"The elements marshal their infinite might at my beckoning! Power seethes in the roiling clouds!"
Ororo Munroe
- Name: Ororo Munroe
- Alias: Wind Rider, White Queen, Weather Witch
- Age: 29
- Gender: Female
- Species: Mutant
- Codename: Storm
- Faction: X-men (however, known to work with other factions, on occasion)
- Play by (optional): Halle Berry
“I am a woman, a mutant, a thief, an X-Men, a lover, a wife, a queen. I am all these things. I am Storm, and for me, there are no such things as limits.”
- Personality: Storm is often viewed as an aloof and serene member of the X men team. She rarely shows her emotions and is viewed with something akin to awe. She is extremely dignified and has a strong sense of fairness and morality. It takes a while for Storm to completely trust an individual but when she does she forms strong friendship bonds and will willingly put her life on the line to ensure their continued safety. This is possibly due to losing her parents early in life and seeking to build meaningful and lasting relationships.
Even though Ororo often does not show her own emotions she is extremely empathetic and is concerned for the emotional well-being of her friends. She is seen to be a sensitive and diplomatic individual who is willing to talk through anyone’s issues and offer a shoulder to cry on.
When Storm is not focused, her emotions can get the better of her and so her control of her powers lessens. This is usually due a severe emotional trauma such as losing a close friend. Often, sorrow quickly turns to anger and thus retribution. Storm’s vengeful and furious side is something to behold and cower from. She will not hesitate to bring to bear her considerable power of nature to seek retribution for any wrongdoings to herself or her friends. It is in these circumstances that Ororo’s darker side emerges and thus her morality is drowned in a cold fury.
Storms loving side can be extremely passionate and she has been known to have severe arguments with her loved ones but equally passionate reunions. Storm holds a special place in her heart for the two loves of her life – T’Challa and Forge.
One of Ororo’s severe hatreds is the misuse of natural resources and crimes against humanity. In many ways Storm is an avatar for Mother Nature herself and is closely linked to the cycles of the Earth. Storm has been known to actively seek out and stop any misuse of the Earth. Although Storm needs to have tight control of her emotions, and is sometimes seen as unemotional and even uncaring, she has an extremely large heart and cares deeply for her friends, nature and humanity. Storm used to have severe claustrophobia and had a major catatonic breakdown after first joining the X men. This is due to her being trapped beneath mountains rubble in the building that her parents died in, the claustrophobia can still affect her on occasion.[/justify/ - Likes: Gardening, Animals, Reading, Flying, Africa

“Those who challenge me fight the very elements of Earth Herself!"
- Powers: Storm possesses the psionic ability to control all forms of weather over vast areas. She can control the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture (at a molecular level), generate lightning and other electromagnetic atmospheric phenomena, and has demonstrated excellent control over atmospheric pressure. She can incite all forms of meteorological tempests, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, blizzards, and hurricanes, as well as mist. She can dissipate such weather to form clear skies as well.
She can create precipitation at higher or lower altitudes than normal, make whirlwinds travel pointing lengthwise in any direction, channel ambient electromagnetism through her body to generate electric blasts, flash freeze objects and people, coalesce atmospheric pollutants into acid rain or toxic fog, and, along with her natural ability of flight, summon wind currents strong enough to support her weight to elevate herself to fly at high altitudes and speeds. Her control is so great that she can even manipulate the air in a person's lungs. She can also control the pressure inside the human inner ear, an ability she uses to cause intense pain.
She has demonstrated the ability to separate water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen via electrolysis, allowing her to breathe underwater as well as the ocean currents. Storm can alter her visual perceptions so as to see the universe in terms of energy patterns, detecting the flow of kinetic, thermal and electromagnetic energy behind weather phenomena and can bend this energy to her will.
