Horus groaned as he shifted slightly in his bed, his mind on painful memories of his past as his torture back on Genosha brought back some unpleasant times when he was with Sinister. Despite his obvious pain still Horus thrashed about in the medical bed, recalling painful strikes of a whip, a knife, and several beatings throughout his growing up to the point he eventually left but it had also been what fueled his previously angry and ferocious demeanor back in the old days. It seemed another vivid dream where the young man was struggling to fight off his beaters like before, this time Sinister pushing to make him go to his full strength as his partial draconic transformation took hold.
Just before he could kill one of the men, who he thought real just now in his nightmare, Horus bolted awake, panting heavily and finding himself not in the torturing rooms of Sinister's labs but in the first level medical room of the X-men manor. It took a moment for him to relax and Horus grunted slightly as he could feel his body become racked with pain when he tried to move to a position where he leaned against the white pillows resting behind his back that gave some relief to his sore back. And quite a sight he was with being practically wrapped in several bandages in various parts of his body, having to even wear shorts for wounds on his legs to have been treated. One eye was even covered which had been the one that had been cut and swollen shut back on Genosha, an event he barely recalled except a few things since he had been in and out of consciousness compared to Tony Stark. Which he hoped the man was doing better then he was.
As Horus looked over at the time he could see it was late afternoon and from being on and off asleep he could figure he had been out two days at least since the return. He hardly recalled much since his return but he did remember the others had been worried, especially his brother Pietro who he knew likely was here or visited frequently. It was obvious the speedster had been there since Horus could smell his scent so at least that was of some comfort. And it helped get his mind off the torture Analisa put him through, much of which he didn't bother to think of and was just glad the others didn't know the extent of it, not even Tony despite him likely hearing some of his suffering just as Horus had heard the Avenger's while he had been trapped in the cells beneath the island.
How he must be such a pitiful sight, with bandages wrapped around his upper arms and one lower arm, back of his hands, around his head with a bandage on one cheek, his chest wrapped diagonally and around his mid-section, one part of his neck had a long bandage on one side, his covered eye, and down much of his legs. Even his wings were a sorrowful sight. They were more or less shredded and had holes in them that'd prevent him from flying for days but it was a miracle they weren't broken off completely. Sighing softly Horus closed his eyes to try and get some more rest but that was when he heard someone coming and looked over to see who was coming to visit him.

There was news that Tony had woken up in the hospital as well but Pietro hadn't exactly had the time to come and visit his team mate. He was sure that Tony would understand and the family matters were at hand once again, he had gone through this before and always tried to make the right choice. He was certain this time that he was not going to go back to Magneto any time soon since the old man had caused so much pain and horror towards the two brothers over the years. It was the last straw for the speedster as he wanted nothing to do with his father. But still it brought guilt to his face as Pietro tried to seek out Carol when she was not in class and on occasions was given odd looks, he had given up the Brotherhood but even so some of the mutants did not trust him for that. And as always he tried to ignore the strange looks because he got it wherever he went.
After a bit of his time on his own after a jog through the mansion's gardens and as well as through the other parts of the outdoors area of the X-Mansion he went to go and see how Horus was doing. He opened up the door to where the medical bay was seeing some students that came in for some sort of training accident or just choosing some not very smart moves with their powers. It wasn't long before Pietro came across his door and opened it. For once Pietro was letting things slow down and not let them speed up as much as he often wanted that to happen. he saw Horus' state and couldn't help but feel guilty since he knew that Horus was going to meet their father first hand. He clenched his fist at the thought of his father's name like he was speaking to the devil himself.
Finally after some silent minutes he spoke up seeing that Horus was a wake, "Horus you feeling any well better?" Pietro asked knowing that was probably a stupid question to ask as he felt like smacking himself for that. Of course he wasn't feeling any better from the state that he was in right now. He could barely stay awake let alone stand. Tony some how seemed to be the better one of the two as he had woken up first from according to the news cast. "Also I found out that Tony woke up in the hospital that the Avengers put him in. He was out for 12 hours. I just feel bad for everything that you two were put through, and I knew about it." Pietro said with a sigh.

