A cure ha been explored for many, many years in order to rid of the mutants. They were viewed as a menace to society and dangerous to the homo sapien way of life, a possible chance that they may in fact go extinct. Such fears drove 'normal' humans to try and contain this problem but there had also been concern by others of those who were genetically changed or had powers that weren't mutant related. So the questions always came to this: Should there be a cure just for mutant kind? Or should there be a cure for all superpowered beings as a whole? That was a question too often asked and there rarely seemed a permanent fix or the solution was always disposed of by someone somewhere never satisfied with these 'cures'.
Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for some, there was yet another attempt for such a cure to be made this time to rid of all superpowers known to man kind. This time though the scientists needed volunteers and they had gotten a few with mixed results. Today though two young female mutants where there with having heard rumors of this possible solution to ridding of their powers for good. Laurie Tromette and Carol Evergreen, two students from the Jean Grey School, had come to the place about two days ago and had been watched for two days now. They were now on the third day and had a painful change for a day and a half before they actually looked like normal human beings, a strange feeling for Carol who had always had a demonic appearance. She now had light olive tan skin, pupils to her eyes, and no longer had her tail or pointed ears, an experiment that looked like should have been a success story. It could be said for Laurie who once again had her fair skin, dark brown eyes and lighter. Town hair back, the shifting crystal cover of her blue skin now gone along with the bone protrusions. And what's more neither seemed to have their other powers which surely they were happy for and couldn't help jumping for joy and crying happily, both no doubt glad to be normal at last instead of having what they felt like had been a curse.
Their celebration though was soon interrupted as one of the scientists stepped in, the man looking quite pleased with himself. "Seems your experiment results were a success girls, no strange readings on your vitals so you are free to go." He assured them as they both quickly thanked the man without really inquiring further about the results and began to leave. What the girl's didn't realize was there were some abnormaties in their results that the man had decided not to say anything but in fact secretly had a guard watch them since the unfortunate thing was the cure was yet to be fully working as planned. And when the two girls stepped out they were followed by the man who was suppose to watch the result.
"Guess I better contact Pietro, tell him what happened." Carol said as it dawned on her he might be worried since she had been gone almost three days. Taking out her cell phone since her mind link hadn't always worked she began to look through her contacts so she could call the speedster, but barely three blocks later she stopped short as Lauriw let out a blood curtling scream that made the former neyaphem and others around them stop and look back in shock. Carol's blood went cold as she could see the blue skin returning slowly to Laurie and her hair once again beginning to fall out and slowly being replaced with the red hair that had been around the bone protrusions. "Laurie!" Carol said as she went over to help only to feel an agonizing pain rush through her body like liquid fire going through her veins as she dropped to her knees and had to crawl closer, her body beginning to go under an even more painful change back. Her ears began to gain points on them and her five fingers began to turn to three as her four fingers aside from her thumb began to seemingly melt together. And suddenly Carol couldn't help instinctively trying to send a telepathic S.O.S to anyone causing several bystanders to scream and runaway.
As this occurred the guard saw what was happening and used his own phone to contact a retrieval team which was dispatched quickly and approached the two helpless girls as they went through the painful change of their mutations.
