Garrett sighed as he walked the streets of the part of New York known as Mutant Town, being one part of the city he was actually rather familiar with. Though this was mostly because he had an apartment there whenever he was not needed around the mansion, seeing that he didn't need to be there twenty four-seven when he was really only a substitute and had other life goals in mind. One most of all was to be an UFC fighter since it involved one of the main things he was rather passionate about-fighting and combat. It was the one thing that had helped him to be on the right path in life and helped him to get through the tough times of life, even as an X-man.
But lately there had involved few missions and any they did take didn't involve much of physical combat, not even the recent rescue mission of Tony Stark and Horus Herrmann which made him bored and surprisingly miss his home town of New Orleans. At least there he knew a handful of people and many on the fighting circuits around the local counties, though these ones were legal and something he had done in and out of school despite what his parents had said. Though he did occasionally do a fight or two as an instructor it never was the same and well New York just wasn't New Orleans. It had no swamps, major canals and trees, boating, and the many other spices of life the old city had to offer, something he was missing these days. It was likely he had truly left a piece of his own self behind and now he almost craved to go back or enjoy the old times again. Despite this though those days were over and he knew he had had to move on with his life back then, knowing his life was now here.
Besides he did have some things going for him more than back home, and there was someone in particular he hoped to get close to but he didn't know for sure when the moment would be right. So for now he had left his apartment to take a long stroll, trying to alleviate some of that boredom that was plaguing his life at this moment but even then it wasn't helping. And no crime seemed to be coming his way at this very moment. Luckily though there Garrett didn't have to worry about hiding his unusual eyes as many mutants there looked different or could indicate they were mutants outside this part of town.
What Garrett was really looking for was some kind of distraction, anything to take his mind off the homesickness that was hitting him. He wanted to have some spice to his life to make this day interesting and the young cajun probably would get his very wish. No sooner had he passed an alleyway however did that wish come true as a rather large group of common thugs appeared, half from one alley and half from the one he just passed. "Can ah help you gentlemen?" Garrett asked, for now being calm as he watched the group who all seemed rather smug and confident, obviously being a bunch of anti-mutant supporters, that much was apparent. "Yea mutant, you can stand still and just make this real easy."One of them said as they began to move in, the man who spoke smacking a crowbar on his palm. Looking between the two groups Garrett's eyes glowed an electric blue as beneath his white t-shirt his tribal tattoo also took on the same glow, "Ah don't think so amigo, much prefer ta fight mah battles head on." Garrett responded as kinetic energy, looking much like electrical sparks coming off his arms, moved towards his fingers and he fired them in low-powered concentrated blasts to knock the men back.
The one thing though he would no resort to is killing these men, knowing that was not what Xavier taught them but he knew he would have to be careful as there were quite the numbers there. Despite the blasts though some still were able to surge forward and rush at the young cajun, each swinging a weapon or their fists which forced Garrett to dodge around and strike back but a strike to his shoulder made him wince before an elbow to the gut made him stumble back that was followed by a punch. Wiping some blood from his mouth, Garrett projected a kinetic forcefield outward form himself, causing their next attacks to bounce back upon them for a moment to allow him to catch his bearings. "Well, dis might be more den ah expected ta face."He muttered, beginning to realize he may have to resort to some drastic measures if he didn't call for some back up.
But he was far from the mansion and likely had no one close by at this time of the evening. So, who exactly could he call in this time of need?

Remy happened to be in the area doing a few things, such as stocking up on necessities. He lived in an apartment not too far from Mutant Town, though he still taught at the Jean Grey school. He had personal reasons for not living there. It had been a couple of months since moving back to NY from Louisiana. One X-Man that he has not had the chance to really know is Garrett, even though he's a fellow Cajun. It seemed that Garrett lived separate from the school as well though.
Now Mutant Town was the last place Remy expected any hate crimes against their kind, but since it wasn't closed off to the general public, it was bound to happen. As he headed to this car with some bags, he heard an altercation going on, not far from him. The Cajun mutant quickly put the bags in the car and grabbed his staff from the back seat. Someone needed his help. Now, Gambit didn't want to cause more trouble than there already was, but he couldn't just stand idle. Following the noise, he headed down the street. This is when he saw Garrett being beaten. It appeared that the other mutant was trying to defend himself against such cruelty.
"Now dere be no party without games mez amis," said Remy, clucthing his staff with one hand and cards with the other, ready to charge and attack. His eyes were glowing red, as he readied himself to fight back. He was emphasizing his cards. "How bout we play 'fifty two pick up'...it'd be a blast," he said. He was one for puns. He charged the cards and tossed them towards the men that were attacking Garrett. Remy was a pretty powerful mutant that could cause explosions with his power and cause a lot of destruction. He ran towards Garrett so he could grab the mutant and pull him out of the way. A couple of the cards hit the dumpster behind the men, causing it to explode burning garbage.