It was his brother who had come in and Horus merely smiled weakly, which was a painful action itself since he was sore all over, and he meant all over. But Pietro's question made him let out a painful chuckle, "I'd say I'm feeling slightly better Pietro, obviously I'm awake and sitting up compared to being on and off with being awake so yes to a degree I'm better." He told him, trying to stay positive but could see his brother was guilty.
He wished the speedster wouldn't beat himself up over all this since Horus had chosen to go out to Genosha on his own and hadn't even known Tony was there until later. So it definitely was a shock when he found the Avenger there when he joined Magneto and Exodus in the cells beneath the island nation and seen his poor state. "Pietro, you know I chose to go there and I told you I knew the possible consequences for my actions and that's exactly what happened. The X-men approved it as well, reluctantly might I add but nonetheless I was insistent because we needed the intel and we got some of it between me and Tony I have no doubt." Horus told him, though it was painful to talk and he knew he probably shouldn't be doing much but relatively ignored the staffs concerns at this point since he had to reassure his brother it wasn't his fault. "Now quit with the guilty conscience because none of this is your damn fault."
Maybe Horus was being a little harsh but the draconic mutant wanted to get his point across good and clear. He chose to go, chose to spy on the Brotherhood and chose to do what he could to try and help Tony any way he could when discovering him there. If that meant getting torture by Analisa or others of the Brotherhood it was worth it to make the suffering less for others than himself. "Besides, torture is nothing new for me."

"That's good news at least. I hope that it won't be long for your full recovery. If you're anything like me you'll be sick of a hospital bed in a couple of days." Pietro said with a soft smile glad that he was at least feeling better. His eyes fell upon him seeing the horrible state that Horus was in. He could only wonder how bad Tony was facing, but apparently it was nothing as serious as the torture that Horus had been through.
"Alright Horus I'll do my best to stop feeling so guilty. I think it's time I let that go." Pietro said knowing that there was one thing that he was not going to leave him so easily. He had denounced his father and wasn't exactly ready to go face the man so soon. he hated his father as it was clear that it still burned within him for all those years. It would likely never change as Pietro was not willing to even show his former family towards Magneto. he wanted to keep Crystal as far away from that man's hands if it was the last thing he could do for her as a father. He was a pathetic father he had to admit, but at least he wasn't anything like his own father to being so cruel and harsh towards others. That was what probably separated the speedster from the Master of Magnetism now that he thought about it. He put a hand down on Horus' shoulder, the one that hadn't been casted since he knew it was going to likely hurt if he tried it.
"And now you won't have to suffer that torture any more." Pietro said as he seemed to be having some memories of his own pain from when he was a young teenagner and the only thing that was on his mind was having to run from everything. Back then humans barely understood themselves and as well as the few mutants that were starting to appear. Pietro and Wanda were beaten on the streets for looking different when they had been so young. So in a way he could understand Horus' pain as he looked back at him. "I never really told anyone about this except for Wanda because she was a part of it. But when we first had our powers she and I were beaten on the side of streets from mobs that were there and gathering. They didn't understand mutants at the time and thought Wanda was something along the lines of a witch-which is sort of how she got her name from it. So I guess that was sort of our torture for humans not understanding us." Pietro said with a sigh as it was clear that those were not fond memories of his or his sisters.

