"Oh." Francis said a bit surprised, they had something in common. They both had fathers that had taught them when they were still growing up. Of course, Hope had the time traveling ability, and he did not. There was only one thing that he realized that kept him at a semi advantage in this fight if Hope were to use it, she could not mimic a power, for the most reason he did not have one. If he saw the chance, he could use one of the arrows to surprise her. As he had all kinds fit for certain situations, such as freezing the enemy, explotions, stunning an enemy, and so on. "We sort of have a similar past, but if you don't count the time traveling part." Francis said. Never entirely sure if he'd get to experience such a feat himself. It sounded odd...what he wondered...would he look like ten years from now? Probably older, maybe a spitting image of his father. But that was something that could wait later no doubt, the world was full of secrets and he didn't want to open any that shouldn't have. "Alright." He added as he took his long bow out to show that he was ready, and with his hands he divided the bow into three parts, one in the middle, and then the sides. The middle obviously was the part where the arrows would have gone. But he had not brought many this time with him. "And do you want to go first or the other way around?" He asked. Though he had to admit it, he had never met Jean Grey before, so he would have never noticed the similarities. Maybe one of the older Avengers would have if they knew the X-Men so well, but the younger ones probably weren't that familiar.

"Seems that way, but unfortunately time traveling has become something of the past now."Hope explained to him, knowing it had been a whole year since that day she had returned to the mainstream present. But she knew better then to risk letting something slip of what she knew from several other universes and times, knowing it could likely ruin one of them. Unfortunately she had to keep many of her adventures a secret or of what went on in certain ones. For all Hope knew she might have run into a older version of Francis and never knew it. Then again she never paid much attention except running for her life or fighting to stay alive like her adoptive father had done.
Though Hope smiled when he asked who should go first,"I'll go first Francis, after all ladies first."She said with a slight grin before twisting her body to aim for a roundhouse kick, one aimed for his head. Although the young redhead knew she shouldn't take Francis lightly as he too looked like a good fighter and as he said was well trained as well. And those arrows could probably prove to be a good weapon. So indeed she had to be on her toes and ready to counter or attack at any time, and of course defend.

"I'm sorry to hear that." The archer said sounding a bit surprised. Even in these days of their advancement in technology, someone was bound to be on the verge of finding a way to time travel. Francis to be honest didn't really seem very fond of it, of course he hadn't been doing it all of his life like Hope had been. But he just found it strange, it was kind of like the thing of being in two places at once. How would the older version of himself react to what he was doing now? Or vice versa, his current self reacting to his younger version. He would have never known, Hope may have not recognized him in the future, so he wasn't about to push the subject. Of course, now it was rare to find an archer that could shoot a target that easily, and hit it each time.
"That is true." Francis said as he saw the kick starting to come his way. He whipped his bow into action as he came up to dodge the attack, to move her leg out of the way just enough to avoid being hit by it. He knew it would hurt and he'd rather not have that happen. Francis then lunged his own bow froward a bit to see if he could strike Hope on the right shoulder, it was the farthest one away but it was the best one that he could hit at the angle that he was in. Francis though had to admit, Hope was good at fighting, all those years of training certainly were worth something.
"To be honest though it would be a bit unfair if I used my arrows in combat. I have been training since I was a kid. Maybe fifteen or fourteen years now? And I still haven't missed a target." Francis added.

"No worries, it kind of was nice to not have to be running for my life all the time or looking over my shoulder for danger for a year."Hope said as she brought her leg down but raised her arm so the bow would be blocked by her forearm. She too wanted to avoid serious injury and was holding back some of her power from harming Francis. And she suspected he might do the same since the last thing they wanted to do was be sore if something were to occur. Although it seemed that they may end up evenly matched from the looks of things already.
As Francis was speaking again Hope used her free hand to aim with an upper cut towards the slightly older teen's jaw,"Well either way is fine with me Francis, I'm not picky when it comes to training. Besides maybe later we could head to the training room and do some training there between my firearms and your arrows, show our marksman skills."She suggested, wondering if he might like the idea since she was a rather good shot when it came to firearms. And not to mention throwing knives since she was pretty handy with blades too.

Francis winced as he felt the punch to his jaw as he rubbed it a bit to try and ease the pain. He knew at least there might be a bruise there later. But he hoped it wouldn't be as bad. He shook it off a bit as he quickly recovered a few seconds later, "Yeah that could work out. We could see how we work as a team." Francis said as he tried to think of another way to get to Hope. Remembering years back when he had the opportunity to train with Captian America a few times in a round he remembered one thing that he had told him. Look for a weakness while fighting, some could be found easily others maybe not so much. Being that Francis was only a human he did not have any of the talents that Hope had, and that gave him a slight disadvantage, he at least hoped that she wouldn't use any thing like ha against him. That wouldn't be fair.
"But it sounds like a plan to me." He added as he decided to try a round of combinations as he tried to throw in a punch with a free arm as a distraction at her stomach. With his other hand with his bow came forward as he tried to strike Hope on the righ shoulder.

