It's time to introduce yourself
Name: Jean Grey Summers
Alias: Marvel Woman, Red (while in a mission because it's shorter)
Age: That's a tough one. With all the times she was killed and came back, I'd say she looks around 28-32.
Gender: Female
Species: Mutant
Faction: X-Men
Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: Retired fashion model. Maybe teacher at the Institute for Gifted Youngsters if there's a spot for her.
Play By: ANYONE but Famkee Jansen, please.
<<APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY>>
The very definition of your self
The very definition of your self
Over all Personality:
She's the emotional support of the team. Jean is known for acting like a mother, sister, friend, confident and much, much more towards her friends and team-mates. Her calmness can sometimes cause her to be perceived as uptight, but the truth is that she has had to learn to keep her spontaneous side on check to avoid triggering the Phoenix, which could harm her loved ones (something she'd never forgive herself, as she likes to play by the book).
Jean's the kind of person who lives to help others. She'd do anything for a friend and even go through a great deal of trouble to help a complete stranger, or even a stray dog or a hurt bird. She's very empathetic and sensitive and that's why she can easily relate. The fact that she cares enough to try to solve everyone's problems comes from her kind heart and calm nature. She's not one to start a drama and would most likely be the person stepping in to act as a mediator. She thrives on harmony and needs to be surrounded by her loved ones to feel safe, useful and alive. Just the kind of person who wilts if left alone to feel unwanted and useless in a corner. She just wants to help those she love bloom and be happier.
As the only woman in the original X-Men team, she feels responsible for those around her and has learned to be disciplined and dependable. She's always willing to listen to anyone's problems and give advice or help as required. Also, she's not afraid of hard work. The combination of all those things has always made her appear wise beyond her years. Her passion for reading and psychology also helped her in that regard. She enjoys to have nice details and do little things for those she loves, like buying people presents for no real reason and cooking home-made meals for the entire battalion living at the Mansion.
Like most telepaths, her body is rather weak and sensitive, with a low pain tolerance and stamina despite all her long hours of training to overcome those obstacles. As for her personality, a low tolerance for lies and ill will, a need to have her wardrobe filled with the latest fashion and a huge drawer full of cosmetics can be counted among her weaknesses, as well as an irrational passion for shopping, being too passive sometimes and not talking up for herself when something unimportant or selfish bothers her. Also, she has been known to get so into her "mother" role with her friends, they had sometimes felt patronized or irritated, even if her heart was in the right place. Having a soft spot for her friends when they're in danger and a weakness for a certain ill tempered Canadian are also things she's definitely not proud of. The first, because it has been used against them all in the past and the latter... well, she would do just about anything to keep Scott from feeling any kind of pain, either physical or mental. Anything except perhaps ending her friendship with said Canadian.
Over all Appearance:
Red hair, green eyes, pale freckly complexion. 5'6'', 115lbs.
Jean is one delicate classy lady, a classical beauty. She wears nothing but the latest fashion, but in a discreet way that makes her natural beauty stand out rather than just wearing whatever's in. All she buys is first class material, even if it's an unnecessary expense. It's rare to find her without make-up. She at least puts on the most basic essentials before coming out of her room and you'll never see her in her nightgown unless it's an emergency of some kind going on. She also wears jewelry when not training, such as pearl earrings and a matching necklace or a set of matching bracelets, but not bijou. Never bijou. She's one of those old fashioned ladies who wants things to last, be it clothes, jewelry or relationships.
She usually favors paler, pastel colors or a vivid green or red every now and then to bring out her eyes or compliment her hair and no matter what the occasion she always seems to be dressed just right for it. Her hair is either falling free down her back or up in a ponytail when she needs to train or concentrate in something like reading, where her bangs could become a distraction.
Very much like a Japanese Geisha, her natural feminine grace makes all her movements slow and precise, as if everything she did was part of a very well rehearsed choreography and she's never in a hurry unless there's a real need for haste. Even then, she looks like a gazelle jumping and running in a mesmerizing way that make you think of a dance.
Anything else:
Not that I can think of right now.
Items:
A ponytail, in case she needs to get her hair out of her face, pull up her sleeves and get down to work.

Skills: Physical skills aren't her forte and her body is rather a problem than a solution at the battlefield. She has an eidetic memory as a side effect of her telepathy.
Powers:
Telepathy: Jean's telepathy allows her to read, influence, control, and communicate with the minds of others, project her mind into the astral plane, and generate telepathic force blasts that can stun or kill others. Jean is one of the few telepaths skilled enough to communicate with animals (animals with high intelligence, such as dolphins, dogs, and ravens). She can also telepathically take away or control people's natural bodily functions and senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, taste, or even mutant powers.
Telekinesis: She uses her telekinesis to lift and move objects and often lifts herself and others giving her the ability of levitation and flight. Another use for her telekinesis is to create durable shields and energy blasts.
Weaknesses: Pushing her powers to the very limits of her capacity might cause her to faint or lose consciousness momentarily due to mental exhaustion. Her lithe body is a weakness in and on itself despite all her hard training. Being the kind of person who can't see others suffer can be a weakness when she's in a position where a hard choice has to be made. She'll probably try to protect her friends or the weak even knowing she has no chance of winning unharmed.
<<HISTORY>>

Father: John Grey
Mother: Elaine Grey
Other family: Sarah Grey (older sister, deceased) and her son and daughter Joey and Gailyn Bailey (nephew and niece respectively. both dead). Nathaniel Grey (genetic son), Hope Summers (adopted grand-daughter). It's all a bit confusing with all the alternate realities and her having a clone, but you get the idea. Rachel Summers (genetic daugher), Nathan Christopher Summers (genetic son).
