Jean could feel Taji's fear and understood them all too well. She had been as stubborn as her young student back in the day and still was sometimes, when things got too terrible. But she trusted her protegee to eventually see reason the way she had. If not, Jean had promised herself to come back in a couple of days with more food and supplies to make Taji's life easier, so she'd take another shot then.
The older mutant seemed as surprised with that as the girl herself. "It seems as if it's been trying to get to you for quite a while... maybe it's the part of your mind that controls the dragon?" She didn't sound too sure. It would take a deeper exam of Taji's head to have more conclusive information but Jean didn't feel like pushing her luck. It was enough progress to be allowed to enter and stay there for a while, talking. "Perhaps whatever was done to you was too much for your mind to handle and had to let another part of you take over that task." Jean couldn't believe her own words. It was the Saint Grail of Psychology and Psychiatry... and she wished with all her being that her gut feeling was wrong. That sweet young girl deserved so much more.