Storm has shown to be sensitive to the dynamics of the natural world, and her psionic powers over weather are affected by her emotions. One consequence of this connection to nature is that she often suppresses extreme feelings to prevent her emotional state from resulting in violent weather. Storm can view the Earth as weather patterns, and is able to precisely recognize her geographic position through interpretations of these patterns. - Weaknesses: Claustrophobia: Having been trapped under rubble for three days while her mother lay dying, Storm's claustrophobia was once so severe, it rendered her completely helpless. However, she has more or less conquered her fear, though tight spaces still make her uncomfortable.
Emotional Influence: Storm's ability to manipulate the weather in her immediate vicinity is affected by her emotions; hence, if she does not maintain control, a fit of rage might induce a destructive storm. As a result, Storm has in the past kept a tight rein on all extreme emotions.
Physical Condition: Storm is limited by the force of her will and the strength of her body. It once took her several hours to put an end to a savage blizzard sweeping over much of Canada, and she nearly killed herself from exhaustion in the process. - Skills: Expert Thief: Extraordinary ability at picking locks and pockets, escape artist; therefore, she is very stealthy and good at sneaking up on people.
Expert Combatant: She is an experienced and formidable hand-to-hand combatant, trained by Achmed El Gibar and the Black Panther in her youth, and later extensively trained by Wolverine. She is also an excellent marksman with handguns, highly skilled with wielding knives, experienced in the use of the bo staff, and trained in swordfighting by the finest warriors in Wakanda.
Skilled Tactician: Storm has strong natural leadership skills and has lead teams of X-Men for years. She is a skilled strategist, tactician, and field commander.
Expert Gardener: Ororo is also an excellent gardener owing to her supernatural abilities and has her own botanical gardens at the Xavier Mansion.
High Influential Connections: As Queen of Wakanda, Storm has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, technological and military hardware (including Vibranium), as well as the support of the nation's wide array of scientists, adventurers, and superheroes. However, since the annulment of her marriage with T’Challa, she does not have access to all of this, though they would return should their relationship resume
Diplomatic Immunity: As the leader of a sovereign nation, Storm often visits the United States or the United Nations for political reasons. She enjoys diplomatic immunity during these trips, and her embassy is considered foreign soil. As above
Indomitable Will:[13] Ororo has an exceptionally strong will, thanks to years of practice to control the weather. She has shown the strength of will to effectively resist the world's most powerful telepaths, such as Professor X, Jean Grey, Rachel Summers, Shadow King and Emma Frost. She has also shown the strength of will and spirit to host the conscience of the abstract entity Eternity to help save his life and the universe, a feat few beings could do, as well as hide the Panther God Bast in her mind in order to defeat the Shadow King. - History:Ororo Munroe was born in New York City as the child of Kenyan tribal princess N’Dare and American photographer David Munroe. When Ororo was six months old, she and her parents moved to the Egyptian capital of Cairo. Five years later, during the Suez Crisis, a fighter jet crashed into her parents’ house, killing them. Buried under tons of rubble, Ororo survived but was orphaned and left with intense claustrophobia. After the death of her parents, Ororo wandered Cairo's back-alleys for a few weeks, until she was picked up by the benign street lord Achmed el-Gibar and becomes a prolific thief; among her victims is her future mentor Professor X. Following an inner urge, she wandered into the Serengeti as a teenager and meets T’Challa, who would become her future husband. Despite strong mutual feelings, the two part ways.
In the Serengeti, Ororo first displayed her mutant ability to control the weather. Sometime after this, she met the witch-priestess, Ainet, who took her in and became her surrogate mother. Once, when their village was going through a terrible drought, Storm commanded rain for days just to help them. By doing this, she threw off the natural order of nature, and draughts were formed over numerous villages, and hundreds of animals were killed. Sensing the damage she had done, Ainet told Storm of her kind, but ill thought out gesture, and of the damage she caused. Ainet took this opportunity to explain to Ororo how her powers worked with nature, and how she could fix the problem by properly distributing rain.
