The roof certainly was no training room for a Dark Avenger but for Hyacinth it was the best place she had found that helped to get her thoughts straight. This was especially so with the fact her mood had been sour and worse than ever, her thoughts still taking her loss to an Avenger and a young pixie girl quite hard as it was not proper for a warrior from her village to lose. Her race was a warrior one and her parents' teachings were deeply ingrained into her despite the resentment she felt towards them. A loss was something they'd find shameful and Hyacinth's warrior spirit had taken a heavy blow for losing for really the first time in her life, not to mention to some low life humans despite them being mutants.
Since then things had caused friction between her and her teammates and she knew the relationship she had been steadily growing with Barney was at it's breaking point. In her mind she knew she shouldn't have gotten close to someone in that way, not bordering to the fact they were in an almost way of being boyfriend and girlfriend by earth standards. Hyacinth respected Barney as she had seen there was a warrior spirit within the man but she had to accept the fact they were drastically different still, a thing that might very well blow away that growing bond and the feline woman realizing she might have been a fool. Things were just too different for them to work out and the young woman knew she might very well just be fooling herself into a false sense that things would work on on this world or being part of a team. So far, that had been proven wrong time and again in such a short time.
For that reason Hyacinth was often working alone but currently was upon the roof shifting from one motion to the other, training in her own sense without worrying of targets. Her eyes were blind folded so as to test her other keen senses while she also had her tonfas in hand, swinging them or thrusting them forward in attacking motion before shifting once more to look as if she was blocking or parrying an attack. Graceful movements greatly showed in her style, almost being an elegant dance for some as she flipped, side stepped, and twisted her body in angles that might make a contortionist jealous.
Though as she moved into a partial crouch, her fluffy tail flicking about a bit she began to hear the elevator coming up making her stare in it's direction. Her arms were still up in an attacking position and her entire body poised to strike as she sniffed the air to see who it was.

At this point, Barney was pretty sure that the only option now with Hyacinth was to possibly end the relationship. The archer had been on security duty for most of the day and had been wanting to get a breath of fresh air. He hadn't really seen anyone around, none of the other members. They must have been out for the day, well it didn't matter to him that much. It was better than getting in another fight with them. He wondered even at this point if he was better off leaving the team. The Dark Avengers hadn't really accomplished anything since their days of forming except for that encounter with the Ironman Suit. Other than that. It had been quiet.
Barney began to make his way towards the elevator to head outside in order to get some fresh air on the roof top. There he could at least inspect the area around him in case anyone thought about trying to enter in that way. The roof had always been a good choice for some robbers or break in. The elevator revved to live as it slowly began to come to move up the floors. It wasn't long before he got to the top, but he had this odd nagging feeling that something wasn't right. He took out his bow and as well as an arrow in order to attack in case something didn't go his way.
The elevator door opened letting Barney see the view outside. And he realized now where the nagging feeling had come from. Right in front of him was Hyacinth. He had to admit he was a little stunned but he didn't know if he should speak first or if Hyacinth preferred to attack him first. So he didn't move a muscle. "What a surprise." He said in a stern voice. But he had to admit, the tension followed him everywhere he went. There was no avoiding it.
For now the two were poised for battle if one were to surely come. Barney wasn't letting down his guard, and from the looks of it Hyacinth wasn't going to either. Even though they were team mates, the tension still stood. Someone was going to have to make a move on ending it, or being the starter. If it went in one direction, there would no doubt be consequences in the end. Fight. Or flee. It was hard to say on what the outcome would be.

