"18 years later and still living like a bunch of hermits, huh?"
It was 3am on a Wednesday night when an exceptionally tall youth approached the towering gates leading to one of the most mysterious estates in New York City. The male strolled around close by while giving the entrance a once-over, observing with his keen crimson colour orbs the dense amount of foliage which kept a certain mansion hidden from the streets. Well this was a good sign. The scenery seems familiar enough to the youngster if one takes into account the passage of almost 2 decades.
'If the gate creaks, then I'm in the right universe.'
The unknown boy moved towards the door bell, but stayed his hand at the last second. With his slender index finger hovering over the button, he froze momentarily. This must be the kind of nervousness a kid must feel when trying to return home after running away in an ill thought out attempt to join the circus... Except he might as well have actually joined a circus or something; factoring the types of comrades he joined forces with in the Exiles, they could have been a world class act and it would have paid better too. Hell if nothing else the workplace injury would have been lower.
"What the hell is wrong with me. That's a horrible way to form a conclusion."
No. The mysterious albino withdrew his hand. He had changed his mind. Taking into account how late into the night it is, he will surely be greeted by a faculty member. Those of which can be divided into three different categories: those he is fond of, newer instructors he might not have learned to dislike yet or that annoying one he really really hates... Any of those options might have won the night duty lottery at any given time and after four years of being sent on suicide missions, the muscular giant of a boy really doesn't feel like playing Russian Roulette with the bullet called Cyclops right now.
'Oh come on Rasputin... Seriously? Get your shit together. I been bounced out of night clubs harder to get into than this.'
Glancing upwards once allows him to spot a matrix of security cameras and a few infra-red sensors, the loiterer lingering before the X-Mansion then double checks his observations within his mind. He had made his decision in the meantime, but could not resist the temptation to dedicate a smart chide at the mutant whom had been security officer of this estate during the year of 2019. This is going to cause a scene one way or another so...
"Might as well make them hurry a little."
Taking extra precautions to appear as intoxicated as possible in front of the surveillance footage, the young man dressed in ruffian motorcyclist attire scales the fence. After hazardously taking the extra effort to make sure he trips half a dozen motion detectors while vaulting over the top, he then stumbles into the forest that springs from inside the compound under the cover of darkness.

3 am was an awful early time for anyone to be up, especially any students when they had classes in the morning. This was such a case of Laurie Tromette who was working on a Science research project involving Biomes which her's happened to be on Arctic ones. It was only suppose to be a maximum 3 pages long but being who she was Laurie pushed it to 4 pages and three-quarters long of an essay and probably was pushing it. Quite frankly though she didn't quite care, she preferred to overdo it and succeed then risking low grades.
Not to mention she was wide awake and had some trouble sleeping at the moment. Finally though she typed the last words of her paper and saved it,"Done! Now to finally try and..."Her sentence cut off as some alarms went off in the mansion making Laurie throw up her arms in exasperation. "Oh sure every time when you need to eat, study, or sleep this happens!"She complained out loud to no one in particular and grabbed her flash drive, slipping it into her hoodie pocket before standing. With a low grumble she removed the hoodie and running shorts she had plus her sandals, knowing using her powers required the loss of the clothing to allow her to move.
Hurrying to her window Laurie pushed it up before flying out, not worrying in falling since it was never a problem for her. But instead of dwaddling this time she used her speed to get towards the area where the alarms were set off, beginning to scan the ground with her gaze for signs of movement. Though it was difficult when so many foliage was in the way.
Guess a verbal warning would have to do. "Who's ever there come out now or you face a much more painful warning!"Laurie called out as she came to a stop, hovering in the sky. Despite the fact that she wasn't the best fighter she knew letting an intruder by her wouldn't be good at all.
Though she just hoped she wasn't getting in over her head going about this herself.