"It'll be a few weeks Pietro, maybe a couple months at best. My wings might take longer considering their condition, I'm lucky enough they're not broken like when we faced Anya." Horus told him, but tried to give an encouraging smile but that meant he would be stuck inside for a while and grounded even longer than that. Though it was true he likely he would eventually get tired of this hospital place and definitely might try to get some air once in a while. That's if he could actually move without causing his injuries to open up and begin bleeding badly again like they had once been doing so. That was one problem as it would be at least a week or two before he could chance moving too much without worrying of reopening wounds and causing scars from the wounds constantly opening and closing so much.
But that was on drawback of his mutation. Unlike most animal-based mutations he had no healing factor nor did he have much of a quicker healing. "Come on Pietro, like I said none of this was your fault to begin with, especially not my decision to go on Genosha in the first place. Even if Tony hadn't been there if they discovered I was a spy before hand I likely would have faced a similar treatment to begin with." Horus told him, giving a light shrug of his good shoulder to show it didn't bother him much at all for what he decided to do. "Trust me, it could have been a lot worse, think we're lucky me and Tony got back alive at all. My torture stopped after I confessed of who I really was, so you could say in a way our father had some mercy and stopped Analisa before she could continue her sadistic ways." Horus explained wondering if perhaps when he had said something it struck a cord somehow in Erik but obviously not enough to let him go. Then again that could have been from being a spy for a short time.
Listening to his half-brother he frowned at hearing this remembering Pietro told him some of this but he had never known it was that bad. No wonder the two had only trusted each other for so long and had so much trouble fitting in anywhere, maybe it explained why Erik had taken them in even before he knew they were his children. "Well, least you don't have to suffer that any more either Pietro, neither does Wanda." Horus told him.

"I see. At least you'll be up and out of the hospital area at some point. I can't even say it's going to be a speedy recovery." Pietro said knowing that it'd be some time before Horus felt like himself again. If Pietro was in his spot he would have been wanting to recover ridiculously fast. The speedster hated things when they were going slow as they were not his thing at all. It was clear that he preferred things to go fast and that was it. Of course even Pietro had to sit down and slow down on occasions.
"Some mercy but not fully having any." Pietro said from experience. Each time that he had failed a mission with the Brotherhood he knew that his father would give him some sort of blow or punishment. Even if the problem hadn't entirely been his fault they still had to worry about it. This was where the term 'failure is not an option' came into play. "I suppose you're right. I'm sure Tony's on his way to recovering as well last I heard. The Avengers have been keeping me updated to find out how they're doing. But I will say one thing, Clint, Francis and Garret gave Analisa a head injury while they were in the fight and I think that might have been one of the reasons why she backed off. That and our father stopped." Pietro said as he remembered something that had happened during the fight. he wasn't entirely sure if Horus had heard about it. But his theories on Anya had been correct when the mistress of magnetism said it herself. She was her father's first daughter. But Pietro never really got to meet her because she had died rather young, in her teenaged years. "You know Horus, one of the reasons why Magneto stopped was because Anya had confirmed the fact that she was our sister. So I guess my theories were correct."
"You're right and neither do you." Pietro said as he listened to what Horus had to say. The pain was over for all three of them. But he doubted that Anya would change so soon. She was obsessed with Magneto like the other villains were. If the mistress were ever to change, she'd have to let go of their father first. But it was clear that she was too attached to his so called love. What interest did she have in that man? Did she just view him as some sort of savior? It sent a shiver down Pietro's spine as he thought about it that way. Sometimes the world could be so twisted and sick.