The elevator was slow to come but nonetheless Hyacinth remained ready, uncertain for the moment if this was a teammate or an enemy. They had only recently had those AIM people around after all so it wasn't far fetched to likely having others do to the fact they didn't have high tech security. So ever part of her was alert as the elevator came closer and closer, gradually catching a faint scent and hearing movement that made her narrow her eyes behind the blind fold until she realized the scent was a familiar one, one she was hoping she wouldn't come across today.
Soon enough the doors opened and she heard Barney, yet there was an obvious stern tone to which Hyacinth used her tail to hold her tonfa in her left hand before removing the bandana covering her eyes. As it drifted to the ground her eyes narrowed upon his readied bow making her growl slightly at this, "Gee, didn't know you would have to go to these lengths to keep me at bay Barney." She said flatly as she twisted her tonfas when the other was back in her hand and moved them to the holders attached to her belt and slid them in as she stood. "Put your little trick arrows away Barton, I was up here training and that was all. But with recent events I had to be sure it wasn't some idiot trying to invade the building again, but then again I'm beginning to wonder about this team." Hyacinth said as she turned her back on Barney.
It was at that moment the feline alien began to feel an unusual feeling, one she had never felt before. Was regret? Guilt? Remorse maybe? She didn't know, she just knew this feeling was alien and foreign to her, Hyacinth never having felt regret or guilt of anything in her life. Least not like this. Heck, Hyacinth had even realized her heart still raced a bit in Barney's presence making her wonder if she really had made a mistake lately.

Barney hadn't at all flinched when he heard Hyacinth growl. It was clear she was expecting someone else besides him. Maybe she had been kept on guard since those AIM soldiers had come in? It was a possibility. They had been attacked twice now by Ironman's suit and as well as the AIM members. They couldn't let such a thing like that happen a third time. That's why Barney had upped his patrols and as well as his security watches to make sure everything was safe. Of course, he couldn't do everything by himself. He needed help from the others. "Didn't exactly know who was on top of the roof. If it was one of those soldiers like earlier they would have been blasted to bits. Turns out it was just you, Hyacinth." Barney said knowing it was true for not being too careful.
"You're not the only one who's wondered about this team." Barney said sternly once again as he watched her after putting his bow and arrow back. But he had second thoughts on staying up on the roof now. If Hyacinth didn't want him around or in the same roof top he'd simply find another place to call his own. What they needed was perhaps a recruitment time to find more members? Five to four members wasn't exactly going to cut it for the small team. They wouldn't last a second out in battle. If Barney was really desperate he'd ask Osborn about joining the team. He did still have the Iron Patriot Armor right? It was a thought he had saved for later, but it seemed like an option they couldn't say no too, he wouldn't resist heading back towards the old member.
As silence fell between the two members Barney spoke up, "Look if you don't want me here. Just say so and I'll leave. I have to go back to patrolling soon at some point." Barney said knowing that he had his own fair of jobs to do for most of the day. But as he looked back at Hyacinth through the silence he realized that she may have been thinking about something. "Hyacinth..."

Hyacinth sighed as her shoulders drooped slightly, her back still facing Barney as she looked out towards the run down part of the city of New York. Silence had fallen and for a while Hyacinth didn't even answer Barney, not knowing what to say without being cruel or telling him off. And for a while her mind was elsewhere but it seemed it didn't take long before she heard him utter her name which was likely he figured out that her mind wasn't completely there into their talk at the moment.
But it was then she finally spoke, "Barney, you know a little about my culture already. I've told you how my parents were strict to our ways and how I resented them so much, well I resented them because of their harshness and their obsessive behavior of wanting to rise in the ranks. I have lived by the code of my world that being a warrior means I cannot allow myself to fail, no matter what task may come ahead of me failure has never been an option. I have always strived to pursue my own goals against what my parents wanted, fought off the shi'ar, got away from being executed or put in the working minds, maybe even avoided being part of the breeding stock, and then I cam here hoping to achieve something worthwhile. But that seems to have been far more difficult than I ever expected. As a warrior I've allowed myself to open up to feelings I once thought as weaknesses and lost to some low live Avenger and some random pixie girl who happened to be at the mall to stop me from causing chaos." Hyacinth said, her tone becoming bitter the more she talked and her tail lashing to show those feelings.
Sighing she added, "I can't bring myself to accept having a wounded pride to that loss and these feelings when I'm around you...they are weaknesses, something I shouldn't even have. Yet they are there, they have grown since I've spent so much time with you over the past weeks." Looking back towards him the feline alien showed some deep remorse and uncertainty. "Yes, I'll admit my mood hasn't been the greatest and I might have been caught up in the moment when those henchmen were here but that is the person I am. I can't allow targets to escape without it being necessary or taking care of them and sending them back as a warning is something that has been greatly ingrained in me."She told him.