Hope watched to see if Francis would recover from the hit to the jaw and as expected her really just rubbed the area and shook it off. He was pretty tough for a normal human. Although she was quite glad to hear that he’d be interested in the possible training later, “Sounds like a plan to me. Who knows maybe we’ll work pretty well together, you just never know until you try.” Hope agreed as she quickly side stepped the punch towards her stomach while taking simultaneously taking the hit to her right shoulder which also hurt a bit and rubbed her shoulder. Not bad at all but much like Francis she had been taught to search for weaknesses in an opponent, no matter if it was armed or unarmed combat.
Although, she had no intentions of using her abilities to get the advantage. Much like Francis with his arrows using her mutant powers just wouldn’t be fair at all, especially since the two mutants there would easily allow Hope to overpower him in no time. So with that in mind she planned to keep it old school and fight him like any common human should have, that way they both had a silent agreement not to use something that would give them the overall advantage. Getting back to the fight Hope decided to counteract Francis’ move with a forward snap kick that was rather hard to stop unless one had really good reflexes and aimed for his stomach.

"Yeah. It's one of the few days where I don't have to do anything. Most of the days I'm training and doing things in classes or homework. A cycle that never ends." Francis said as they were continuing to fight. Francis had come close to blocking it, but had missed it just barely. He fell forward and nearly hit the ground as Hope's kick hit him in the stomach. He put one hand on the ground to stop himself from landing face first into the roof top of the building. That was the last thing he wanted to do was get an injury that was worth sending him to the hospital part of the Avenger's Building. "That was a good one." Francis said as he rubbed his side a bit before managing to get up. He had also manage to not loose his bow just yet as he had a tight grip on it still. Most likely there would be a minor bruise there when he woke up the next day, but that was about it.
Francis stood up a few seconds later after recovering from the blow, it still hurt but he knew whining about it wouldn't help much at all. Francis took his bow into his own hand as he aimed a punch as a distraction, for Hope's shoulder, and then he came down with his bow towards the other one, not entirely sure if either one would have done some sort of injury or made contact.

"I kinda stuck to home schooling since well I decided to start traveling again, which is why I wound up here."Hope explained, knowing she never really went to school ever in her life but learned as she went or when her and her adoptive family had breaks from traveling. But she grinned broadly when seeing Francis had definitely felt that one, so she hadn't exactly lost her edge. "I'll admit it's been a while since I've really sparred with someone else so I'm kind of glad it was a good one, though I do hope I didn't hurt you too bad."She said as she watched Francis recovering.
But as he once more tried the distraction Hope this time was quick to pick up on it and instead of falling for it just moved one shoulder slightly so his fist barely missed while shifting her body to duck right under the bow. Which too had been aimed for her other shoulder. But with her momentum she rested her hand on the ground to turn swiftly and swing her leg outwards at the back of Francis' legs to try and trip the older teen.

Francis managed to dodge the attack with a quick manouver to the right. However his realization hit him when he was too late. He already felt his body move farther back and eventually fell. The ledge there didn't save him one bit as he went crashing into the water. Then there was a horrible cold that came to him as soon as he hit it. He didn't mind it really it was nearly the hot days of spring and they felt decent. Finally he decided to go to the top as he avoided the area of where the waterfall came crashing down and came up onto the surface. He could already tell that his blonde hair was a soaking mess, and he wasn't so sure where his bow had ended up as long as it didn't make it to the water. The bow was somewhat made of electrical parts and that wouldn't have been a very pleasent ending.
"Well you got me that time hope. This is really embarressing." He said as he began to climb out of the water seeing that his whole body got soaked from the inncident. From the looks of things the practicing would have to come to a hault. He did feel a bit bad about the ending though.

This was definitely not the ending either had to be expecting. Hope really had misinterpreted the distance between Francis and the fountain on the roof thus only ending up with him in cold water. Even with the decent weather it certainly seemed the water was cold. "Sorry about that Francis, I didn't think you were that close to the edge,"Hope apologized as she quickly came over and grabbed behind his arms, helping to pull the younger archer out from the water and could definitely feel it had to be a little cold for him.
Although she felt pretty bad for it that was for sure, "Looks like you'll definitely need a towel Francis, your pretty soaked and I'm sure it had to be pretty cold."She said but noticed on the edge was hi bow and picked it up before it could meet a similar fate as it's owner.

