Location:Mansion front steps
It had been a week and a half since the incident Lance had beaten badly, having returned to the mansion little over two days ago when the hospital was sure he could be fine.In fact he had been insisting he would recover just alright back at the mansion. Took convincing but finally the medical staff relented and sent him home. Now Lance was taking time to recover and had to take it easy, even asking someone to fill in for his classes as much as he hated to ask that.
Sighing he could only sit on the steps, trying to enjoy the cool day. At the moment Lance had his chest and part of his mid-section wrapped in bandages due to three fractured ribs and mostly bruising around the areas. He also had a few gashes on his right shoulder with a slightly fractured collar bone which were bandaged along with one above his eye which had a large band-aid over it too. He also had a few softball sized bruises on his back, one on his cheek, and a few on his legs which weren't visible due to the jeans he wore. For the most part though his bandaged areas were visible due to no shirt on since he was letting the covered areas getting aired out a bit and to prevent from getting too hot again.
What was worse he had a hard time looking any of his fellow X-men or students in the eye since the whole fiasco of being arrested then beaten down. All of it had really brought down his confidence of things being able to change around there like they had in the beginning. And with a soft sigh he looked towards the cloudless sky, thinking.

Sarah had been shocked when she heard the news about Lance. He was the first X-men she had met and was the one that got her to join the school, because of that she felt she had bond with him. Even though they had not known each other for that long. Sarah tried to get info on what was going on but for whatever reason no one was telling her a thing. So this left her to worry and get all stressed. To the point she froze everything she touched. This was not helping in her training at all and she just knew she was annoying the other students... Wanting to calm down and get some practice time Sarah had gotten up early. She then walked down the halls being as quite as she could and hoped no one noticed her.
She then came up to the door and placed her hand on the door, maan who would have thought she was going to have such a hard time here? She almost just wanted to go back home to her Mom.. But no that was the easy way out. She would learn how to use her powers and be a hero her Mother and her late Father could be proud of. And not just them.. Everyone here at the school and all those who have been trying to help her. Sarah then looked at the door with determination. Yes, she would seize the day and take control!!! And with that in mind she opened the door only to find Lance standing on the other side of it. Sarah eyes grew wide as she let out a shocked yelp as she almost walked right into him. "Mr. Lance!! Your back!" Sarah said in shock but was clearly happy to see her favorite teacher.

Hearing the surprised yelp Lance turned rather quickly, if a little too sharply that it made him noticeably wince and wait a second or two before he looked at who had said his name. To his great surprise it was Sarah, the ice manipulating mutant he had convinced to come to the school and who had seemed so determined to prove herself. Unfortunately he could only give her a meek smile, uncertain if she had lost utter faith in him when realizing that he himself was a criminal. Though he wasn't the only one with a checkered past, especially someone like Gambit was a well known former thief but that had been years ago by now while his was only some six years ago at most.
"Yes Sarah, I got back a few days ago but been laying low for a while. Least till today, thought I could use some air."He told her,his tone kind as it usually was but having an edge of uncertainty in it. At the moment Lance was relatively uncertain to how people would treat him now, mostly his students who he cared for a great deal. Had their perspectives changed for what he was trying to teach? Had Sarah's? He knew very well from the beginning a bond had seemed to form between them,if anything Lance could have seen Sarah as a young sister of sorts.

Sarah nodded as Lance said he had been here just resting, she could understand that. hearing he had been hurt and saved by Mr. Garrett and some woman she did not know. But that's all the news she got. She had wondered why she had been kept in the dark but she was not going to ask Lance what happend, she did not want to make him relive what he had gone through. " Understanable Mr. lance. Though I have been worried sick!! I heard some things but been mostly kept in the dark... But don't worry I wont ask you anything.. In fact I was about to go out and practice with my powers... I err have been having issues the last week and a half.. " Sarah said blushing a little and rubbed the back of her head. If Lance was not hurt Sarah would have hugged him but seeing as he was still recovering she held herself back. Though something was diffrent about Lance.. She could not tell what it was but something was off about him.. Something she did not like, she could see it as she looked into Lance's eyes.

"I'm sorry to have worried you Sarah but I was in the hospital for a week before I was cleared to come back here."Lance explained to her but could understand why the students would be kept in the dark, especially since this would mostly affect the staff members who made up the X-men more then the students. So it was no surprise that she didn't no much. Though he listened to her of what she had been doing, surprised she was having a lot of issues with her powers just in such a short time. Though of course it could have been the stress of her worry affecting them.
"Well I can at least help you, possibly not with much demonstration like before but enough you can have better control again."He said to her, slowly standing up straight but there was still visible pain in his expression from any movement. It was just something he would have to push himself to live with for the next month, so it was estimated for his healing time. "There anywhere in particular you like to train?"He asked her, knowing that might be the best place to work with her powers.

Sarah nodded again as she listened to Lance, well seeing that he was fine now she would not worry as much now. But now seeing him up close she could see how badly he had been hurt. If only she could have done something to help but that night the students where not allowed to leave and where all told to stay in their rooms. Now if she had better skills at sneaking she might have tried but was worried about getting caught so she just had a sleepless night in her room. Then when Lance offered to help her with her powers Sarah gave a shocked look and shook her head. "Thanks for the offer Mr.Lance but your still in pain.. I could never ask you to do something that may hurt you... But I was planing on going to the woods to practice on this large rock I found.." Sarah said looking worried for Lances's injury's.