Logan happened to be in the area as well, but he was at least a street or two down. The feral mutant was known not to hang around in one palce for long and he was just trying to spend some time away from the X-Mansion. But he had to return soon at some point before he started ignoring his classes. That was not at all like him unless he gave some notice ahead of time like signs or messages on the door where the students normally would meet. "Class canceled due to further notice." was often what he wrote if he had no idea when he was going to come back. But today was not one of those days as he was planning on returning that evening to the X-Mansion where one of his combat classes would be taken. He was mostly walking down the street almost like he was pacing until he heard something nearby like a sharp explosion. It made some of the citizens scream from being startled by it and it sent a ring through his ears as he turned to see what direction it had come from.
The smell of ash and smoke was starting to be come heavy in his mind as he was expecting the worst to happen while he was out. He raced forward through the ally ways and managed to avoid almost running into one of the other people that was running in the opposite direction from the blast. A collision would have not been pretty as far as he was concerned. It would have left a mark on both of them, but Logan would have been able to recover faster due to his healing factor. The wounds would have not been so severe for him. As he turned the corner ahead he could smell the smoke a lot easier now as he looked up seeing rising dust and clouding his vision a bit. But it was clear someone was still there causing all of this. It looked like they hadn't left the scene just yet as their scents were fresh. Logan recognized both of them almost easily from two people that had been visiting the mansion. Both of them were Cajuns as Remy Lebeau and as well as Garrett Ferro. "Tch you guys really know how to throw a party around these parts. You guys scared half a city block full of people." Logan said as he looked through the smoke trying to find the two people that had caused it. But he realized that he wasn't alone along with the two Cajuns. There were others here. This was probably in reaction towards a mutant hated crime as they always seemed to pop up from now and again as he brought out his adamantium claws with a familiar "snikt" noise that they made when he was released.
"Well, I hope you don't mind if I end up crashing it further with these punks." Logan said knowing that he wanted a piece of this fight also. But of course the two others may have not wanted him in this. He was familiar in fighting but would also keep the fools who had done this alive just as Xavier had always taught them that. He'd respect that from their supposed deceased leader

It didn't take long for Garrett to recover, having endured a beating like this before, just a little before he decided to leave home as a teenager. And it seemed these thugs had gotten the idea they were not getting through so it left them open and the young Cajun saw his opportunity as he channeled his kinetic energy to his legs and rushed forward to knock some of his attackers down. Though they were shocked those that remained once again took advantage of their numbers and managed to get a few blows in though not without Garrett fighting back, even managing to catch one man by the arm and twist it behind his back before kicking him towards another of his fellows.
The sudden sound of another showing up caught everyone's attention then, Garrett especially since he recognized a Cajun accent when he heard it. Turning he was a little surprised to see one of the veteran X-men, or well X-men allies now from what he heard, had shown up and the timing couldn't be better. And just like that Garrett noticed Remy charging the cards making his eyes widen and react immediately to moving away as they were thrown, but some of the explosions made Garrett raise a shield off to his side to avoid the shock waves that came as a result and ended up meeting former thief in all the chaos. "Ya know, dis couldn't be any better timin', Gambit ah assume." Garrett said as they moved from the rest of the explosions though he whistled slightly as he couldn't help admitting Gambit's powers were impressive first hand though he had to wonder if there was something in the New Orleans air. Kinetic powers seemed quite common among the Cajuns, though it might very well be just a coincidence.
"Sorry 'bout dat Logan, dese numbskulls decided ta pick a night ta be idiots." Garrett said, nodding a greeting to the feral mutant as he arrived before glancing towards the side of the building and got and idea to help force these guys to leave. "An' dis is an open invitation party Logan, knock yaself out." He told him, rushing to the wall as the same sparking energy showed on the bottoms of his feet and he ran along the side high enough he could be above the men, channeling the energy in his hands as he went knowing he couldn't stay too long on a vertical surface with his kinetic sliding. "Now what's a party without a little fireworks?" He said with a kind of grin before he tossed several small spheres of what he dubbed kinetic "marbles" that went tumbling down around the men and began going off like fireworks, causing enough damage to leave bruises on the men.

