Location:Roof of Avengers Time:3:30 pm
Hope sighed as she sat upon the roof edge of the Avengers Mansion, looking out over the city as she reflected on her thoughts. Instead of her suit from when she joined the Avengers she wore casual clothes of long faded blue jeans, black sneakers, a dark purple undershirt, and a dark pink short sleeved shirt with a hood hanging off the back. In fact anyone would think she was a regular teenager instead of a traveler like she had once been not but a year ago. But still she didn't seem to really care at the moment.
No, the young red hair girl was mostly lost in thought, sitting hugging her legs to her chest and resting her chin on her knees as she did so. She was still a little surprised that she was extended an invitation to the Avengers and instead of continuing to travel she took that offer up next to Athen. Yet, she barely spent much time with her new teammates. In fact she rather explore New York or try and search for clues of her adoptive father then really take the effort in being a team player. Though it was more then likely Hope would end up butting heads with most due to how competitive she got and her fiery personality. Of course that might not always happen.
But for now she was just sitting there to have time to herself, or at least she expected so. Hope knew at any time anyone would come looking for her but she was a little guarded at the moment that she might tell them to leave her alone. Depending upon who it was. But of course that wasn't going to happen forever.

Francis was down a floor below Hope as he was about to head onto the top to get some fresh air. He had been training in the training rooms for the past two hours now and needed a break. However as he got up from his seat and picked up the case of arrows that went on his back he felt his phone ringing and vibrating in his pocket. Sighing he could only guess who it was as he took it out, he read his father's name on the front screen as he realized that he was bound to be in trouble for something. But figured it would be better to go on the roof where no one else would hear it. So as he opened one of the elevator doors he turned on his phone to see what his father had to say. "Hello?" He asked as his father began to speak and he paused for a bit.
"Look I know ditching class isn't the greatest thing, but it wasn't that bad as you think dad. It was the last five minutes of class. We got out early. That's not ditching it. Why do you have to be on my case about it?" Francis asked showing that he was starting to sound a bit annoyed at his father's interpretation.
"Yeah well I have been getting good grades in my classes. While you were out saving the world twice I was trying to do my algebra homework, statistics homework, and not to mention reading nearly fifty pages from one of the pieces of work for one of the english classes that I'm in." Francis said as he made it to the top it was clear that they were still yelling at each other back and forth on the phone. As he arrived, the elevator doors opened as he looked around to see one of the other Avengers on the top of the roof. At first glance, he had assumed it was the Black Widow with her read hair as he looked at her for a bit, and gave Hope the wrong greeting. "Heay Black Widow." he said in a bit of a calmer tone before changing back to the phone.
"Look I'm one of the OLDER young avengers. I'm nineteen years old. Before you know it I'll be heading off to college and I will be more independent than I am now. If you want to argue with me come find me in the Avenger's mansion that's where I've been for the past week. Good bye." Francis said as he closed the phone. As he let out a soft sigh he realized something wasn't right. As he looked back to the girl that was on the roof with him, she wasn't Black Widow at all, sure she had similar features to her, but it wasn't her. It was someone else.
"I'm sorry I thought you were someone else. And for that argument you heard it wasn't for you it was towards my father." Francis said feeling a bit embarressed now that she heard some of the conversation that was going on. Ever since his father broke up with Barbra things had been different. And he hadn't quiet forgiven his father for the divorce since he never saw them together again let alone being happy. It was hard sometimes having super hero parents that were on different teams, and he certainly knew how that was.