"Heh"
A simple chuckle. A single verbal expression of amusement rung out from within the forest and resonated into the night was Laurie's only reply. However searching for a single voice within such a dense forest would be like finding a needle in a haystack and aids the Reserve X-Men member little. They reacted faster than he had expected but as predicted a X-Men member he has never encountered before is here to extend their greetings. This was precisely why the youthful biker chose to sneak into the confines of the Mansion's property limits instead of ringing the call button; if he had done the latter he might have been greeted by an elder staff member, but in the former case a younger X-Men would be dispatch to meet this 'drunken hobo'.
'That's not how you negotiate toots... Especially not with a so called drunk.'
For a moment all was quiet. A peaceful silence as even the creatures of the night stood still from the tension. Not a single thing dared move that is until... BLAM!! The anxious tranquility ruptures like shattered china. Without warning a shot went off at deafening decibels, instantaneously to be followed up by a 20mm anti-material round that came barreling down towards Transonic's direction at 850 meters per second. He could tell that the female was fast, but not knowing for sure if his opponent has the skills to avoid being fired upon by an RT-20 Sniper Rifle, the mysterious male had aimed to miss just barely. The boy has no intention of defeating or even hurting the blue scaled mutant but despite that he still has his pride. He can't help it. Her passionate invitation must be echoed by equal enthusiasm. His barely audible voice traveling through the air with a low bass tone, the intruder whispered back to Laurie in delight.
"Show me your moves~"

The chuckle made Laurie's crystal, scale like skin crawl when she heard it, making her tense up all the more. Quite honestly it made her all the more second guess her decision to come out here without backup when this person, human or not, could possibly over power her easily. For all the young woman knew he could out match her in a fight. That was a main weakness when it came to fighting: Laurie knew very little of close combat and was still learning.
Now a few minutes later everything had become eerily silent, not even the animals were making a sound. What could this person be doing? Had she just bitten off more then she could chew? Or were they waiting for her to attack first? These question ran through her mind as much as plans for possible different scenarios that flooded her mind while this remained a tense moment for her. Again another minute went by, feeling like an eternity to her until at last she heard a familiar, unmistakable sound of a gun being fired off.
By reflex Laurie suddenly flew down lower, the shot just barely missing her head as she moved lower. Okay so this guy probably was a bit more then she bargained for, if he had guns she would likely not stand a chance in the air. She was basically an open target to say the least. But once again that voice rang out but she could not pinpoint where exactly it came from, especially when the trees only made it echo when they were so closely grown together.
"Why not come out and show me your's, quit hiding like a coward."Laurie said stubbornly, not yet about to let this deter her from stopping this man.

'Bingo.'
He smirked when the inexperienced X-Men decided to drop her altitude and descends to the foliage below where he awaits. The creeping sensation felt by Laurie would be spot on as his well-formed lips twitches further upwards in a deadly grin with her approach. Fang-like canines flashed in the moonlight; the look in the unknown intruder's eyes and his smile belongs unmistakably to a carnivore that had cornered his prey.
"Welcome to Cavalry Crushing 101. I'll be your host today and I hope you have a good time~"
As Transonic waded and called out into the shadow cast by the numerous surrounding vegetation, she would find that not only was she correct about the echo becoming much worse but the sound reverberation is joined by something distinctly different. With every word and every sentence, the source of that same distinctly husky voice came seemingly from all directions around her. It would soon be eerily obvious to the young genius what the lightweight and mobile 'cavalry' is an allusion to Transonic herself.
"So fighting against speedsters can be a terrifying experience but it's actually not difficult at all. What do I mean by that? Well it's frightening if they can lunge against you in an open space."
A glint of metal shone momentary in the corner of her eyes before revealing itself as a throwing knife slicing through the air which narrowly skims her landing spot. A gunshot from a pistol that gazes the grass where she stands coming from the opposite direction as the knife and then finally a blast from a shotgun that severs a tree branch from overhead which threatens to fall on the rookie adventurer. A simultaneous onslaught of assault rains upon Laurie from all sides, giving the girl very little time to think.
"But in a thick forest like this and without adequate support then it's not scary at all. They can gallop at a good speed all right but their movements are severely hindered by the trees."
A second discharge from the Anti-Material Sniper Rifle gutted a hole clean through the truck of a pine right next to the lean female. Wood chippings and sawdust littered the air as the medium sized evergreen tumbled over right into the nervous girl's path. From the fallen canopy of the plant, moonlight shone down upon her location unrestrained. The area lit by silvery rays revealed what was previously hidden by the darkness: a complex array of razor sharp piano wires constricting every dirt pathway that was previously thought to be available to Laurie.
"So it doesn't take much to make them stop in their tracks. Entering a forest without good numbers and backup is suicide."
A presence appears to the rear of Transonic without warning, the muted nature of his approach seems to suggest and give off an impression that he had not traveled there on foot. It was as if he had appeared out of thin air. The redhead would feel the cold steely sensation of a large caliber firearm muzzle millimeters from pressing up against the back of her neck. By entering into his playing field, she had fallen into his trap from the beginning. The trigger is pulled and the hammer drops...
"This concludes tonight's class. Hope you enjoyed it."
However all that results is an empty click: the tale-tell sign of an unloaded firearm. From behind her, the barrel is retracted and her armed assailant could be heard backing away from the crystal-scaled mutant to give her some space. The piano wires extending far into the darkened forest as her eyes could see were gone all of a sudden. At this point if she chooses to turn around Laurie would find a tall and muscular teenager around her own age with shocking white hair and crimson eyes who is, curiously unarmed. Hands raised in surrender, he smirks playfully at the Reservist X-Men before speaking to her for the first time in person.
"Okay you got me beautiful."