"Sarah most of my powers relies from here,"Lance chuckled as he tapped the side of his head that was banged up while smiling. "And I can teach without having to use my own powers so I can still give you pointers from the side lines."He assured her, knowing whether or not he wasn't teaching at this time he could still help students individually if he had to. A lot of the teachers did that when certain students needed help, it just depended upon what kind of power they had and it made it easier when multiple staff members varied in powers slightly. "So shall we Ms.Hideki?"He said with a smile.

Well it seemed like Lance was not going to take no for a answer, and she was only just thoughtful, but it seemed he was being thoughtful as well. And that he was a teacher after all he coud feel that it was his duty to help her. Sarah said nothing for a moment as she looked at Lance, she still did not like the idea of him going out of his way for her still recovering but she was not gonna waste time trying to agrue with him. " Alright. If you say you can help me.. Just don't push yourself to much.. Last thing I need is Mr. Garrett getting mad at the both of us." Sarah said with a weak smile and started to lead the way. Yeah she had noticed a slight change in Garrett so she has been avoiding him the best she could.

"I'll worry about Garrett Sarah, but at the moment he's got his hands full it seems since he was determined with something."Lance said with a nod, following the younger mutant towards the boulders in the woods. He assumed she had gone there many times as it was since she knew the way quite a bit. And though he was going to be fairly sore for all this movement he was glad to be moving instead of just laying about, hating not being able to do something or even work with his students or fellow X-men. Quite frankly it was driving him nuts doing nothing at all!

Sarah nodded, though she was still worried. And still worried that moving around so much would hurt him. But he was a teacher and a stubborn one at that so she kept her thoughts to herself for now. After walking a long was they came to the clearing Sarah had found and a large rock could be seen, and it showed scaring of being attacked. " Well this is the place, your the first I have shown it to. Its kinda become my thinking and training spot." Sarah told Lance as she walked over to the large rock. Though she left out the fact she had been only able to use her powers when angry. No matter how hard she tried her powers never seemed to work otherwise..

When they arrived to the clearing Lance gave a quick look around, thinking Sarah actually found a good spot for self-training before looking at the rock that had obvious scarring on it. Well it certainly seemed she was hard at work in trying to use her powers and he came over to it, touching the rock for a moment before he looked back at Sarah. "Seems you've been working hard and that's good, but tell me has there been any certain time or emotion it activates? Well besides your obvious distress in the past week and a half."He asked her, knowing the only way he could help was with knowing how her power worked.

Sarah winced a little at Lance's question. She did not want to tell him it only seemed to work when she was scared or angry... She would get frost on the ground if she consentrated and sometimes ice would grew but then it came to attacking she was having a rotten time of it... She hated she had to be angry or scared to use her powers.. It was like when she first used her powers to protect her Mom... When she attacked those humans... She still had bad dreams of that... ".... It seems to work the best when I'm angry... But I want to be able to use it at will... But.. I just can't for some reason... I wish I coild use them like I did the very first time.. When..." Sarah cut herself off again. She still could not bring herself to talk about when her powers first awakend... She had attacked some humans but it was in order to protect her Mother.. But she still felt gulty for doing that..

Lance looked back at Sarah as she began to explain what was going on but when she cut off he had a feeling of what it was, the situation that had activated her powers. Rubbing his chin the young x-men member took a moment to think before he stood,"It takes time to train and focus when it comes to your powers Sarah, it took me a while after mine first manifested. And most often our powers manifest in a stressful situation, whether they are offensive or defensive means many powers are by will and psionic control. Though not exactly in the context of my powers."He explained to her as he came back over.
"It's likely the same with your own powers Sarah, being able to manipulate the water molecules in the air to make your ice is likely of your mental will."Looking towards the boulder he tried to think of a way that could help Sarah not get so frustrated with her powers. "Alright let's try this, just take a moment to calm yourself of any worries or fear and empty your mind then try focusing on the boulder."

Sarah looked at Lance spoke, Yes yes she knew it would take time training but as he went on and spoke of focus that was one thing she seemed to be lacking. Due how many things have been happening. Sarah gave a sheepish smile and nodded, As Lance went on how powers could manifest Sarah sifted uncomfortably. Yeah she knew first hand how powers could manifest in a stressful situation... And that's when they only ever seem to work... When Lance told her to clear mind and try to use her powers on the rock. Sarah looked at him as if he where crazy, Clear her mind!!! Ha easyer said then done!!! But Sarah nodded, closeing her eyes taking a deep breath and exhaled.
Sarah then relaxed as she tried to push her worries from her mind. None of them mattered at this very moment. For Lance was hurt but he was fine, the thugs where gone and would not try to hurt her. As her worries melted way as did the block from her powers faded. She could feel it, her power it nor cold but it was there as if it started to really flow through her for the first time. The area around Sarah become very cold, frost seem to grow around Sarah and ice on the trees. Sarah then raised her hand opening her eyes as she looked at the rock. This feeling it was the first time she had ever felt it... Control, Sarah then shot off a beam of ice completly freezeing it. Sarah looked at what she had done shocked, he did it... She used her powers wow such a great feeling.

It seemed his theory had been correct in her control, it seemed all the worries she was carrying on her shoulders was what prevented Sarah from using them. Lance just had to make sure she would have been willing to listen to him or argue even more but to his satisfaction she did as he said. Sure enough frost and ice began to form on the trees and the boulder was now a giant bouldercicle. None the less it was it was more progress for the young girl and Lance was confident it wouldn't be long before she was improving much more then ever.
"Sarah as your teacher I don't think I could be more prouder right now, you've just made quite a bit of progress there."He said to her with a proud and joyful tone, having a feeling her parents would be quite proud of her as well. Who knows maybe Sarah would tell her mother the first chance she could. Lance himself knew form experience being able to consciously control that power was a huge milestone in itself.