"Speedy recovery? Doubt it brother, this will be a rather long recovery before I could ever think to even more much without my wounds continuously opening every time I move." Horus said, showing he wished for it to be a fast recovery but not very likely. His condition was pretty bad and the whispers he heard from the nurses spoke of him being lucky to be alive. But all that mattered was Tony was alive and getting better, knowing if he hadn't intervened the man would be facing worse punishment, something he couldn't allow. But in a way he had become use to such torture.
Though he shook his head towards Pietro, "Pietro, mercy is mercy. I'd rather have had some kind than none at all. Analisa's torture was sadistic as it was and she was making a death I likely could have faced slow and painful, I'd have rather died instantly than continue her tortures. " Horus told him, his tone somewhat serious as he shuddered at the memories before shaking his head, not wanting to talk about what had happened. "Honestly, I hope that head injury kills her, if Garrett hit her hard enough. Much as that sounds dark she deserves it." Horus muttered, obviously showing he was not above getting his own revenge if it ever came down to it. But for now he only listened to Pietro who he nodded slightly, "I was out of it mostly Pietro but yes I heard Magneta, she confessed everything and the aura I saw around our father wasn't just shock, there was regret and sorrow, a great sorrow. I just wonder if what she said triggered something in him, feelings we may not even know of that affects him." Though Horus wasn't exactly defending their father it seemed he had stopped because Anya was alive and maybe those old memories had popped up. Maybe it was the reason why he stopped the entire attack but after that Horus had gone unconscious completely and hadn't heard the underlying threat after.
Though as he went to tell his brother he doubted the torture was over that was when a nurse came in, carrying something in her arms. "Mr.Herrmann, here's the paper work you asked for and a pen, but try not to push yourself." The nurse said, her tone partly stern as she set the papers in his lap along with the pen, the top of the papers showing an official mark of some adoption agencies might have. "Thanks, I'll be sure to be careful."Horus assured the woman as he watched her leave before he carefully went to reading and writing the papers knowing his brother would likely become curious. "As I was fixing to say, I doubt my torture will ever be over Pietro. Not with Sinister still running around, I'll never be safe." He said to him as he was sighing some things on the first sheet.

"Yeah I guess that was the wrong word to say." Pietro agreed as he looked back at his brother. It wasn't like Horus had a healing factor like Wolverine's had. But that was not possible obviously. The torture and pain that he had been through that was going to be harsher than what he had been through while he had been on the run with Wanda while they were teenagers. The two brothers had felt different kinds of pain that they seemed to understand each other with.
"She definitely deserves it that's for sure." Pietro agreed seeing that there was no hope to try and turn things around with most of the current Brotherhood. They were cold, merciless and dangerous. Pietro could even see this the last time they were there as they fought their own family members. He couldn't believe it, family members were being ripped apart because of this war that Magneto was bringing and even he had to admit that he was sure that Magneto was better off without his twin children. They hadn't been around when they were young and orphans, at least that's what they thought. Magda knew who he was and that was what mattered, their father was a monster and she was trying to protect the twins. But when Horus had mentioned the sorrow it didn't seem to bother him that much. He didn't feel sorry for his father one bit anymore. If his father would have truly wanted to try and change, he would've done it by now. "I hate to admit it Horus but I don't see our father changing any time soon. He had said that he was going to change to my face. But it was clear he lied about it. He lied to me and my sister about it. I thought he did and almost trusted his word, but after this event I don't trust him one bit." He said shaking his head in disapproval.
Pietro paused as he looked up seeing the nurse as she arrived with the paper work but he remained quiet as he let Horus speak towards her. He sighed as he looked back at Horus when he mentioned that he wasn't going to be safe entirely. "I'll at least fight for you Horus. I'm on your side and as well as Wanda. She's both our sisters now."

"Next time I see her think I owe her a few wounds myself." Horus muttered as he finished the second page of the papers and carefully set them to the back of the stack each time he finished them. But all the while he still also listened to his older brother, having come to learn how to multitask since he had needed to do so several times. It pretty much had become second nature to him both on and off the battle field these days. But he had paused to think of a few scenarios to make the neyaphem woman suffer before quickly shaking his head, not wanting to allow those dark thoughts to return to his mind and certainly not wanting to alarm any telepaths in the mansion who might overhear them.
Looking up from what he was doing though Horus listened to his brother and he could only shrug lightly, trying to avoid bringing more pain to his body. "Honestly, we may never know the process of our father's thinking Pietro. For all we know he truly might have been trying to change and just he couldn't break old habits, which is the problem in our world today. You never know if someone is truly trying since you never are around certain people for too long." Horus told him as he looked back at the third paper and went to signing his signature on a few dotted lines and then shifting it behind the rest and working on the final sheet. "Fact of the matter is since you and Wanda left Genosha and the Brotherhood you wouldn't have a clue like the rest of us what is going on with our father and his new Brotherhood. My spying really turned up little. As I suspected before, Magneto didn't trust me and you really have to prove your worth before you'd know plans or he probably just found something strange about me." He said.
Finishing the last sheet he put it behind the rest once again before carefully shifting and shuffling the stack in a neat pile and setting them on a side table. "But on a much more positive note, and since we're on the topic of family, you might be glad to know you're going to be a new uncle. I decided I'm adopting that girl I told you about brother, Taji will soon be my adoptive daughter. But I just need to see if she is willing to go through with it as well."