Unfortunately Laurie wasn't too amused my Ajax's thoughts of this being a 'lesson' as he called it, it felt more like a time in the danger room. Soon as she had landed the next thing she knew she was having to dodge shots, knives, among other little tricks he had stirred up and making it very difficult to think compared to having to react. Once again she was just tempted to tempt fate of being a flying target in the sky.
When it came to the ground not only did her speed prove futile in enclosed places but it left her with little to go on in seeing her opponent faster then she would from the air. Not to mention the fact it left her exposed when she was alone, and that was without thinking about what she had to do with dealing with her mutation. But what made her more afraid then she would truly show was the fact there seemed to be more then one person but yet there was only one voice that echoed or seemed in multiple locations. How was he doing this? Was this man a teleporter of some kind? Or some other power? Whatever the case it was serving him well.
But as Laurie was backing up to avoid the tree that nearly fell on her she froze, feeling the cold sensation of metal against her neck, a sweat drop going down her face as she knew now there was no way to run. Mach 6 or not it was all over. So she thought. With the click she expected to be dead, lying on the ground where she would be found by her classmates and staff to find with one less member. But with her eyes squeezed shut she felt nothing, no pain, no blood, she was alive.
Opening her eyes Laurie looked back to see this very tall, unusual looking man was actually a teen, maybe somewhere close to her age. But instead of curiosity and fear this was replaced by utter fury and within seconds she covered the short distance to punch Ajax in the jaw with all the force she got from the speed. "Do you really think that's funny?!! Do you have any idea what would have happened if there were others!!! I swear the nerve!!"She said in pure angry annoyance.

She's a fast one, just like he had noted earlier but Transonic's speed was beyond even his earlier expectations. The leather-clad boy didn't bother dodging. It was pointless to try. Having concluded that it was an exercise of futility from the moment the inexperienced X-Men began charging at him, the youthful trespasser opts to do something that might contradict everything Laurie has ever learned at the X-Mansion...
In a display of unbelievable resolve and courage, her opponent leaned into her attack without a shed of hesitation! He dropped his hips and lowered his center of gravity, even digging his heels into the soil below in order to absorb the full blunt of her punch. With his neck craned into her fist the titan of a male flexed his Herculean muscles, causing them to harden as if turning into steel.
"Feeling better babe?"
His last second adjustments threw Laurie's aim off by a few inches, her knuckles smashing into the young man's forehead at prodigious speeds. By some miracle, the intruder somehow manages to remain on his feet. However that fact only exuberant the damage dealt to his skull to such a degree that Transonic could feel a backlash of residual impact traveling back up her arm. He did that on purpose, might be the conclusion that the blue-scaled mutant comes to. After all if he had the time to unflinchingly move his head into the path of her attack, then it would be obvious to assume that the youthful teen should have been able to throw up the most meager defense, or at least roll with the punch.
A steady moment later, the tall albino stood to his full height, apparently oblivious not only to the horrid gash left on the center of his forehead or the steady stream of blood running down his face. At 5'9 and standing well above the nominal stature of the average woman, this might be a situation unfamiliar to the redhead as the enigmatic biker literally towered over her with an overwhelming 9 inches in their height difference. Wordlessly he locks his crimson eyes unwaveringly onto hers.
"I've only got two questions... Number 1. Is this Charles Xavier's School for the Gifted?"
He had waited until she decided to speak up only to interrupt her, using a forcefully thunderous baritone to drown out that of Laurie's own voice. There was something deeply different this time. The enigmatic man's expression was deadpanned and speaking in a serious tone for the first time during their belief acquaintance. Strangely enough the gunslinger chose to address the academy by its archaic name, one that has not been used in the many years since Professor Xavier left the school to his star pupil. The urgency in his tone, imploring Transonic to respond made the importance of his inquiry grave... That is until the mood is ruined by his second query.
"And two: are you single gorgeous?"

