A cool night breeze swept by bringing along the scent of the New York streets. Spoiled food, car exhaust, cheap colognes, and the unmistakable scent of stale urine, and those were just the things you could smell without a superhuman sense of smell. All the same, the slight breeze felt cool against warm skin as a figure leaned against a gnarly looking stone gargoyle high atop a building. The guy seemed bored, like he was trying to keep focused on whatever it was he was supposed to be doing. His gaze was glazed over as he surveyed the garrishly lit streets of the Red light district, his attention clearly elsewhere though he was trying to keep up appearances. To the common person, they would probably identify the figure as some sort of superhero or perhaps a villain but that was because nobody in their right mind stood on top of a building unless they were either about to jump, pretending like they were gonna jump wanting attention and help, or getting ready to blast hole in a wall either robbing the place or stopping someone from something nefarious. It really wasn't that uncommon a thing these days since superpowered beings had become just a regular part of life. Unfortunately, in the mind of the blond at least, nobody knew his name or superhero handle as it were at least. Every once in a while that night someone would look up and see him and think he was about to jump and he 'd have to send a brief telepathic message saying he wasn't a jumper and float off to another spot to wait for something to occur. How did the other heroes do it? How was it that they were always in the perfect place at the perfect time to stop a robbery or apprehend a villain before something blew up? This was downright boring. Sighing to himself, the guy took a step off the edge of the building and floated down a few stories and weaved through the buildings looking down alleyways for trouble before alighting onto a new roof and taking a seat, pulling out a smart phone and checking a feww apps while he waited for something good to go down.

There didn't seem much at all going on in the city tonight, least not in this part of the city where some of the most shadiest activities went on. The Red Light District was notorious for criminal activity and was often the most active place for heroes, but it seemed tonight it was just quiet and calm. It was a little surprising to a very tall winged man who was patrolling the area from above the buildings, occasionally having to soar around them when he got low. With his sharp eyes he would have been able to see several things on the ground and so far nothing out of the ordinary.
What was odd about this man however was his overall appearance of being seven feet tall with dark tan almost bronze skin and his muscular build, plus crimson hair and ten foot wings, and piercing icy blue eyes. If that wasn't enough Balis' armor that was fashioned into Olympian style surely would of his chest plate, metal wrist bands, and knee guards that were all a dark orange but polished to shine. His chest plate bore dark gold eight pointed star and the clothes he wore beneath were khaki and dark brown, along with his mask being a dark brown and generally hiding most of his face. Around his neck he wore a gold pendant with a five pointed star and a bo staff strapped to his back. For this very reason Balis kept to the skies, knowing few people would catch sight of him when he wove in and out of sight among the buildings of passing clouds and luckily the wind was a mere small cool breeze which meant little chance of turbulence.
For the most part he caught sight of very little action, not even noticing the blond that was steaking out the place. Much like Athen though he was new to this superhero business and had only just recently become an avenger due to his powers and skills. But it still left him somewhat uncertain if he could live up to their reputation and being part of the new generation of superheroes that would take the place of the veterans. But that didn't mean he wouldn't try, which was what he was doing now. Yet the night was proving futile in finding any form of crime.
With a soft sigh the shi'ar olympian hybrid decided to descend upon a nearby building for a short break, even though he still have a few good couple hours left in him to keep flying. But he decided to save the remainder of his energy just in case something did happen and made an easy land upon the roof before coming to the edge, resting a foot on the slight high rise around the roof of the rough brick wall, again waiting.