History:
After watching her best friend Annie die at a young age in a traffic accident, Jean's powers woke up way too early for her to be able to control them. Desperate, her father talked to his colleague Professor Xavier, who put a mental barrier on the young girl's mind, so she could lead a normal life until she was ready to learn how to develop her gift.
Years later, she started to train one on one with the Professor to learn to control her powers and ended up joining the "original five", as a member of the first X-Men team. She went to Metro College, where she got a degree on Psychology and worked as a fashion model for a while. Later on, she earned a Master's degree at Columbia University. Unlike other mutants, she always had the support and love of her family, which is probably why she's not as mentally messed up as she could be considering all that has happened to her.
While with the X-Men, she fell in love with Scott Summers, the shy leader who could barely talk to her in the beginning and ended up slowly working towards gaining his trust, though breaking the ice wasn't an easy task. Their love was one of the best things in her life and it was the kind of apparently perfect relationship everyone dreams about, but the truth is that not all that glitters is not gold.
She got possessed by the Phoenix entity in a moment of need, which allowed her to save her team mates' lives and the entire mission but she was unable to detach herself from the Phoenix after that. When the mission was over, the entity felt so intrigued by all the new sensations she was able to experience in that new body, it didn't want to let go and turned both of them into a being thirsty for emotions and new exciting experiences. Things didn't end well and she had to be killed in the end to contain the Phoenix but there's a curious thing about Phoenixes... they just don't tend to stay dead for too long.
Jean came back to life only to find Scott married to a woman who looked just like her and, on top of things, they had a child... but he left it all for her in the end and they got together again. They had their ups and downs, tried to get married twice, only to get something either interrupt of cause trouble right after the wedding and then the marriage just wasn't as dreamy as everyone had thought. Scott messed up and she kept dying on him... we all know that tragic story's end.
I'd very much like to write a lot about everything that happened to her since then, the many times she quit the team and then ended up coming back, joined other teams, died, reincarnated, died, reincarnated (rinse and repeat) and all that complicated stuff she's known for, but I'm not sure how it fits the site plot, so I'll just stop here for now without getting into much detail.
<<ABOUT THE PLAYER>>
Your Name/Alias: Ly (short for Lyorna/Lorna/Lorena)
Age: 27, married to my high school sweetheart and with a 3 and a half year old daughter causing all sorts of trouble
Who else do you play?: Probably Lex and Orux, but I'm not sure I'll create them just yet.
Where did you find us?: I think I was about to give up when I did a silly google search that went something along the lines of "needed canon jean grey" No kidding.
How many years have you been roleplaying?: Since I was 12. That would be 15 years. Gosh, I'm old! Started playing Harry Potter in a forum and then Vampire the Masquerade (the version with paper sheets and a Game Master) a year later. I've been obsessed with X-Men since I was 5 and Jean was always my absolute favorite, though I love Beast, Xavier, Gambit and Storm almost the same. Lately, I've developed a soft spot for Polaris and Scarlet Witch, but that was after becoming a mom.
Roleplaying Sample: Hmm... let me get inspired *takes a deep breath*
Jean lay awake in bed, her mind restless. It was noon and both teams were out halfway across the world on different missions while her latest exciting activity had been finally being able to sit propped on pillows and read. Unlike the Phoenix, she wasn't one to crave for emotions and appreciated the joy of a quiet life, but still hated being idle. She just couldn't stand doing nothing while everyone else was being productive.
It was true that it had been her small sacrifice, her last minute telekinetic thrust, what had saved the day a week ago, but the visual contact and concentration needed to do the deed, had left a huge blind-spot on her defenses for long enough for the enemy to take advantage of her lithe build and this was the result. Two weeks of bed rest. The thought brought about an exasperated sigh, as usual. It wasn't just that she couldn't help out around the Mansion. Whoever was cooking made a terrible job, the girls in charge of changing everyone's sheets and towels that week had mixed them all up despite the labels she had carefully placed in every single piece of clothes and the list was endless!
During her first week of convalescence, she had resigned to miss the morning jog at dawn with the rest of the team and just lift her furniture up and down like giant dumbbells to train her TK. There was no need for such a simple mental exercise, of course, but she had the need to feel she wasn't just slacking off while everyone else stuck to their routines. In the afternoons, she would read books on advanced chess moves and analize the strategy behind them while her friends trained at the Danger Room: another way to feel somehow productive. However, when the need for the teams to leave came and she found herself home alone, with the most basic staff and a whole lot of students she couldn't really teach to as company, calm Jean Grey started to get impatient.
If her injuries had been in a less compromising area, allowing her to get dressed and undressed easily, with no pain, she'd have even allowed for a few of her best students to enter her sanctuary of a bedroom for an out of schedule lesson in... well, she really didn't care about the subject as long as she was doing something!
At that point, a knock on her door put an end to her musings: lunch was ready and it wasn't gonna be tasty. This time, she was determined to talk to whoever was bringing her the food about preparing it herself even from her bed. Maybe she was skillful enough, maybe she didn't need the visual contact to have it all done just as if she were out and about. It was something Jean should have probably tried before, right after she found herself out of the Phoenix force's claws, but she had been afraid, silly as it might seen, that her powers had been so diminished by the separation, she wouldn't be able to do all the things that had become second nature to her over the years. Cooking from her bed, three floors away from the kitchens was just one of all those things and, the least important of all.
"Please, come in," her soft voice, friendly as ever, told whomever was outside her door, knocking for the second time.