While Hope sat where she was she could hear the elevator coming up towards the roof, making her wonder if it was someone coming to look for her after all. Though it surprised her to hear shouting as well, like someone was arguing with another. Not expecting this Hope only quietly listened until Francis stepped out and realized he was arguing with someone on his phone.
Though when she heard him refer to the infamous Black Widow a faint smile pulled at her lips, knowing he might realize the misidentification of her and the SHIELD agent. Turning to better face the slightly older young Avenger Hope tilted her head slightly, vaguely wondering what it was that they were bickering about. But from the sounds of things it was something over school which was common. She could recall some several times her mother had scolded her for not being too focused on school as she should have been, despite the fact Hope did rather well in her high school back in Cooperstown. Yet, she had dropped out and left to come in search of her adoptive father, Cable. That was until she became an Avengr member but had done so for that reason among others.
"Nah it's fine, guess it's hard to tell me and Agent Romanav apart from the back."Hope said as she stood, smiling a little before frowning slightly when Francis explained what it was. "Doesn't seem you and your father get along too well."She remarked, despite the fact it might have stung Francis to say that or only add insult to injury. But Hope wasn't exactly one to hold back her thoughts all the time which resulted her in getting some enemies or people disliking her. Though she merely shook her head,"But guess it happens sometimes and something you can't help."
Rubbing the back of her neck Hope wasn't too sure what else to say before deciding to introduce herself,"Though to get a little off topic my name is Hope Spalding, or you can use Summers since it's kind of my adopted last name."She said to Frnacis.

Francis sighed as he put away his phone in order to look back at Hope and nodded, "It's nice to meet you Hope. I do feel bad that I did that, but it's the truth you do look a lot like her. By the way my name is Francis Barton. My father is Clinton Barton." Hawkeye said as he looked back at Hope as she spoke. She wasn't at all mad at the conversation that they had, it didn't seem to be that way at all. So there was certainly relief in his eyes as he watched her. He then decided to put his phone away and leaned on one of the walls that carried them back down to the elevator, of course stayed clear of it in case anyone decided to come up it.
"Well it's a couple of things. For one my dad is pretty protective, and the second one is our personalities are so similar that we often clash. His stubbornness, my stubborness. His protectiveness, my protectiveness. So with that we don't get along that well that often." Francis said wondering if it was making sense to Hope. Though they just saw a bit of it there, Clinton was being protective over the phone while he tried to defend himself over something small. It just seemed that he'd never forgive him.

"Like I said it's alright Francis, the mistakes happen."Hope assured him knowing it was likely to happen more then once, and when the teen thought about it her and Black Widow probably weren't too different in some aspects. Though there was still a lot separating the two from truly being the same. Though her life hadn't exactly been the easiest ones to live, especially since she had spent much of it time jumping and learning to fight over the years. That was until she had been sent there so it kind of hit home the fact she no longer had her father, or the man she considered her father.
"Guess that can happen sometimes, but you should still be glad you have your father around Francis."Hope said, as she sighed slightly moving part of her hair behind her ear. There was slight sadness in her dark green eyes, almost as if she was remembering something but mentally shook it off. "Kinda sounds like me and my mother sometimes, between our stubbornness, free spirit, and fiery personalities we certain clash at times. But it's nothing that prevents us still getting along and being somewhat close."She said to him as she looked back towards the young archer.

"Who knows, maybe we could meet one day?" Francis asked but was a bit skeptical of that being that it was Hope's mother and she probably didn't want any interest in the superhero buisness. But Francis didn't have any powers, he was just a mere human who was gifted with archery. "But it's not always the case, my dad is gone a lot as he works with the Avengers. At most weeks to months to where I've wanted him to come home and just be with me. So that's kind of where I got my independence from with the parents not being around. My mom on the other hand was and is a part of SHIELD." Francis said as he looked back at her as she spoke. He felt like giving a bit of a past explination was needed to understand his view point. But as he thought about it he and Hope were kind of similar...well being that she had a true missing father and he had one that he still knew to this day.
"I don't know though what your mother would think if I showed up at your door, other than just being an archer I'm pretty much a normal human." Francis said with a sigh as he looked away from Hope and was looking down at the New York City traffic. There was a lot that seemed to be going on down there as he wondered if anyone he knew was in it. It wouldn't be surprising, of course if someone was in it.