Barney nodded as she spoke, so she had been in some pretty hard stuff. Well so had he. He hadn't exactly told Hyacinth everything about his past. He just wasn't ready for it. The reason so he knew he wasn't entirely sure if he could trust anyone on the Dark Avengers with his past. Sure everyone knew about his feud with the Bartons who are on the Avengers and as well as him being a former Dark Avenger. But other than that there was not much revealed about his past. And he wondered if it was time to give a bit more. "It sounds like we've both been through hell and back. Pardon my language but that was the best thing that I could describe it as." Barney said knowing he wasn't exactly the big one to use swear words-that is of course if he got really mad at something. But this seemed to be a proper timing for it.
"Either way Hyacinth, if this is some sort of apology for earlier I forgive you. To be honest I was a bit tired of the tension that was forming between the two of us. And when you mentioned the thoughts about your feelings...that kind of surprised me." Barney said as he spoke to what he thought of what she had said. "But if I'm wrong and you still don't want me around I'll respect that too. I'm pretty sincere on that one." Barney added wondering if Hyacinth wanted him around. He was a loner, and it had shown. It was more like him to be by himself than work with others. But he had to come to the fact that he was on a team now, he simply couldn't walk away from them it was just like the old times. Well old times with new faces anyways.
"But Hyacinth if you do want me to stay around there's something that obviously needs to change in my ways of doing things that you may deem as unfitting or unpleasant. Just tell me what they are and I'll do my best to change them around you. Anything to make you well...satisfied." Barney said trying not to sound like he was begging. He just wanted to make sure that he didn't get Hyacinth in another pissed off moment like before. The two would probably get caught in a fierce battle and someone was bound to draw blood. It was going to happen that was for sure. And now there might be no avoiding it. Well he hoped he was taking the right step in the right direction for now. He waited to see what Hyacinth had wanted to say about this, or better yet remain silent only for him to wander.

"Heh, least you know a bit more about me Barney. Your the first person I've told about some of my life before being here on Earth and some of what you told me definitely could put us as being alike." Hyacinth said, giving a half hearted smile as she couldn't agree ore with him. They really had been to hell and back, probably literally in Barney's case but she wasn't aware of his entire past. She respected that much that he didn't tell her everything and she wouldn't pressure him to, after all it was none of her business unless he spoke of it. And though most of their experiences were very different there were still instances they faced many hardships and were resentful for something or had enemies they both greatly despised. So in retrospect they did share some things.
"Honestly Barney, I don't know what I want. You can leave if you want but I don't mind if you stay any more. I came up here to try and get my thoughts straight and try and think of a way to better improve myself from failing again." Hyacinth admitted, not knowing if she really wanted Barney to leave. Though deep down she really didn't want him to but she wasn't going to force the archer to stay. His next words though made her immediately shake her head, "You don't need to change a thing Barney. There are just some things you cannot change for a person, we have our own ways of doing things and are different in that. Like I said, I got caught up in the heat of the moment and perhaps was a little out of line with what I said before. You, Jacob, and Blake are far more different than how I was raised so don't take that to heart of needing to change otherwise you'd likely lose what you've known."She told him honestly.
The last thing she wanted to do was change the archer and she knew he had his ways and she had her's. There were just some things not worth changing. "The thing you can do though is maybe help me...understand these new feelings. They are foreign and strange to me Barney, I've never been used to love, friendship, and affection, they are something I've rarely had in my life and they lasted for very short times."