"I doubt it. I don't trust him one bit after what happened to the last few days." Pietro agreed with that as he looked back at his brother. His blue eyes narrowed at the thought, what a disgusting thought it was to be honest. He didn't want to see his father any time soon because of it and as he thought about it more and more his mother had every right to take him and his sister away from Magneto. She saw the monster in him and wanted to protect the two twins. But that didn't seem the case as their fate would eventually meet up with him. But he continued to listen to what Horus had to say about Magneto and everything was pretty much true about him. "Exactly. I think Wanda and I were just special when we had joined. He saw that we could be of 'use' to him when we were being harmed by the humans. Back then, he had no idea that we were son, daughter, and father. Blood related even didn't seem to come across his mind." He said with a sigh as his unwelcoming memories came flooding back to those unpleasant times. How unpleasant they were, was very large word to say, not even exaggeration for that matter.
"As for the Brotherhood, then you understand how hard it is to get into it. He trusts only few and keeps his friends close for that matter. He has Exodus to his complete trust as his right hand man. That man probably won't even change sides even if his life was on the line." Pietro said knowing how serious it could be for some of the villains that were on the team. They were going to be in for it later on as the Brotherhood were getting bolder and bolder by the minute from the looks of things. But he hoped at least for now that the pounding that the Avengers and X-Men gave him was enough to keep Magneto quiet for some time. They could only hope, who was to say that tomorrow he was planning the next round of domination while their backs were turned? He shook his head, "It's alright that you didn't get anything out of the spying though, Horus. Sometimes we don't get anything even if a mission goes completely right. We got you and Tony out safe and sound." He added.
Though the next part surprised him when he mentioned the fact that he was going to adopt a member in the X-Men. It wasn't the first time that he was an Uncle being that he had Speed and Wiccan as nephews from Wanda and Vision. He was already used to that. Though time would only tell when he'd start having children of his own possibly with Carol. Obviously they'd have to wait a bit longer than normal due to the fact that Carol was a bit under aged to have children. But he didn't seem to mind that, for now they could just take it steady and slow. "Well congratulations on that one, Horus. I'm already an uncle on Wanda's side because she has two twin boys but I'm sure I'll do my best at being one once more." Pietro said as he put a hand on his shoulder. However, he was gentle on his brother making sure it wasn't a rough one seeing the condition that he was in right now.

"I'll admit Pietro in his own ways he is quite the monster, and you have every right to disown and hate our father. You and Wanda most of all in fact have those reasons." Horus told him, but there was a long hesitation before he continued, "But the fact of the matter is everyone is a monster in their own right, and it's just very likely Magneto knows no other way. Xavier might have tried to show him that but whatever happened back then obviously was always fresh in his mind even into our current time so it's just a habit that cannot be broken." Horus said with great reluctance to show any reasoning for the likes of their father. Maybe that was what drove their father to be the man he was today, and the man he was way back during the first days of the Brotherhood, a time Pietro had known a long way back.
Perhaps that was the reasoning behind a lot of the Brotherhood members? Somehow all of them had some kind of similarity, and most often it was the pain caused by another or a horrible past, or something they considered a horrible past. It just seemed usually the mutants were driven to Genosha, to Magneto's clutches by an unfortunate event and usually that could never easily be healed, being a way Magneto could control them. "I think he just has trust issues brother, but loyalty takes time to build and some of them he obviously has that trust enough. Exodus just happens to be one he trusts with his life obviously." The draconic mutant said with a shrug as he leaned his head back with a soft yawn, obviously being a little tired. "I just came to the conclusion there is always one thing that the Brotherhood has in common: troubled pasts or horrible events, ones that drive them in the path of Magneto. You and Wanda would have been no different." Horus told him.
"Twins huh, sounds like having twins must run in the family." Horus joked a bit, though the shaking of his body from the laugh made him wince, realizing once again he needed to take it easy. Nonetheless he smiled at that, "But I don't know for sure when it'll be official. I still have to talk to Taji and see if she would agree to it first, though if things go well then she will be part of the family but far from the reach of the Brotherhood and Sinister." He told him with deep assurance.