Hope was also looking at the other buildings, listening as Francis explained the situation but shook her head,"Francis regardless of where your parents work or what they do you should still cherish the time you do have with them, you never know when there might be a time you may never see them ever again."Hope persisted, hoping the young archer could understand. But it could very well be that it wasn't as important to him right now as it was to her, especially since he had both parents while she had actually lost two and didn't know one. "Trust me sometimes family is the most important thing."
Turning back to the second Hawkeye Hope did manage to smile a little,"As for meeting my mother I don't see why not, heck you could maybe even meet my grandmother. They're both pretty nice and my mother is a hero in her own right since she's a firefighter so she's risking her life all the time to help others."She said, actually showing some proudness when speaking of her biological mother. "But she's also only a normal human Francis, but me I'm...well I'm a mutant,I have empathic power mimicry which allows me to copy other mutant powers."She explained to him before suddenly appearing beside him with the use of super speed,"Like QUicksilver's speed for instance or the younger kid. The one who can use wind,"Hope said before she focused next on the wind as it began to pick up enough around them.
As she focused she was able to start hovering and then flying to where the wind was powerful enough to pick her up and landing back where she was before. But the thing was she seemed to have control of these powers without much worry of completely losing control, least when she wasn't too furious or upset. That was when things got dangerous.

"I know. But I've been on my own pretty much since the beginning of my teenaged years, it's hard to believe that long ago they split up and I was raised by either one of them as they shuffled me back and forth when they had time. And when they couldn't they had to bring a baby sitter up so to speak to watch me. But I rarely get into trouble when I don't want it to happen." Francis said with a sigh knowing that Hope was right. They were the only family members he knew about. From what Clinton had said he had run away from his parents at a young age to avoid them but he hadn't been entirely detailed with his backstory, only that he grew up in a circus and trained there to become the marksman that he was today. Not once had he mentioned anything like a brother or a sibling that he could possibly call an aunt or uncle.
"That's pretty cool she must be very proud of her job then." Francis said with a soft nod as he listened to her as she spoke of her mother and grandmother. They both sounded like nice people and they all had one thing in common in being heroes. And they didn't neccessarily have powers either, they were both normal. That was one good thing that Francis liked about the Avengers, they didn't have to have certain requirements to join the team, even humans had joined with gifted abilities or assets that'd help the team along the way. And even former criminals had been a part of the team since it was brought forward. It made the Avengers so diverse.
Francis seemed a bit surprised at first as she appeared over and infront of him nearly in a blink of an eye. It was just how Quicksilver would have done it. But he was impressed with her powers, it was useful in more ways than one. She'd be able to mimic her enemies powers or even an ally just in case they needed help or aid in some way. "I will admit that's pretty impressive. But as for the boy I know Tony had recruited him in to the Avengers. And I helped him move in. The only bad thing about it was his parents rejected him." Francis said showing that the impressed side of him had disappeared.

So it had been pretty hard for Francis but Hope was very much hoping he would never have to meet such a rough life she had seen. Jumping from time to time, dimension to dimension, being chased down by someone who they could once call a friend or others who were just wicked in their own right. That was not a life to live but her adoptive father and at one point mother always did, until the original Hope who she had been named after, her adoptive mother even, was killed. And for all the young mutant knew her father could have been dead too but Hope was still hanging onto the fact he might have lived.
Though she smiled when Francis seemed impressed she knew very well that she had to be very careful, not only could she sometimes not control the powers when generating them at higher then normal levels but there was more she could do. Ones she couldn't exactly demonstrate without a training, meeting a mutant with unstable powers, or getting furious like she had a few times. It made her shudder to think what would happen if they discovered she was a potential holder of a cosmic being, more specifically to name the Phoenix Force. For Hope it scared her beyond belief and she could only imagine what her teammates would think or the destruction she could accidently cause if she lost control.
"Then they're like most non-mutant parents, can't accept their kid for what they are."Hope murmured, frowning as she heard this. Why couldn't humans just accept the fact that mutants did exist? That they were the next line in the human's growing evolutionary order? Perhaps one day they would or not but there wasn't exactly much they could do all at once.

"I'm afraid so with that statement. He was not looking good the first day he came in and I dropped what I was doing to try and help him. My own things could wait to try and help him regain some ground." Francis said as he looked back at Hope and nodded as he watched her for a bit. Unlike her though with the powers he was just a human with a unique ability. If he didn't have the marksman ability that he had from his father he probably would have never been able to get this high in the young avengers...he would have been just normal. He would have never had to chase bad guys down the side walk or chase them out of New York. Whatever the case, New York was his home and his ground as well.
"Maybe one day we could train together. I'm in the training room nearly three to four times week on some days. The weekend I have longer sessions since I'm pretty much free if you wanted too." Francis offered wondering if she would accept this or not. He'd probably no doubt be as good as Hope with her abilities. But he had the skills of marksman with him. "I mean that's if you want to. I understand you may have something better to do than being with me on the weekend." Francis said feeling a bit odd at the last part, hoping it didn't sound awkward to her.