So it was true, despite the both of them from being different races they were very similar in some ways. They had both had hardships and managed to overcome them in ways they could not imagine. There was first of course for Barney the death of his parents, his and Clint's died when they were very young and of course that left them orphaned. Then there was their separation of brothers when they decided to take their own path. Barney had always blamed that on Clint for being so blind sided for what he could have become to what he was today. An archer. Who really would take an archer seriously with his style? He doubted there'd be man or person who'd take Clint seriously after that unless there was a sudden change.
"I'll stay. It just doesn't feel right about leaving you behind out of the blue." Barney said as he sat down near the entrance but it was obvious he stayed clear of it in order to try and avoid being smacked or run into by another member by accident. The way he sat down it was clear and away from letting that happen. Might as well add insult to injury in this case. Barney was a bit surprised at how Hyacinth had opened up to him. It was clear she had spent these past couple of days trying to figure out what to do and how to explain it to him without either one getting angry at the other. Barney would do his best to show that he was not mad at her in anyway shape or form for a simple mistake that she might have made. "I do understand. Some people can't change and we can't make them. It's just wrong sometimes in order to do that." Barney said with a soft nod as his red hair was as clear as day on top of his head it was one of his trademarks it seemed.
"Help you..." He repeated her words carefully as he considered it. He knew he wasn't the greatest at things like helping others. But he could at least try to help Hyacinth. She was after all a team member and an important one too. He knew it was going to be a hard task but he'd do his best. "I wouldn't exactly call myself tutor material to certain subjects. But I will give you that chance and try my hardest. Even if it is difficult for me." he said as he looked back at her through is red mask. It was pretty much the same shade of red from his hair at this point. A nice bright flame red at this point.

"Doesn't feel right?"Hyacinth couldn't help giving a soft chuckle at that and how ironic it was to hear that. "Barney that is what villains do best, leaving others behind and pursuing their own agendas even if they are on a team. I'd sooner leave someone I view as unneeded than really risk my hide to save them. Although there is the exception of those who earn trust." She told him as she began tying back the bandana she had over her eyes before and returning it to it's proper place in her hair. Though it wasn't her first choice of a fashionable look she had merely grabbed it to help train her other senses and for now decided she might as well wear it properly.
But she listened to the archer as he not only repeated her words but assured her he would do his best to help. This made her smile a little again, "I think you will do fine archer. You are now aren't you?"She said, that last bit being a rhetorical question as she approached the veteran member and kneeled in front of Barney. "But everyone has to start somewhere so don't sweat it too much. Though maybe it's best to begin with really meeting eye to eye." She said as she reached her hands up and moved the flaming red mask that usually hid his face around the eyes which she knew was suppose to make it rather difficult to know his identity. And well the young alien mutant had rarely seen Barney with his mask off and fewer times had talked to him without it. So it seemed like a good time as any to really just meet him face to face without it.
"Red head with blue eyes huh, I hear that's not quite as common as the green eyes." Hyacinth said with a chuckle, partly teasing the archer as she set the mask beside Barney for now. "Though I have to say archer you are rather handsome for a human."

"You've got a point. I ditched my younger brother as soon as I saw that he was a nuisance to be around. He only slowed me down." Barney said knowing it was true as he thought about it. Hawkeye never seemed to be able to keep up with Barney as the archery always held him back. Blindsided him even. Whatever the case may be it just wasn't fair that he got left behind and wanted to follow his own path. It was clear that the two brothers were not meant to be together, so with that, he split without even saying good bye.
The reason simply for that was, he knew he'd see Clint again sooner or later. That archer certainly knew how to get around and with a nephew about it would probably even be more often now that he thought about it. The chances of seeing another family member was going to be high with the Avengers always roaming around.
"Yeah that's true." Barney said softly but there was still some uncertainty in his voice. Sure he was fine now, but what about later down the line? He'd never know what his future held for the two of them. Maybe they weren't meant for each other? That was always a possibility. But he didn't want to think about dark things today, they had already progressed so well and Hyacinth seemed like she was opening up to him. And now...he was opening up to her. "You mean you want to see the real me? Not the villainous me?" Barney asked obviously not meaning the villain side that he had gone down since his youngest years. He closed his eyes out of reaction just in case she got a little too close and felt the mask as it came of revealing the part of his face he had always kept hidden.
Now she saw the real him. The bright blue eyes and red hair were certainly something that he knew his parents did not have the red hair in his family so it must have been a past relative. He didn't know too many other family members who had it since his parents had hardly ever been that 'family' type. He felt his cheeks redden a bit which made him even more embarrassed now that Hyacinth had given him those thoughts. He was out of luck too since he didn't have his mask either. "None of my family members from what I know of had a red colored hair and blue eyes. It must have been some traits further down the road of genetics." Barney said as he looked back at her. It felt weird to have his mask of that was for sure. But as he thought about it, maybe a distant relative of some kind like his great grandfather or great great grandfather. It was hard to tell at this point since he didn't really know of his family tree, and in fact it was probably better that way.