"Neither did I." Francis added. "But it's alright, I forgive you. It could happen to anyone really." Francis said as he got out of the waterfall's pool area as he stepped out with Hope's help. The water had indeed been cold, almost freezing a that point but he hadn't been in it long enough for himself to feel the affects just yet. Once he was out, he could already feel the goose bumps on his shoulders as his arms hadn't been entirely protected from the water. He shook a bit as well from the cold. He could see that his hair had been soaking wet as well as it had turned a bit darker of a shade, just like when he got out of a shower it normally changed color sometime from being so wet.
"Yeah maybe two towels will do. I'm s-sure there are s-some in the lower floors of the building." Francis said knowing that Hope had been here for a few times already. He was sure that she was familiar with it, and didn't need an explination from him. But he saw that she had returned with his bow, he hadn't known at all where he had flung it or where it ended up on the roof. He was at least relieved she found it. "Thanks for saving my bow. As soon as it slipped out of my hands I didn't know where it went." He exclaimed.

"Let's get you inside then."Hope said, resting her hand on Francis' upper back just in case the cold got to him too much and led him to the elevator letting it open before stepping inside with the archer. Luckily she had figured her way around by now and quickly pressed a button for one of the lower floors. If she had had her cloak she would have given it to her fellow young Avenger to help him warm up but it was just one of those times she hadn't thought she would need it. Especially so when she had merely come up there to think for a while and now here they were heading down.
Though she merely nodded when he thanked her,"No problem Francis, I just happen to be lucky to see it before it could have accidently fallen in the water. And if it did I doubt you'd be happy or that it would work properly for months."Hope said, smiling a bit that she could have helped him somehow but was still concerned of the coldness from the water. It would certainly get to him sooner or later so she kept checking to see the floors they were at and seemed a little impatient as it seemed slow as any. But finally they reached the second floor and Hope stepped out,"Wait here Francis I'll be right back."She promised before leaving with using Pietro's super speed and a few minutes later returned carrying two towels and putting them over Francis' shoulders.

Francis nodded as he followed in after Hope but he realized that she had gotten far faster than he had expected. It was similar to Pietro's super human speed as she dashed out of the room in a few seconds and then returned only a moment later. "That was a fast one." Francis said as he took the towel and adjusted a bit. He could already feel the warmth starting to come to his body as he held onto it. It was prety warm as he needed it from the colder water earlier. "But it already feels better with the towels, thanks. I do feel sorry about cutting the training short. I think I was doomed from the start." Francis said still feeling bad about what had happened. He took the second part of the towel as he got some of the water off of his face and so it wouldn't get into his eyes so he could see easily again.

Hope though shook her head,”It wasn’t your fault Francis it was mine for not being more careful, especially with the waterfall and fountain up there. If I had calculated that a bit more then you might have missed it or just come up short of falling into the water.”She told him, knowing full well it had been her fault that he had landed in the water and not his own. She had just made the minor miscalculation and things like that could happen, and not to mention him getting warmed up was a lot more important than sparring. “Besides you getting warmed up and out of the cold was a lot more important.”Hope added, as she mostly knew this from her first aid training.
Though she smiled about the speed,”Well can thank Pietro for being a mutant and having that power, otherwise it would have taken me a little longer to get the towels.”Luckily her power mimicry definitely helped at times like this and being able to help a teammate certainly was always good. Though she also remembered Francis bow, which she had strung to her back so not to accidently drop it or lose it when she was moving about. “Oh and here’s your bow back Francis, think you’ll need it.”Hope said as she took it off and offered it to him.

"Okay." Francis said as he held onto the semi wet towel now that he had used to whipe his face dry still in case he needed it again. With his empty hand he took his bow back from Hope seeing that it was still in perfect condition. He was at least glad that his bow had survived or his father would have yelled at him for loosing it, and not to mention he'd have to build another one. Sure he had one more, but it was used only for really long ranged shots that could be sent over farther distances than normal, the long bow that it was called. But this bow was more of a regular use of choice, it had a very good distane in it and could also be used for short range attacks. "Yeah you're good at that with the mimicry, there are tons of powers available for you on the Avengers to choose from so you have an advantage over that with the super heroes here."
"Thanks Hope. My dad would have yelled at me if I lost it. But I don't really loose things that easily which is a good thing. I do have a second bow back in my room, although I'm more comfortable with this one." He added as he inspected it just to make sure. Even with the tiniest of problems could cause a world of trouble for it with him. He did not see any major dents or any problems with it as far as he could tell which was also a good thing.