Remy noticed his old friend and team mate Logan joining in the fun. Since his return to New York and since accepting the teaching position, he hadn't really had the chance to catch up with him. "Mon ami, come an' join our soiree. It's been awhile since we fought side by side," he said to Logan, clutching his bo staff.
In a way this felt like old times again, back when he was an active member of the X-Men. It was the thrill of the fight that made him most nostaIgic. He still had his stealth and dexterity in his ripe old age of 42 and fought the same as he used to, if not, with more care. He gave a nod to Garrett. "Oui mon ami, de name's Gambit," he said to the X-man.
Remy watched as the younger mutant used his power and was quite amazed the power. It was similar to his, but different. The men seemed phased by it. He approached them.
"Ah suggest ya'll get outta here. Now, de mutants here are innocent, but dey ain't gonna take kindly to y'alls antics here. It's like playin' wit fire," said Remy, wanting things to end as peacefully as possible. All that seemed to do was agitate the men further, even though some of them were injured pretty badly. They had some nerve aggravating a town full of mutants.

Compared to these two they were still kids in Logan's mind. He had been around for hundreds of years by now. But age hadn't meant much to him now a days. most of the people that he knew-except for the likes of Sabertooth were dead. He hadn't found a single family member on his travels into Canada to find loved ones that had been in his past life. The memories that he had forgotten were probably numerous and would have unlocked secrets that only he would have known about. But for now he was left with the home of Xavier's and to teach students all the rights that he had made in the world and also to make sure that they would not make the same mistakes that he had. He nodded back to Remy, he had to admit the older Cajun it was a long time since he had last fought with him, and he wondered if anything had changed in his fighting style. Logan would notice. "Well then don't mind if I do." He said as he looked back at Gambit. "And it's good to see you again Gambit. Still trying to impress the ladies with your card playing?" He asked though there was a bit of his humor in it he knew this was a serious time. Who said that Logan had to be cruel all the time? Even he had a sharp sense of humor...that was when he allowed it.
He soon came forward as he relied on his hearing as he heard one of the goons come running, his back was turned as he waited for the idiot to make the wrong move, and once he came forward he brought out his claws and swiped at the thug. They yelled in pain as the adamantium went through their flesh, blood now dripped on his claws. But it wasn't the first blood that he had gotten on his claws. He could smell it as it leaked down and dripped onto the floor. He wasn't done yet as he gave a sharp thrusting hit with his other elbow in the face as he brought his claws back. This was almost too easy he realized, these thugs barely knew how to fight.
Once he had a break as the man dropped to the ground from loss of consciousness, but would survive, the wounds had not been so deep that the poor fellow would have been killed right on the spot. He looked back at Gambit, "I see you two just met. Garrett is one of the new students at Xavier's school. I've seen some of his powers and he's pretty impressive." Logan said having to admit it himself. Garrett was a fine fighter but maybe there was more that he could learn over the years once he unlocked his full potential. Though he couldn't exactly see with the bright lights from the fire works as Garrett lit up the alleyway he still had other ways to get around in fighting these days. His super human smell and as well as hearing. Who said he was blind as a bat at this point when the other senses were clear as day.

Seeing Logan take down some more of the men Garrett could tell the group had lost much it's resolve. Most of them, if they hadn't been knocked out, dropped their weapons and took off in obvious fear or surrender. Least most of them were smart to know when they were defeated but there were a few that remained. So, they were a little stubborn to say the least.
"Ya know gentlemen, think dis is a private party. Ya weren't invited." Garrett said as he pushed off the wall and flipped to land behind the remaining men with his hands sill charged with kinetic energy. "Now, how 'bout ya'll take my friend dere's advice mon amies an' get." Resting his hands in quick succession on their shoulders or back Garrett sent a charge of kinetic energy through the last remaining five men still standing or sticking around and against their wills sent them walking away rather quickly. But such an energy transfer took a visible toll and Garrett found himself having to kneel on one knee for a bit just to regain himself since he hadn't done so much transfer of his power before.
"Well dat could have gone better." He muttered before glancing up at the veteran x-men and stood unsteadily on his feet. "Not much of a challenge though, which was a shame." He remarked though, wishing the fight could have been a little more fun than what the anti-mutant supporters put up.