"Well I left my old crew back during an attack by the Shi'ar, a raid team really. We weren't exactly close so I took my chance to slip away on an emergency escape pod and ended up here eventually." Hyacinth said with a shrug, not really surprised to hear how things went between him and the Hawkeye of the Avengers. She left her crew which wasn't any better. They were likely wasting away right now in the mines and prisons or were likely dead by now.
Once again a chuckle escaped her at his questions, "Of course the real you Barney, mean there's not just villainous sides to us you know. There's always that side in us that likes to relax and enjoy a little time away from that stuff." She told him as she looked at his features and ran a hand on his cheek, smiling when she realized the archer had closed his eyes before and she could understand why. "And you know Barney my claws do retract so I won't hurt you." Taking her hand away she lifted it to show her claws were still visible but not the sharp points. She could bring them out in a fight to strike down others if she had to but usually she had them retracted when not in use. Still she could understand why he'd likely flinch or be a little worried about accidently clawing him by mistake.
"I could say the same for my own genetics. Everyone on my planet usually has black and white fur, mine is something that rarely happens which makes those like me a subspecies." Hycinath said with a nod before she looked at her hand and summoned her fire. "Though I'm a mutant subspecies to be more specific, far as I know no one in my family has ever had this." She said. Though like Barney she wasn't quite so keen to know much about her family and without coming from her own planet there was no way she could to begin with.

So it seemed that they were similar in more ways than one. He left Hawkeye and Hyacinth left her old crew. He knew that Hawkeye was still probably taking orders from SHIELD just like he did as always. Barney had never been fond of SHIELD in their attempts to do 'good' things for the world. In his opinion SHIELD was out there just to make themselves happy. They didn't care for the sake of the villains that they tried to capture or even the heroes that they suspected for treason. Imagine that, his own brother suspected for doing something that he was probably better of being blamed for. He'd love to see the day of that coming, he'd be front and center. He nodded back to Hyacinth understanding what she meant, in his life time he'd probably never get a chance to see Hyacinth's world or what it was like. He was doomed to be stuck on Earth for the rest of his days.
"I know Hawkeye has at least seen one good side of me, but that was a long time ago. I doubt he remembers that in fact since we had been kids at that point. You know what they say about kids being so well 'innocent' and all." Barney said with a soft shrug. He wasn't exactly having fond memories at the moment. His past hadn't exactly been the most pleasurable one. "I see. I think it was just a bit of a reflex, but I'll remember that next time. I'm sure that you won't try to claw my eyes out. I kind of need those to see what I'm doing in my archery." He said as his mood changed to a more of a joking side with what he had said. Though it was true on what he said, without his eyes or his hands, he'd probably never be able to do the archery that he was so good at.
"Uh so we're similar to when it comes to having rare genetics I see." Barney said as he listened to what Hyacinth had to say. Too bad for him he was just a regular human. "Can't say I have anything else that is special besides my archery. I'm just a plan boring human." He said as the jokig continued as he looked back at his bow just for a bit an idea came to mind and he wondered if it'd help in the two having some more bonding time. Or at least have a chance at being together for a bit longer later in the future. "Say Hyacinth. Do you think we could do some training together at some point? I practice just about every day with my archery skills, even though I tend not to show it around the other Dark Avengers. I still do it a lot." Barney asked wondering if she'd say yes or no to it. It'd give them both something to look forward to in the days to come. Or if she really wanted too, Hyacinth might want to do it right now since they had their problem fixed. They didn't have to worry right now about getting in someone's face.