How in the world had she ended up here? Hope had arrived in New York sometime earlier in the afternoon that day but seeming as she had never been in New York before she was utterly lost. By now she had been wandering around for hours to get a feel for the city but it literally was a maze to her, well earning it's name of being the 'Concrete Jungle'.
She had stopped for lunch and already had stopped for dinner but even with that she just wasn't sure where to go. Though the young red head had become quite aware that she was in a bad part of the city, the Red Light District as she had heard it was called and not the best place someone wanted to be alone. It was obvious shady people came here and most of the stuff that went down was illegal. It really sent a chill down Hope's spine but she made sure not to show it as she kept walking down the lit streets, hearing pounding music, laughing, and chatting from the clubs she passed. Of course she was far too young to be wandering into such places and it didn't make her comfortable to take a risk of falling in with the wrong people by mistake.
Sighing slightly Hope finally had to take a break, leaning against a brick wall for a moment and trying to think of what to do from there. Though it didn't seem her break was for long as a few minutes later she heard the sound of an alarm going off, making her perk up slightly to listen for a moment and hearing it about a few blocks down. It sounded like a robbery of some sort going on and it was probably a good idea to stay away but Hope decided it might be a good chance to help do something instead of wandering about.
Pushing herself up Hope quickly sprinted down the side walk, passing some people who had stopped when hearing the alarm but stayed a distance away. But it didn't take her long to finally arrive to a rather large bank, seeing that several workers and last remaining customers on the floor and being held hostage by what appeared to be four heavily armed men, though Hope suspected there was one or two others going for the vault. "Well good a time as any, and better then getting lost."Hope muttered, quickly sneaking close to the bank and hiding away her bag but not before removing a few small firearms from her bag and slipping close towards the door.
With a deep breathe Hope quickly peeked around the corner and took careful aim with both hand guns before firing a few shots towards the men through the glass, startling them enough that they ducked. But she did notice some red blots falling the ground, a sign she had grazed a few of them if not all of them. But before long she had to take her turn to duck as they fired a few rounds back, both sides being loud enough to catch anyone's attention.

Tony had been somewhere else mostly, busy working away at an unusual place that you wouldn't normally find him. Since he had run out of a place to put some of his things, some of his electricity ran under water. Through a series of several protective unites. Some how one of the unites had been damaged as Tony continued to work on them in his Iron Man uniform. It had managed to supply him with enough oxygen for several hours before he had to return to the surface again like a normal human would have too. That was until he heard Jarvis speak up again to alert him something. "Sir there seems to be trouble afoot in New York City." Jarvis said as Tony was certainly concerned for this as he heard him speak up. He had asked Jarvis to monitor the cameras that were up throughout the city and it had been a good idea to do just that.
"I'll be there soon Jarvis. I will have to pick up where I left off on the electricity later then." Tony answered as he soon let go of the area and fired up his rockets on his boots as he soon shoot out of the air. It wasn't long before he began to climb up into the air to figure out where the problem was. But it was clear to where he saw it. As he zoomed in on the Red Light District he could see that something was going on down there. Smoke was coming through some of the areas where men had fired several rounds of fire arms and could see it nearly instantly. But what were they firing at? There was someone else in the area, he wasn't so sure if he could consider them an ally or an enemy just yet, but he would help them either way.
As hee flew closer to where the armed men were he began to scan the area again before his arm charged up, the middle of his palm glowed a deep blue. And before he couldn't take much more of it he sent a round of a repulsor beam right at the men to distract them. "Heay I've got something to say to you guys." He said in a metallic like voice from his armor. "How about you pick on someone your own size."
"And when I mean someone on your own size. I mean me." He said sounding very confident as he began to charge up another repulsor ray. It seemed that age hadn't entirely caught up to Tony yet as he was getting older now as the other younger avengers were coming up to take the ranks. But it looked like he wasn't about to retire any time soon since he still had a cmpany to run. And it seemed like he wasn't about to find an inheriter just yet.

Facebook quickly proved to be less than appealing to resolve the blond's boredom so after a minute or so he tucked his phone back in an extradimensional pocket and yawned. Within seconds though, his ears cleared back to normal and looking around he saw a streak of pale blue light and a plume of smoke rising from the west. Action! Finally. That was all he needed to spur him into motion as he slid himself off the edge of his building and zipped around it wove his way between several buildings, quickly coming into range to be able to hear some automatic gunfire and the searingly hot yellow color of whizzing bullets exiting a hole in a bank. "A bank heist eh? Well won't this be ...is that Ironman?" he spoke aloud to himself as he watched the modern day knight point his palm and fire a beam of light inside the bank. Through the smoke he could also vaguely make out the outline of a red haired girl holding a pair of small caliber pistols. Black Widow maybe? Wasn't she supposed to be older than that though?Either way this was an interesting sort of challenge. Night one and there he was about to have his first ever team up and with who else but the billionaire playboy genius himself. All the teen could hope for was that he wouldn't somehow mess this up. "I speak now with the voice of the auras and beseech the breezes to heed my commands,"[/i] came the arcane words easily slipping past his lips as if he had spoken them thousands of times before and the golden clad heromoved his hands and as he did the wind picked up and swrled around only visible as the smoke began to swirl and became a tight cyclone in and of itself and with a quick jabbing motion, the oscillating cloud of detritus and smoke darted back int othe bank building, acting as a smokescreen. He had set up the perfect amount of cover for himself and quickly dove out of the sky towards the gaping hole in the bank. "I think you should listen to the guy cuz I'm pretty sure that you're outclassed here. Best just to avoid the bruises and come quietly!" the teen called through the smoke.

