NO MATTER THE WEATHER
Magdalena Ashlynne Kale
- Name: Magdalena Kale
- Alias: Maggie
- Age: 23
- Gender: Female
- Species: Mutant
- Codename: N/A {will be Amaranth}
- Faction: Unaffiliated, but possible to sway
THERE'S NEVER A BREAK
- Personality: Magdalena is quite soft-spoken; she's a natural teacher. She is very health-conscious, and a modest young lady. Because she teaches high school children, Magdalena can also be incredibly strict and sharp-tongued, depending on the situation. She is a take-control sort of person and a natural leader when it comes to certain situations. In others, she may be just as easily lost.
She is easily startled, and sometimes can be described as skittish. Overall, however, one could say that Magdalena is a living model of the "perfect young lady". Upon first meeting her, she seems shy and timid. Some might compare her to a doe.
On the downside, Magdalena's temper is short; it doesn't take all that much to make her snap; though, her anger comes quietly. Magdalena is the type of person to show her anger by silence, cold shoulders, and occasionally sharp words. She doesn't like to be told what to do, but depending on the situation, she may begrudgingly obey. She hates to be put down, and often cannot resist the urge to prove someone wrong whenever she gets the chance.
She has a huge soft spot for nature and everything in it-- surprisingly, even its irritating insects. She loves to garden in her spare time.
Magdalena is terrified of being alone. Since her grandmother died, her grandfather is all she has left; she doesn't like the prospect of being alone, without family, and it scares her to death. She has also proved to be prone to depression.
- Likes: Gardening, Flora, Fauna, Nature, Rain
- Dislikes: Fire, Severe Storms, Loud Noises, Bugs that eat her plants, Being alone
- Appearance: Magdalena has long, soft, brown hair that has never been dyed or coloured. Her skin is pale and seemingly untouched by the sun {which is shocking, considering the time she spends gardening}. Her body is a bit "pear-shaped".
She keeps herself in shape and eats healthy, so she is of a healthy weight. She prefers to wear sweaters, long skirts, and boots when she's working, and often switches to t-shirts, jeans, and cardigans when she's in public. - Distinguishing Features: Unnaturally bright green eyes.
- Equipment: N/A

THEN SLIP ON A SNAKE
- Powers:
Ecological Empathy: Magdalena is very aware of nature in her immediate location. She can sense the rain coming in, or the storm clouds. She can predict when too much water for a plant is just too much, and what the perfect amount might be. Her gift allows her to, quite literally, feel the aura of the area she is in. The tenseness, the peril on the horizon-- if anything is out of the ordinary near Magdalena, she will be the first to know. It is unknown as to where Magdalena gained this power from.
Plant Manipulation: Magdalena can control plant life. She has the ability to make them grow, move, spring back to life from death, or sometimes even shrivel and die. Her abilities also allow her to animate plants into living things, though she has never used this side of the power. It's unknown as to where she gained this power from.
- Weaknesses:
Ecological Empathy: Magdalena can only sense what is happening in her immediate area. This usually refers to the area within 75 miles in each direction of her current position. She cannot sense anything outside of that range.
Plant Manipulation: This power is very untrained, and often takes a lot out of Magdalena when she uses it too much. The level of energy it takes from her usually depends on the size of the plant. Growing a flower wouldn't take a lot out of her, but growing something like a tree would leave her breathless. Moving the limbs on a plant {such as vines} takes significantly less effort than growing them, however, due to her unstableness with the power, she must be in complete focus to keep it moving where she wants it to go. Her target, basically, must be in her sight at all times.
- Skills: She is an expert at gardening, and happens to be a natural-born teacher. Magdalena has no real fighting experience.
- History: Magdalena never met her real mother-- not that she remembers, anyways. According to her grandmother, she was given up for adoption before she had even been born-- and given to her adoptive parents when she had been. Her biological father had far-since disappeared by then, and her biological mother wanted no contact with her afterwards.
She lived with her adoptive parents for a good three years when tragedy struck; the house caught fire. When the firemen arrived, Magdalena was the first to be taken from the house; almost as soon as they'd taken her out, the house collapsed behind them. Two of the firemen, along with her parents, died in a fire that still haunts Magdalena in her nightmares, even though it was so long ago.
From then, she lived with her grandparents on her father's side. She grew very close to her grandmother, Elsa, to the point where she was her role model and mother figure. Elsa, though a strict and traditional old woman, taught Magdalena how to be a "proper lady". She learned ettiquette and manners from a young age, as well as sewing and cooking.
When she wasn't attending school, Magdalena was always out in the garden with her grandmother. She was drawn to the plants her grandmother grew, and she just loved to watch them grow and finally blossom. It wasn't long before Elsa helped her make her own garden on the side, where Magdalena first discovered her powers.
The first time Elsa realized there was something special about Magdalena was in the garden, when the young girl was about eight. The two were outside, about to water the plants, when the young girl looked up to the sky, then to her grandmother, and informed the old woman that it was going to rain later. She didn't want to overwater the plants, did she? Elsa smiled and brushed it off; it was noon and the sun was high in the sky, so she continued.
A few hours later, the clouds rolled in, and the rain began. Elsa was stunned, but thought perhaps it was coincidence. However, Magdalena continued this pattern, informing her grandmother that it was going to rain, and sometimes informing them that it was going to storm. Her predictions were correct so often that Elsa couldn't pass it off as coincidence.
Later, Magdalena showed a new side to her powers. One morning, a cold frost came through, completely ruining the plants in the garden. Elsa, though disappointed, took Magdalena out to dig up the garden. They were just about to begin when Magdalena crouched down to the nearest growing sprout and placed her hands around it; the shriveled newborn plant sprung back to life and erupted into a vine of amaranth.
Elsa was stunned by her granddaughter's display. She did her best to help Magdalena develop these powers, but as Magdalena grew older, Elsa's health began to wither. At age 18, when Magdalena was about to enter college to become a Botanist, Elsa died of a heart attack.
Magdalena was hit hard by Elsa's sudden death, and spiraled into a depression. She lost contact with her grandfather throughout most of her college years.
When she had graduated and gotten a job as a Botany Teacher at a nearby highschool, she tracked down his new address in a nursing home and went to visit. She's currently trying to mend her relationship with her grandfather before his withering health takes him as well.