"I don't think I've ever had anyone see good inside me, but then again I've never viewed myself as being good or evil. More a rebellious type." Hyacinth said as thought about it, never really knowing what to call herself. In her mind she had viewed the Shi'ar as wicked and cruel, that they were the villains in all this. Now it seemed the rolls were reversed on this planet which the feline alien merely shrugged off. There was no point in dwelling on the past now so she could only nod slightly at that. "Guess it depends on how you view it Barney." She said to him.
Though upon hearing his suggestion she grinned, showing her elongated canines in the process. "Training would sound good right about now. I could even show you how my race fights." She said before standing and offering Barney a hand to help him up but added, "Though you can leave your mask off for a while, it'd be nice to see the real Barnet in action."

"Rebellious seems to fit your personality." Barney agreed as he listened to what he had to say. He may never have a chance to see the Shi'ar or Hyacinth's own homework. Probably not in his time she was unlikely to go back any time soon, so Earth would be her temporary home. He wondered just how much of this place Hyacinth actually knew about. Had she ever come to experience anything that the humans did? He wondered about that, but Barney knew better than to pound constant questions in her direction. Besides they had just managed to repair a broken friendship after they had beaten Tony's armor-which he had to admit was hard.
"Alright I'll do it mask off. It just feels weird to me sometimes when I don't have it on. I've been so used to that mask now it's like my signature costume. Even Clint had one at one point, but it seems he doesn't care anymore." Barney said knowing it was true he had that familiar H symbol on his forehead along with dawning that purple uniform. Barney had always said that it had looked stupid, and he was glad that he had finally gotten rid of the uniform. Either way Barney took Hyacinth's hand and stood up with ease as he put the other one to rest on the ground just in case he lost his balance or something bad was to happen. Then he took out his bow which had still been resting on his shoulder. "But I can teach you the ways on never missing your target. We Bartons are known for doing that." Barney said. He took out one of his fancy bows that seemed to have a secret inside it that Hyacinth probably wouldn't know what it was. Though Barney knew, she'd find out one way or another on what it'd do when they started training he knew all his arrows and he kind of had to in order to fight opponents without glancing over his shoulder every time. "And you can go first by the way, on our planet, there's the saying, 'ladies first.'" He offered.

"Obviously, you've seen first hand that I don't do well in taking orders and that's likely not to change." Hyacinth said, knowing such a thing had become quite clear in the last few encounters of their enemies. She hated authority to no end and even on Earth she wasn't likely to take orders from anyone there either, even those she had come across in which seemed keen to "put her in her proper place" in society. Well those didn't end well for such people. That was one thing Hyacinth made certain of.
Though as she listened to Barney Hyacinth chuckled and smiled, "Well you are going to have to get used to not wearing it eventually Barney. You at least have to as posing as a civilian, which is easier said than done for me when I have to pose as a simple physically mutated human." Hyacinth told him, flicking her tail slightly after he was back on his feet. Sweeping her tail slightly she scooped up his mask and caught it in her hand and handed it over to the archer, "But here's your mask nonetheless, don't think you want to lose it." She added as she listened to how he was basically teaching her how to be a good markswoman. This she found a little amusing however, knowing for a fact she was no archer but she had a hell of a shot with guns.
"Barney, marksmanship is something I have all my own you know. Or have you forgotten that during the fight with the Ironman armor?" Hyacinth said in an amused tone, glancing towards the arrow he took out for a moment. But it seemed quick as a flash she made her first move, bringing her body low and bringing her left leg out in a low sweeping kick, hitting the back of Barney's legs to trip the man before he knew what had hit him, "Ladies first huh? Think you'll regret that courteous nonsense."