For twenty long minutes nothing happened. In that time Balis hadn't moved a muscle, not the slightest twitch of a wing nor a finger, nothing but his pupil-less eyes shifted around the streets and buildings below. No activity of any kind was going on besides the ordinary every day things that went about in the Red Light District, and even from there Balis could feel some music pounding away. Quite frankly the young man was beginning to lose hope of anything happening that night so he was tempted to leave.
With a spread of his wings the hybrid began to take flight but after two strong flaps the sound of an alarm going off followed by gun fire captured his attention. So there was something finally going after all. "About time."He said to himself before flying off towards the direction but feared the worse when he heard an explosion, flying faster to his full speed until he arrived the the bank and realized there were others there, Iron Man being one of them. And from the looks of things it seemed two others were there but neither of them he recognized and only got a glimpse of Athen when he flew into the gapping hole. Though the bad guys were a priority he was more concerned for the civilians inside.
"Tony we got to worry about the civilians too!"Balis called to the older man, shaking his head that they hadn't worried about them first. Diving down Balis flew into the hole next, heating his body enough that he glowed with a faint orange aura and immediately began to gather the few civilians inside and getting the three employees that were hiding in the back. "Is there a back way?"Balis asked one of them and the man nodded, indicating a side door towards the back of the offices to which Balis motioned them towards. "Hurry now, you'll be safe."He assured them as he quickly melted the locked door and kicked it open, allowing the five or so hostages escape before he turned his attention to the vault where he heard the remaining two men whispering and hiding.
Making his way to it the men froze when they saw Balis,"You two are in serious trouble."He said in a warning tone though the two men laughed,"You think you can handle us flier boy? Try this!"One of them said as he began to open fire but was shocked when a few just dented the armor on Balis' chest plate and the rest stopped by him creating a solar energy shield before firing two solar bolts and knocking the men back. "They never learn."He sighed as he came over, ripping off part of the metal from the gun barrels and bending them to create makeshift cuffs and trapping the men back to back.

The arrival of Iron Man and Athen surprised Hope at first, since it seemed no heroes had actually been in the area at the time. Not that she had really paid much attention to them being there considering she had been more focused on finding her way out of the Red Light District and to some place that didn't make her uneasy. None the less though she was glad they arrived when they did but no sooner did they that a winged man flew past without much of chance to speak at all. Although she heard him say something about the hostages and guessed he was handling their safety.
Standing she quickly moved in, glad to see a smoke screen to conceal them as they men were deeply confused and startled by the arrivals. In their scramble to get up they hadn't had a chance to recover from Tony's repulsor ray nor being able to grab for their missing guns they had dropped and slid somewhere. "Now why should we listen to a couple super powered weirdos like the lot of you!"One of the men snapped at Athen who soon yelped as a shot came close to his foot and causing him to jump back into one of his companions. "Because they said so! You four scum bags have no right to be doing any of this!"Hope finally called out in a brave tone.
She may not have been a 'hero' but even the red head wouldn't let something like this go unpunished and having innocent people hurt just for an act of violence. Reaching out with her powers Hope attempted to see if Athen or Balis were at all mutants, especially since it was common knowledge Iron Man was only a human being. To her delight she sensed Athen was in fact a mutant like her and tapped into his abilities though not hindering him and created two duplicates of herself,"Oh this will come in handy."She said with a grin, moving herself and having her copies search the smoke screen until they found the four automatic weapons and quickly kicked them out of reach.
"They're guns are out of reach!"Hope then announced, confident that these men would be of little threat now. Unfortunately the men still had smaller hand guns and knives on their person but being as uneasy and scared as they were they were proving to be less then a challenge, almost cowardly being the better word and their threats being quite empty.