For a time, she was worshipped as a rain goddess to an African tribe before being recruited by Professor X into the X-Men and received the code name “Storm”. Since joining the X-men Storm has had innumerable adventures and also left and rejoined the team after her time as Queen of Wakanda. She returned to the team and became a Teacher at Xavier’s school for Gifted Youngsters, a role she has continued with the establishment of Jean Grey’s School for Higher Learning.
"There's more to it than simply possessing super powers. To be an X-Man means possessing a strength of will--of self identity-- that nothing can subvert. For better or worse, being an X-Man means not merely being born a mutant... but a hero."
- Your name: Shadow
- Years of experience Roleplaying: 5/6?
- Where did you find the Heroes of Tomorrow?: Revolution X
- Name of Song you choose: Storm quotes from various media
- Roleplaying Sample: Striding into the Library of the Xavier’s school for Gifted Youngsters, Ororo headed for the small group of people near the back window.
‘Kitty, Logan, Emma, Scott – get ready, Charles has detected a severe disturbance through Cerebro – he thinks it’s the Phoenix. No Kurt – not this time, we can’t risk you getting hurt again.’ Ororo pronounced calmly, patting Wagner on the shoulder to ease any insult. ‘Team, meet me in Hanger in 10 minutes, we need to move fast before the Brotherhood get there.’ Spinning on her heel, Storm marched from the room, fully confident that her team will be ready and waiting in the Hanger.
Swinging in next to Scott in the Jets cockpit, Ororo scanned the displays in front of her and went through the standard safety checks. Smiling to Scott, she nodded for him to take them up.
A little while later, they landed in a clearing in a coniferous forest on the Canadian border. Stepping lightly from the jet, Ororo motioned her team members to spread out and keep their eyes peeled. Peering around her, Storm sensed no disturbance of energy in her immediate vicinity.
Suddenly, she heard Cyclops yell out and saw a line of vivid red paint the sky as he activated his optical beam. Rising into the air, Ororo sped to where that beam originated to discover her team members beset by member of the Brotherhood. It was a trap. Wolverine and Sabretooth were tearing at each other like animals whilst Kitty was fending of Juggernaut. Frost had Quill pinned to the floor as Scott had Toad hopping from tree to tree.
Storm sensed more than heard giant gout of flame erupt from beneath and behind her. Veering to the left she spun in mid-air to see who was responsible. She should’ve known; Pyro. The little whelp laughed as he manipulated the flame to turn at the last instant and streak back towards her. Plummeting towards the ground, Storms eyes turned snowy white as she summoned the wind to divert the flames away from her. Ororo landed lightly and diverted some cooler air towards the burn on her arm – immunity to temperature does not mean immunity to flames. Focusing on Pyro, Storm sent blast after blast of gale force winds towards Pyro to keep the little fire-starter under control. Gathering the water molecules in the air around her, Storm launched them at her attacker, drenching Pyro and quenching his flames.
‘You should not have come here Saint-John, back-off, there’s no need for this to go further – you’ve lost.’ Storm said as she stood watching Pyro closely.
‘No, Storm, you shouldn’t have come.’ He smiled as he gestured towards the last remaining spark of the dying flames – he opened his arms wide and a wall of flame sped towards Storms comrades. Not sparing Pyro a glance, storm lifted into the air and raced the flames, passing them she spun and opened her own arms wide and summoned a torrential down pour to extinguish the flames.
Turning to check on her comrades, Storm saw Sabretooth heading for the trees, bleeding badly. Scott caught Toad mid-leap and blasted him through the air to land unconscious at the foot of a tree, whilst Emma was helping Logan haul Quill towards the Jet and Kitty stepped out of an unconscious Juggernaut, brushing her hands together with a smile of her face. Glancing around there was no sign of Pyro.
‘Is anyone hurt? It seems the Brotherhood just sought to test themselves against us. Keep your eyes peeled; there may be more of them.’ Walking back to the Jet cradling her burnt arm – Ororo and her friends discussed reasons for the Brotherhoods actions.