There were a great many things Laurie expected to go much differently then what had just happened then. Instead of really trying to dodge the attack somehow, which would have been close to impossible at the speed she was going, or taking the punch to the jaw like she had aimed for he did something much more different. He practically braced himself to take the force of the blow while shifting to where she hit his forehead instead. That had been a smart move on his part, but the only thing the blue crystal-scale skin woman could feel was the backlash of the force going back up her arm which caused her to reflexively grab it until it stopped.
Still Ajax was left unfazed by this whole thing. Then again when she was able to get a better look at this teen she could see there was something very much different from the man then any others she had met before. Right off the bat Laurie recognized his albinism, though it was another form of it that was obvious from his eye and hair color but his unusually strong muscles was still a mystery to her. It just was quite odd that was for sure.
Though Laurie met his gaze unflinching, wondering what would be the next thing he would say as she didn't bother answering his first question. It was clear she was annoyed enough as it was. But when he suddenly became serious her annoyance faded to mild curiosity and wonder until he asked about the school. So maybe he was looking to come here or was once here? "Actually it..."She had barely gotten two words out before his voice rang out her's which caused her annoyance to return and about to scold him for giving her a second before that last question just left her staring at him, slightly baffled at what that had to do with anything. Was this guy for real?
Shaking her head Laurie spoke once more,"Okay first, yes this is the school but it's now called Jean Grey School for Gifted and two yes I'm single."She said, crossing her arms with an annoyed stern look. "But I for one don't see how me being single has to do with any of this nor will asking me out exactly work in your favor, because it won't be happening."

"Is old man Logan around then? Or Remy would do."
Good. This was certainly good news. As things stand right now, he is on the right track. The youthful male gives a slight nod to no one in particular. He didn't bothering to hide his approval of the crystal-skinned mutant's answer. The fact that the giant of a boy before Laurie appears to have detailed information on the School along with its faculty seems to confirm the young genius' latter assumption. His knowledge of the X-Mansion's usual residents even extends to the dept where he is privy to information on the Canadian and Cajun senior staff members who are also the two X-Men most likely to be awake at this late hour regardless of night duties.
"Just letting you know that I like what I see honeybun. I am quite weak to women who are comfortable and bold with their bodies."
With a wink and the corner of his lips twitching up teasingly, the trespassing biker smirked at Transonic. His eyes glanced over her sleek form in the meanwhile, very obviously checking Laurie out. His sly suggestiveness leaving nothing to the imagination as to what he was implying: the flirtatious teen knows she's not wearing any clothes despite her blue-scaled-armouring. His crimson eyes traveled slowly back up the redhead's slender frame before locking eyes with the young X-Men again. Allowing the tension build for a moment, the intruder breaks off and turns away, confidently leaving his back exposed to Transonic. Motioning for Laurie to follow, his long legs then took him at an leisurely pace towards the outer perimeters of the property.
"Whatever, I'll just sleep under a bridge tonight. Be back tomorrow. You should probably escort me off X-Mansion premise now, toots. After all it's late and you've got classes in the morning."