"Guess it's an unfortunate time for him, but hopefully in time he'll be able to settle down and grow without having to let that burden him."Hope said with a nod, wondering how much of a toll it had taken on the younger teen. From the sounds of things it had been pretty bad, especially if Taylor had needed help just to settle down and possibly had been shaken up by the rejection. It was something too common these days and inwardly Hope very much hated having been unable to do anything. But maybe now that she was in New York she could do something to make a difference.
Though she looked at Francis when he offered to train together to which she smiled,"Sure I'd love to train sometime Francis. I mean my mutant powers aren't my only skills, I had to learn others since at the time it wasn't a guarantee thing I'd be one or that I'd be able to use them all the time."She explained to him and grinned slightly. "In fact I'm an excellent marksman when it comes to firearms, it's definitely my best skill next to armed and unarmed combat. But that's just to name a few."Hope actually seemed to show a little interest in these possible training sessions, maybe even being a duo on occasions.

"I hope so. Plus he has the other avengers to ask for help for as well." Francis said as he nodded back to hope agreeing with her with her statement.
Francis seemed a bit surprised as he heard Hope's agreement, he had expected a no from her. But maybe he was wrong, being a human was only one thing. And being a friend was another as he looked back at her, "Well if you wanted to do it this week that'd be fine. I'm not doing anything special so far. Just catching up on homework mostly." Francis said as he heard how she was an expert at firearms and a good marksman. "Well looks like we're both good in those ranges. I can handle an arrow mostly but my father taught me how to handle other weapons incase I ever lost my bow. It'd be a good thing to have in knowledge."

Hope nodded, really hoping that the young teen could certainly know he wasn't alone when he had friends there to help him. But not everyone was so open to letting friends help them or preferred to keep everything bottled up, which wasn't always the best thing but it was how some coped. Though nonetheless the red head had no doubt that things would still be difficult to get over since it certainly had to be a difficult time.
Though she chuckled slightly as she saw Francis seemed rather surprised by her answer,"Sure sounds like a plan to me. Besides I think both our dads did well enough to teach us something other then you know the normal, certainly helps in the long run when you have powers but ones not always reliable."She said, but she also was thinking of the one she had that frightened her quite a bit if she got angry, making her inwardly shudder as the last thing she ever would to would be reveal such a thing. "In fact if you want we could try some hand-to-hand combat while we're up here."She suggested.

"Yeah my dad doesn't like to talk about where he learned how to use the weapons a whole lot. Though the only clue he gave my mother was that he had once worked in a traveling circus. I find that hard to believe now that he's so hard and stubborn all the time." Francis said with a soft nod as he listened to Hope as she spoke. As she paused a bit she seemed to shudder at something. Like something was bothering her deep inside. He knew better than to ask her if it was bothering her, it may have been private. So he didn't say a thing as he remained quiet until she said something.
"Sure that wouldn't sound like a bad thing. Guess I won't be needing this though." Francis said as he put his bow standing up against the wall so it would stand up, one tip was down at the bottom of the floor and the other was on the top resting on the wall. He had his gloves on over his hand but decided to keep them on since he knew he would possibly need them in order to avoid hurting his knuckles for no reason. "That is if you want a session or practice run with me against it. I can use it like a bowstaff as well."

"Mine never told me either, only that he had to grow up being prepared for the worse when it came to time travel."Hope said with a slight nod, knowing her father hadn't exactly been specific of where he learned his skills though most had been learned along the way of his traveling and she herself had learned a lot just by watching. "Of course most of what I learned was from watching my father before he started to teach me."She added, wondering if she would really be able to put these skills to use.
Watching as Francis was preparing Hope only shrugged,"You can if you want to Francis, it's still a form of hand-to-hand so I don't see why not. But like I said totally up to you since I'm looking forward to this session."She said with a slight smile, taking her fight stance to show she was ready with a determined look in her dark green eyes. Ironically if anyone who had ever seen Jean Grey and looked at Hope they would surely think the two could be related or like sisters in a way.