Post by Anthony "Tony" Stark on Jan 16, 2013 22:36:36 GMT -5
Tony techinically was a mere human that just had armor to enhance his abilities. Without the armor, Tony was just well that, Tony Stark. No one would have known him as the golden Avenger, or even a hero at that point. Even for awhile he had hidden his identidy claiming that someone else had been in his gold and red armor. Which had been true for awhile, his old friend Rhodes who had been experienced with the Iron Man suits, was one of the few who got a taste of the armor first hand with War Machine. He had let him into it to keep his secret safe, at least for awhile. It didn't last long as he hoped. Well now that the information was out everyone knew who he was, that's right, Tony Stark was Iron Man.
Tony had seen Balis fly past as he aknolwedged the younger mutant as he flew through with a soft nod. It looked like Balis had it covered. But for now he was more concerned for Hope, she was out numbered, and he didn't know how great her powers were. But they weren't alone. Athen too was there, and there was something about him that made him be reminded of Thor. The Asgardian god had his way of talking and sometimes it was just strange, but when he had a heart and a will to fight, he was highly impressed with him in that. The last thing he wanted to do, he noted was get into another fight with Thor or succumb to his molinjr.
Whoever this person was and the way he spoke, Tony realized that he may have potential as an Avenger that is if everyone else said yes. Or a majority of them did he could certainly be Avenger material, but for now that was something of future decisions, and asking him in person, as Tony Stark and not Iron Man. However the smoke had quickly enveloped Tony into the mess as his vision in his suit was starting to weaken, but he could counter that easily, "Jarvis activate thermal vision! And my Energy Blade along with it." Tony called out to the computer that had made itself very useful over the years.
It wasn't long before the vision changed into a heat seeking radar on his vision area on his suit. So now he could at least see the bodies nearby as he didn't panic just yet. However he saw two bodies nearby as he realized what was going on. As he activated his long energy blade that looked like a sword, Tony flew over to the one that had been attempting to strike a knife at one of the escapers that Balis had lead out, and he blocked the knife with his own sword. "And I'll make it clearly you're messing with me now. Leave these citizens alone." Tony said as he quickly let go of the man as he was about to swing again at Tony, but he quickly blocked it again.
"Sure they have their guns down, but I'm sure they have all kinds of other knick nacs in store for us. For example the knives, the mini-guns and the like." Tony said sounding a tiny bit sarcastic as he could be at times, but he also had a serious side. "By the way that reminds me." Tony said as he had his own hidden weapons in hand as he brought out his hand again as it began to charge a deep blue again as he sent a blast of repulsor ray towards the man and nearly knocking him off his feet. But what he had hope to accomplish was knocking the knife out of his hand and he had done exactly that.

Sighing to himself once more, the golden clad hero took a few blind steps through the smoke, listening for the panicked breathing of the assailants, ignoring the flash of Iron Man's repulsors as one man was clearly being dealt with. Athen was well aware that the armored hero could still see perfectly fine through the haze.
He could even feel the mild divine power wafting off of Sol as he made his attempt to free the hostages near the other side of the building. Then he heard the light step of the Red haired girl shuffling through the building as she retorted at the criminals who, as per usual, were refusing to take the sound advice to just give up.
"Freaks? Not only is that just plain rude, it's bigoted and idiotic. But to answer your poorly phrased question Mr. Criminal, you should listen because we all know what's going to happen to you if you don't. not to mention, it's sort of tough for you to bully us. We brought bigger sticks after all," he replied, spreading his hands apart forcing the smoke that surrounded them all to press itself agaisnt the walls of the building revealing the situation around them once again.
The bad guys could now see they had six heros bearing down on them, their hostages having been freed and the majority of the gun toting robbers had been tied up and what was more that they'd been basically disarmed.
The blond allowed a wily smirk to cross his face as he stared at who he presumed to be the leader.
"So, what say you rethink that giving up thing before somebody gets hurt?"
Unfortunately the guy wasn't exactly copacetic to laying down on the ground and waiting for his day in court, as he pulled a gun from behind him and aimed it at the Olympian and without a word opened fire. Without batting an eye however, Athen stood his ground as the dull thud of bullet after bullet pelted him about the torso and one stray lucky shot flattened itself against his forehead.
"Dude. C'mon. That was just stupid. Fall down," Athen commanded as he unleashed a crippling pulse of telepathic energy into the man's brain causing the guy's eyes to roll up in his head before he shuddered and crumpled to the ground in a heap.
Reaching up, the teenager pulled the bullet off of his face and let it simply fall to the ground and turned his gaze onto the remaining would be thieves.
'Well what say you guys?"

