A new path. ( Lance)

Lance sighed as he came from the sporting goods store, having to get some more supplies for his gym class back at the mansion. Many of the practices with not only physical fitness but also powers had proven to give the equipment a heavy toll, much of the stuff becoming destroyed or worn down to nearly being completely useless. Though this was mostly do to the fact many of the students played rough, couldn't fully control their powers, or did it for fun. He had already gotten onto quite a few over and over about it but not like it did much to stop this any way.

Though as Lance was passing by the pizza place he did notice something from the corner of his eye, a young man looking awfully watchful of the mall but considering his past Lance recognized the shifty, nervous gaze and tense stance. He was planning to rob someone who looked like an easy target. And it seemed on cue the man made a b-line for a couple of older ladies, maybe in their mid-forties, and made a grab for their purses and went so far as to try and pull a knife. Or so he tried, before he could even flip the pocket knife however he was shocked to find his hand frozen, yet the ice gave off an indigo colored glow and he also felt an icy chill in his feet.

Several surprised gasps came however, several people moving aside as Lance stepped forward with a psionic aura about him glowing the same indigo color along with his eyes. "You know I wouldn't recommend doing that punk, you never know who might be watching."Lance said in a firm but warning tone, making the man tremble slightly but as the ice disappeared before the man was blasted away with what seemed to be glowing water but from pure psionic energy. Out of shock and fear the man scrambled to his feet and attempted to leave but not before he bumped into the mall police and was handled from there. Letting his aura disappear Lance looked at the women who also seemed surprised but relieved,"Are you two okay?"He asked kindly and the women gave polite yes' before they quickly went about their business and so did several others, but Lance could tell there was uneasy looks upon him as he picked up the equipment he had bought.

Giving a quick glance at those looking at him Lance raised an eye brow,"Well people shows over nothing more to see."He said to them, shaking his head to why they gawked all the time when mutants, or even super humans, would use their powers in public. He had done what any right minded person would do and that was actually help someone and not let the suspect get away. But the psionic mutant knew very well that there were those who didn't have a love for mutants. Not that he would let that affect him.

Though when he had been looking Lance had noticed something rather odd at one table, it was ice covering part of the table and it seemed the pizza as well. Now that couldn't be a common thing you saw every day, especially since the source of the ice seemed a young girl who was only a teenager. Perhaps she was a mutant too? If she was it seemed she didn't have control of her powers, much like the other students at the institute which didn't surprise him. Curious now Lance made his way over, seeing Sarah was already looking in his direction like about half the mall had done.

"Excuse me miss, I don't mean to bother you but the ice...did you do this?"Lance asked, looking curious and just seeing if his suspicions were right. "Your not in trouble I was just wondering since I saw it just a moment ago."

Seeing the looks they were getting Lance looked back at Sarah seeing how uncomfortable she seemed but he hoped he could help with that. "Here come with me for a bit, think the last thing you need is to be stared at for no good reason."He said kindly, hoping it might help encourage her to be able to ignore the stares they were getting. Honestly he had gotten quite use to such looks since he had his powers but he was taking a estimated guess that Sarah hadn't had her's for very long and seemed actually uncertain in a way.

Though at the same time he couldn't help but wonder if this young girl would be willing to hear him out about what she was able to do with her ice powers. Sure it could be scary and hard to control at first but he knew from experience that things could be tough until you got the proper guidance to make things possible and easier.

When Lance began to walk with Sarah he looked back at her after they were more out of ear shot of those who had kept gawking. "Your powers...your a mutant aren't you?"He asked her, though in a calm manner and not wanting to force her to tell him if she was or not. Considering the circumstances he could understand if she was nervous and scared, it was a natural reaction when something unusual happened that you didn't suspect. Though he patiently waited for her answer before he would continue and kept walking while they spoke.

"I thought so, then it might help you to know that I'm one myself."Lance told her, looking forward for a moment as he thought about how to explain this at first before finally finding his words. "My powers you saw of course, but only part of them. I'm a psionic manipulator but with elements of ice, water, lightning, and fire. But of course I'm sure your probably scared and confused. Not knowing what to do now, right?"He said to her, the last one actually being a genuine question to see just how well she was handling her powers.

Not everyone dealt with finding their new found powers very well or became scared and confused, not knowing how to handle it. But the more he could know before hand the better it might be to offer her a chance to join the school to better control these unique gifts she had obtained.

It was just as he suspected for the most part and Lance merely nodded,"Most powers only reveal themselves in times of great stress which in whatever the case may be for you. It happened when I was about your age so it's actually not uncommon to happen."He explained to her, but he didn't want to press the matter since it seemed she was already stopping herself from saying much more about it. Lance figured it was a touchy subject for her so he said nothing more then explaining the possibility of why her powers activated like they did and so suddenly.

"Though I almost forgot, my name is Lance Bond."Lance added with a kind smile, having forgotten to give her his name and knew this might make things a little bit easier instead of going nameless. However, he did wonder what had caused her own powers to manifest in such a manner but he could see that Sarah was just worried of hurting someone. "And there is a way to help you control your powers, though you can choose to do it on your own some guidance might give you a better chance."

"That's a nice name Sarah,"Lance said with smile and was glad to see she was starting to seem alright, or at least not uncomfortable like before. He knew walking over to her just shortly after the use of his own powers hadn't helped and he hadn't meant for that to happen, but still it was nice to see she was at least smiling. But this was only the beginning of things as their conversation continued but he stopped when she suddenly did. Curiously the psionic mutant looked back at her about to ask what was wrong before she asked her question.

Chuckling slightly Lance nodded,"Yes guidance. You see I'm actually a teacher at a school called the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, founded by our first teacher PRofessor Charles Xavier."He explained to her. "You see it's a real school, almost like a boarding school without all the strictness, but it's also a place where we can train with our powers. There are several mutants like us who vary in age, their powers, and come from different backgrounds but still have fun."With this explanation Lance really wondered how Sarah would react now.