"I think you're right on that one. We may never know what fully happened but my mother was smart and she figured out that she was with a monster on her own. She tried to keep us away from him but it didn't seem to work for all that time." Pietro said with a sigh as he remembered those days pretty well. There were some nights where they didn't even get any sleep or any food in their stomachs. The humans that time didn't understand mutants at that time and it was just unfair. Pietro had a doubt in his mind that his father would never change, as the old saying went, once a villain always a villain. That very fact could be said for many of the villains that were out there like Doctor Doom for a fact. There was probably no chance that he'd change over to the heroes unless something was in for him.
He nodded with Horus on that one when they didn't exactly have great pasts. None of them which were pleasant. Looking upon some of the current brotherhood members, Horus' theory was right. Each villain that he knew like Sabertooth, Mystique, Exodus and his father himself all had horrible pasts that couldn't exactly fix so easily. Sure they could find someone who might be able to send them to a different time zone where things were different but it still wouldn't change his position. He'd and Horus would always be sons of Magneto who was one of the most hated people on the planet. "You're right with that one, Horus. As I thought about it, it is very true. I still don't even understand how he and Xavier were friends once...maybe that was before Magneto went mad with mutant domination."
Though Pietro's sadness seemed to disappear when the mention of a potential new family member was coming in. This was exciting since Wanda already had her two children as he managed to bring a soft smile to his face when Horus had mentioned it. He nodded again when he seemed surprised that twins ran in the family. For all he knew, if things went right with him and Carol and they had kids, they might possibly have twins themselves. But the thing was, he wasn't about to show them to Magneto, in fact he didn't even want to step on his island for that matter. "Well when it does happen could you let us know? I think Wanda would be excited to be an Aunt for the first time." Pietro asked, knowing that there was certainly an endless amount of love from her to the family.

"Maybe Pietro, she probably could have just been scared for not understanding her husband. Maybe she truly saw him as a monster and got afraid for her own life being in danger. But like you said we may never know what truly happened, especially since you've made it sound like he is not so keen as to dwell on painful thoughts and memories." Horus said with a nod as it seemed despite how calm Magneto often was there was a deep seeded hatred there as well. In one aspect the young man could understand why the older mutant would be so angry and hateful considering the era he grew up in. Yet at the same time there seemed to be an uncertain thing they were missing of why Magneto came to hate humans so much. Though he probably had some soft spots since he did have Lorna after all.
"Hm, maybe that's why they were so suspicious of me even more when I went to spy there. My back story probably wasn't horrible enough." Horus said, partly joking but he couldn't exactly give away his background that easily. And much like his father he did not want to relive those moments and in some ways it was like his brother who hated to consider the past so that seemed one thing they all had in common. Though Horus decided it was best not to say anything about that.
He smiled a bit though, glad to see some of Pietro's sadness disappear. "You know I will Pietro, and I think she will fit in fine with our family. Hopefully if I ever become mobile enough I can find her or she gets the chance to visit I'll talk to her about it then." He told him, his tone being quite excited about the whole thing. Though another yawn escaped him as it was clear he might not be lasting much longer. "Unfortunately, I may need to have another nap here soon brother."He said apologetically.