There seemed little else for the four heroes to do when the men were so greatly outmatched and now it seemed outnumbered, as the red headed girl had made use of some kind of duplication power. Balis though was quite confident this was already in their favor where generally most of the group had shown signs of being cowardly then showing brave bravado, unlike they had a few minutes before. Then again what room was there to so such brave stupidity?
Coming to the now somewhat clear room, Balis looking upon the men as they raised their hands as a sign of giving up, having seen their leader crumple to the floor. Yet nothing had touched the man which made the demi-god wonder if it was by some mind attack or nerve affecting one. "All of you put your hands down and don't bother trying to make the wrong move, trust me when I tell you you will highly regret it."He said in a calm tone but there was an obvious underlying threat to his words as an orb of solar energy appeared before it extended into a rope of sorts and tying it around the men until the police would get there. Though it wouldn't be much longer as he already heard the sirens drawing closer just outside the building.
Turning his attention to the others he finally could get a better look at the two unknown people who were on the scene, having never seen them before. He did think they were excellent with the situation and being able to help and greatly wondered what Tony would make of all this. Could they become Avengers too? Or would they be potential allies? Either way Balis highly wondered if they could become part of the newer generation of Avengers that was becoming plainly obvious over the last years.

"Extra knick knacs or not I highly doubt they're much of a threat now, considering they are now too outmatched and out gunned."Hope replied back to Tony, showing quite a cocky, confident attitude about her having noted of his sarcasm. But she ignored much of it as stuck to her guns, metaphorically speaking, that things had taken a turn into their favor with little effort save for pure idiocy of the gunmen trying to bring them down somehow. That was evident when the leader took the chance to fire upon Athen with little success in bringing him down, which was kind of a surprise to Hope.
None the less she was glad he was not fazed by the attempt and that Balis and Tony too were able to handle any others who had attempted to attack them or take the vault while the heroes were distracted. Not that it did much to deter them in helping civilians and taking them down for good. Things had gone well no matter how one looked at it.
Now with the men incapacitated and tied up Hope focused on the borrow she had borrowed to allow her duplicates to begin gathering the weapons into one spot and out of reach from the men. With a quick twist of her own weapons the red headed mutant put them back in the holsters before walking over to begin taking away any visible weapons off the men and into the pile of their automatic weapons so they didn't have much of a fighting chance. Her duplicates did the same with the ones Tony and Balis took out before they returned to the original Hope and she was satisfied there was no other chances for them to fight back. "Now they're truly unarmed, wouldn't you say Iron Man?"Hope asked with a little of her smart attitude, but there was some seriousness to it as to prove she wasn't above making sure these men had no true chances of getting away.
Not to her surprise however the police finally arrived, if not somewhat late to responding to the robbery that would have taken place if not for the two Avengers present plus her and Athen. When the officers arrived they seemed quite surprised at the situation but none the less they went to work in getting the men cuffed and out from the building. "You guys got to admit, this could have been a lot worse."

As Tony had finished off the one armored man that he had fought with his own repulsor rays, he could hear Athen speaking up again. If anything, he didn't know right away, he would have assumed that poetic like voice would have been Thor's. It was real convincing anyways. He did know other asgardians, but Thor was different then them all. Maybe because he knew him the best for being a part of the Avengers? That was probably the case. Once the man fell after being hacked, slashed and repulsored, he put away his energy sword as it disappeared back into his forehand above his knuckles.
Tony sound certainly relieved at this point as he lifted his mask to reveal his face after seeing that it would not be needed at this point, but he remained hovered in place as he watched the policemen as they arrived to take the men away. Once they were gone, the city would hopefully be a bit better place, at least for a little while. "Yes you are correct this time. That's true it could have been worse. They were only carrying guns and minor weapons on them. Once we took those away from them they were pretty much powerless." Tony said to Hope after he had been observing his part of the fight and as well as he had entered his portion of it.
"But I will have to admit, I was impressed with you three. It's not every day a group of rogues or even loners gather together to fight for one common goal. Let alone the power variety is so vastly different." Tony said knowing he did not have any power of his own actually as a mutant like figure. But his Ironman armor did the trick as he managed to hold them off for awhile, let alone he didn't have to worry about charging his suit as long as it didn't last for hours, which he hoped to avoid. "It's just like the Avengers..." He trailed off at the last part realizing how true it was.