"Logan comes and goes and Remy is somewhere."Laurie answered, beginning to suspect this tall teen had in fact been there at some point in his life. Though she wasn't aware that he had been missing for over fourteen years and really should have been a lot older then he looked now. Though with his knowledge on knowing those two of the veteran X-men who else could he possibly know about? Maybe all of them? None the less Laurie would make note to mention this to the staff members, especially Professor Xavier who would possibly know who this person was.
Upon Ajax's next words however the crystal-skinned woman couldn't help becoming red in the face, a much darker color then her hair. By reflex she crossed her arms in front of her bosom, something she always did when someone made a remark about it,"What makes you think I would be comfortable having to go around practically naked? Unfortunately I really don't have a choice when it comes to my mutation, especially when idiots climb over the fence just to start the alarms."She said with a low growl, showing her disapproval and annoyance with Ajax looking over her form. Unfortunately it really wasn't much of a choice when it came to emergencies or what they thought were ones.
Following Ajax and watching him very closely, Laurie could only keep a good distance while keeping at her own pace and making sure he left. "You couldn't have done that before hand? I'm not the only one who has to get up early for classes you dimwit."She said coldly, openly showing that she held no patience or interest in the young man as of right now, mostly because he was already pressing the right button that got under her skin to the point she now just found him a nuisance.

"And risk having to talk to Scott at the gates? Fuck that noise. I'd rather hang myself."
The young man continued walking, refraining from glancing back when answering the redhead. Despite lack of eye-contact, the biker remained engaged in the conversation and his witty demeanor faded not one bit. He snorted while referring to the most senior faculty member and also Leader of the X-Men name, obviously put off at the thought of having to even speak to the mutant they call Cyclops. The boy's knowledge of Summer's first name increased the list of the two other instructors mentioned previously by yet another count.
"Besides unless the intruder is on their shit list, this place doesn't head into defcon-1 until they get into range of the secondary defenses. That's when everyone gets woken up by the bells and whistles. Before that, Reserve Members like you are sent out to deal with it and rack up experience so to speak."
However if being able to name three of the most prominent X-Men did not cement in Laurie's mind that this white-haired youth had indeed once lived in the X-Mansion at one point in the past, the next words that rolled off his tongue in his usual baritone should seal the argument. It was obvious that the mysterious youth knows the standard procedures around here and exploited them precisely to suit his needs; which in this case was meant to keep him from having to interact with a certain residents of the school that he is less than fond of.
"Students who make it on the roster before they are even old enough to drink in America are rare. Maybe one or two every decade tops. It's really a thing for geniuses only. I was honestly surprised to see that this kitten's so young... and pretty."
It was an educated guess... Without a doubt, Transonic was talented: smart, sharp and blessed with seemingly good instincts but she was also inexperienced. Compared to the powerfully built titan of a male before her whom had toiled in the trenches daily and stared death in the face more times than he had looked in a mirror, she was but a fledgling. Before they knew it, thanks to the fact that the duo are both exceptionally tall for their gender, the teenagers have reached the fence signifying the outer boundaries of Xavier's School. The leather-clad intruder turned to meet Laurie with his crimson orbs once, finally introducing himself before he takes his leave.
"The name is Ajax G. Xylander, in case you need it for your report/debriefing later. What's yours gorgeous or is the head wound the only thing you'll leave me to remember you by?"

"It seems not everyone takes to wanting to talk to Scott Summers, but eventually if you plan on returning your just going to have to deal with him."Laurie replied back, noting of how Ajax spoke to the most veteran of the X-men and in fact the very first X-man since Xavier started the school. And as Ajax had suspected it certainly convinced Laurie enough that he knew quite a bit about the school and staff already. At one point he had been with this school but the only way to discover how would be to discuss this with the staff and Xavier. That's if they even knew or remembered Ajax in the first place.
Though the young woman shook her head when he remarked that they only sent out reserve members to gain experience, but this wasn't the case for Laurie. "I'll have you know I came out here before any of them had even said a word, being as I'm hell of a lot faster then anyone at this school there shouldn't be any doubt that I'd be here first. You saw that yourself or do you need yet another demonstration because this time I won't miss my next target."She said, her voice remaining cold towards the titan of a teen. Oh no, Laurie was far from really ever showing any sort of warm, welcoming feelings towards someone who openly attacked her when they didn't have to and already pressed the right buttons to make her annoyed.
Though his next words made her simply look away shortly before they got to the gates,"I just got lucky."She muttered, not willing to quite admit that she really would have preferred not to be an X-men at all. Then again what else could she do if no one that was a normal human would take her in any job she tried to get? It was painfully obvious how some reacted to her when she went out and often times it made her hate being a mutant all the time, not being able to go out without being shunned or gawked at, not being able to enjoy life like she once did. As of at the moment the only thing she could to was shift the scale-like plating in certain unmentionable places. Besides that she had no control of her mutant.
Once more turning her silver hued gaze towards Ajax she reluctantly nodded,"Can't really say it's nice to meet you Ajax, but none the less me name is Laurie Tromette, or call me Transonic for my code name."She introduced, this time forcing herself to be curt with him despite the dislike she already had for the much taller male.

