her boyfriend along). Well, a week before, when we had everything ready to go camping with them, they said the trip was cancelled and then actually went on that trip... without us. All 11 of them and their boyfriends. We were the only ones left out because I was the one who always insisted on playing real plots and not just "hey, I just met you and this is crazy but fuck me, maybe?" as they liked to play (it had always been a very difficult everyday struggle for me to try to motivate people to play plots instead of smut). So they saw me as the bad guy.

And that's my story.

*Hugs Sarah* I know. It was sick and cruel. Kind of made me understand why Emma says she's her own best friend. It's good you haven't dealt with anything like that. It can really break your heart and I don't think many people deserve to go through all that stress and emotional pain just for a game. Guess that's how I learned not to take it too seriously. But it's all in the past now =) You live and you learn, right?