Remy had a feeling the men would be back. If not them, others. It was a sad situation. Mutants were not understood, so were hated by many. He wished they could do much more. He wished they could keep the mutant haters out, but that would be hard without building a gate or resorting to having a curfew, but that could easily backfire. There was a fine line between protecting citizens and making them feel like they're in a prison. "Mon ami, if ya want a mo' excitin' fight, ya may hafta venture outta mutant town," he stated, lighting a cigarette. It was true that their biggest enemies were mutants themselves who would more than likely be found harming non mutants. Remy took a puff and turned to Logan.
"Ol' friend, ta ansah ya question, ah don't evah have ta try ta impress de ladies. Ya know me Logan," said Remy, with a smirk, as he puffed away on his cigarette. He still had his charm, but since he had a daughter to raise, he wasn't as much of a womanizer as he was before as he had priorities, but he still didn't really have to try and impress them. He went on, "actually, ah still enjoy a nice card game once in awhile, but Desiree keeps me busy," he added.
It was good to be back in New York and to get in on the action. New Orleans had action, but not the same kind. At least here, he was among the X-Men, even though he technically wasn't on the team.

"Apparently they don't believe in things like getting lost." Logan said seeing that it was the truth. You tell someone to get lost and they don't listen even to someone as scary as Magneto. But he wasn't here, it was just the three of them and by now they should have put their brains together to realize their big scary group was starting to dwindle down to nothing. But just as he was getting started the young kajan sent them scurrying as he gave them almost a mind command as they walked away on a drunken like spell out of the area and didn't even think about trying to come back and harm them. It figured though, if he wanted a real fight he would probably have to go to the Danger Room. But how many times had he gotten the high scores there? It had been countless times, that was for sure.
"I go back and forth with the Avengers, and the X-Men. You think that'd keep me busy and it does. Between Stark's, Rogers, and as well as the X-Men, I can hardly settle down these days. But I wouldn't turn down a card game as long as you do it fairly. Like not blasting me into a wall like the first time." Logan said with a look that he meant that he was being serious. But with Gambit he normally did show of a joking side but it was more of a dry one. Logan's sense of humor had faded through the years had dampened it was clear on that, but towards close friends they probably could see it in him.
But an idea came between him as he thought about it, "How about a weekend when we both have nothing better to do?" He offered. But for now the night was still young and they had some time before he had to go back to try and get going on another class. He normally would have been fair and put up a sign saying that it was canceled but tonight he did not, and that was going to look bad on his watch if he didn't show up so he couldn't stay out all night sadly. Maybe for about two or one and a half hours? That was better than nothing.
He looked back to the young x-men, as he seemed a bit disappointed. He came over to where Garrett was standing wondering if there was more on the man's mind. "Is everything alright kid? You seem a bit disappointed about something. or was it more than that?" He asked giving Garrett and as well as Gambit their attention if they needed him.

Leave Mutant Town for a while...that sounded strangely like a nice idea. Garrett had not left New York for almost six to seven years when you didn't count missions wit the X-men or a field trip here and there. He never once had taken a vacation or took time to himself, never considering maybe it was time to take a break. And in recent years he had thought about home, New Orleans which never seemed to really change no matter the years that went by. The only thing that changed were the people that lived there or came and went as tourists. And he couldn't stop thinking about maybe it being time he made amends with his family when he had completely cut them as a younger man, a teen who had been acting stupid and ran away like he could handle himself. Of course he could, but that was still no excuse when he knew his parents had just been trying to do their best for him.
Listening to the two Garrett was silent for now, not knowing what to say back to Remy in this situation at first until Logan spoke towards him. "Yea, ah'm a bit disappointed Logan. Figured ya would know me by now, always lookin' for a fight and can never seem ta get enough of them." Garrett said with a light chuckle and partially joking. Although it could be rather true at times, which was why he had the codename of Armel after all. But his smile faded slightly as he considered Logan's question, sighing and rubbing the back of his head. "There's been a lot on mah mind Logan, surprised it hasn't made mah head hurt yet. Not really da one ta do a lot of thinking after all." He said, though the joking tone in his voice right now was pretty much gone as he considered telling them or not. And whether they really cared.
But why should he be worrying if they didn't care or not? They were after all his teammates and no doubt could understand these feelings better than anyone when Remy himself was from New Orleans and Logan was from Canada, both far from home. "Guess ah jus' got a lot ah been thinking about. Mostly been home sick ta be honest, haven't been back to New Orleans since taking off as a teenager. Did da stupidest thing a teen could do at dat age and of course dere's Jamini..."He seemed to trail off a bit and redden a bit in embarrassment, knowing he hadn't quite spoke up about that before or really expressed such feelings for the young woman around the others. And well, unlike Gambit he wasn't much for the womanizing despite only being twenty five years old. "What ah'm trying ta say is dat it might be time ah cleared da air with some stuff. Besides ah could use a vacation. Between helping at Xavier's and dat dojo ah help at sounds like a good idea right about now."