"Yes yes. I got it toots. I love fast women anyways... Especially in bed."
The crimson-eyed intruder once again brushed off Laurie's fiery and serious train of thought with his frivolous and teasing banter. A trend was developing where everytime the redheaded genius finds some sort of foothold in their exchange to direct her annoyance at Ajax; the exceptionally tall mutant would just deflect it with even more risque innuendo meant to be awkward and/or embarrassing to Transonic. He was full of surprises and unerringly good at maintaining his frame in a conversation while simultaneously disrupting any sort of pace in others' train of thought. It was as if the dialogue were a mirror to their previous mock battle. Fast and intelligent as Laurie was, the enigmatic gunslinger always maintained a firm hold on the reigns and kept her running around in circles.
"You know... Very few of us actually like this shit. I'd be quarterbacking in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys right now if not for this little gem here."
There he goes again. One second he was dropping irrelevant comments that would land him a sexual harassment lawsuit almost anywhere in the United States and the next moment he would speak of deeply profound political issues... When they drew ever closer to the gates that separates the mansion from the streets of New York and served as if a painful boundary between the real world where normal people could carry on with their daily lives and theirs which was wreathed with danger and uncertainty, Ajax raised his right hand with a single index finger pointed upwards. Although the blue-scaled speedster would not be able to discern the method in which he achieves it, the white-haired teen distorts space on top of the long slender digit of Laurie's left ring finger, closest to her knuckles. The dimensional flux formed an intangible gem when light from the streetlamps finally peeking through the edge of the woodland strikes the refraction paradox. The boy looked upon the non-existent diamond with but a hint of melancholy when speaking of an athletic career he had left behind.
"Laurie Tromette: the name of my future ex-wife. I like it."
With a flick of his finger, the jewel of light and implications of a wedding ring shatters and dissipates. It was an allusion to the gravity of their former discussion meeting its end by yet another repartee meant to push Transonic's buttons which despite a few short minutes of their encounter, Ajax seems to have intimate knowledge of already. One could say that getting under people's skin is a specialty of his but unbeknownst to Laurie would be why the firearms master does so. Fun and games aside, one cannot truly know a person until you strip them of the clothes men wear called civility and lay bare to their real emotional nature. Call it psychological warfare if you'd like but that was what he has learned on his vast travels and those are also the theories he will live and die by.
"Does the name En Sabah Nur mean anything to you?"
Memories of a purple-skinned teleporter, a certain Clarice Ferguson whom he had viewed as an elder sister and mentor came rushing back as he briefly reminisced on the past four years spent in the multiverse. In particular Ajax was brought back to the time spent on his former teammate's native continuity: a ravaged world where a mutant overlord reigned supreme and with an iron fist. One's whose image for a moment seems to superimposed over that of Transonic's... However the youthful mutant soon shook his head slightly as he forcefully pushed aside those unspeakable thoughts: "Naaaaw... It can't be." The similarities were undeniably there but they could just as well be a coincidence. It would be like assuming Einstein were part black because he sported a semi-Afro. He waved his large hands as if to say "forget about it, stupid question". By shortening the distance in between, Ajax leap over the fence with a single inhuman leap that seemed choppy and out of synch; it was like watching a scratch VCR tape, causing the frame rate to skip every few milliseconds. Not looking back the mysterious gunman disappeared into the night but not before throwing one more joust at the Reservist X-Men.
"Well adios Laurie. Stay out of the forests when you're alone."
